Saving money..... Hmmmmm....... Well, it all depends on your outlook on things. Some people will do a "rent-to-own" on a super-cool new TV because they "can't afford" to go to Best buy and purchase it outright. They will end up paying 3x the cost of the new TV, but at $19.95 a week, they can afford it. For me, I've been smoke free for about 3 months now. I figure I've saved about $700 on cigs. I've spent about $900 since on various ecig paraphernalia... BUT, I now have a couple devices that I love, some back-ups in case the favorites crap out, and enough DIY supplies to last me QUITE a while. So have I saved money??? Not yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I will soon be reaping the (financial) rewards. The health rewards are already being enjoyed on a daily basis :thumb: !!!

So, some people say they can't afford to start ecigs. And I will agree. In their current frame of mind, spending ~$6.00 a day is much easier for them. But you really need to look at the big picture, and have a vision for the future...

Vape on, my friends!! :vapor:

At the end of the day, I think saving money is simply a bonus when it comes to smoking. Getting healthy and quitting analogs is the goal with extra money at the end of the day as a nice bonus. I found myself saving money after switching. It isnt much, but its better than nothing.

average of $11/pack @ 3 times a week = $132/month spent on analogs
average of $40/month spent on ejuice = $92 savings per month

now what completely destroys all my savings is buying accessories and stuff for my ecig. you win some, you lose some, but at the end of the day, hands down, id rather pay more to smoke a PV than an analog.

Ya, for a long time I convinced myself that smoking was cheaper than quitting here in Florida (~$6.00 a pack). At $11.00 a pack it's almost easier to kick a puppy through a fan at a PETA convention..... every day...... rather than smoke.

I havent bought a pack of smokes in over a year, and I was never really a heavy smoker - maybe a pack a week.

So from the 12-18 months I've been vaping I reckon Ive saved around $1000 from not buying smokes. I've probably spent around $300-$400 on equiptment and e-juice for vaping (which I'd venture a guess to say that around 15% of that is overseas shipping).

I'm not a serious vaping enthusiast, my interest in vaping probably matches my interest in smoking (somewhere between social and heavy).

But there is no doubt I've saved a lot of money.

I spent $30 on an NJOY rechargeable and 5 pack of cartos over a month ago. A buddy gave me a 10ml bottle of coffee flavored juice he didn't like and I've been refilling those same original 5 cartos. A PAD at $6 is $168 so yeah, I've saved significantly month 1. I don't plan on doing this long term, but will likely invest $50 tomorrow at my local B&M for an eRoll and bottle of juice. I'm doing this because I do find that I still crave a better SMOKING experience than I'm getting after this NJOY battery starts to die, though I also debate dealing with it and completely quitting. I don't think I'm quite ready for that though so I expect (hope) to pick up the eRoll and eventually phase out vaping completely.

Let's see:

$11/pack x 20 (packs per month) = $220 on analogs every month x 3 = $660 every quarter

$45 (2 EGO batteries) + $40 (2 good tanks) + $60(juice) = $145 (all I need for 3 months of nonstop vaping)

I hardly need to buy 2 batteries every quarter, but let's say I do.

It's an easy $515 savings every quarter. More than $2000/year

Haven't read the whole thread but I think the start up costs are what gets ya. I'm hoping that after the first initial buying frenzy, things will settle down once I've figured out the juices I like and the mod setup I like using.

But if you like to tinker and start getting into RBA/RDAs, mech mods and the like, then it will be more of hobby instead of a habit.

With 2 ex smokers in the house, we were at about a pack a day each which is like 12-13$ for the 2 packs times 30 days. The start up cost is bit more, we only spend about 50$ on liquid a month total now and it's semi pricey liquid as we could save more going through like mtbaker or whatever not. We do rebuild coils though so that effects cost keeping it low.

I don't see how you could possibly spend more than you would on analogs unless you are just collecting parts. I just bought a provari + prive + 20 cartos + an 18650. That all came in at around ~$280. That's 40 packs of smokes at $7 / pack. I smoked a pack / day, so 40 days.

I spend about $1 / day on juice and $1.25 / week on cartos. That's $8.25 / week and the mod pays for itself in 40 days. Again, I can't imagine spending anywhere near the amount I would spend on analogs unless I were just buying different mods constantly.
