When I first started out, I really think I was saving money compared to smoking. After I started reading in this forum I have started buying bunches or juice, atomizers and replacement stuff etc.... but hopefully I will get stocked up and figure out some of the DIY stuff and then maybe I will start saving money. Or maybe not.... as long as I don't return to smoking I feel like I am ahead of the game. Good luck to everyone. If you have any suggestions on how to save money, let me know.

I say of course you're saving money. I calculated the total amount of money spent smoking analogs and it was like $22k !!!! Factor that amount plus the future health costs I've avoided, then yep I'm saving boatloads of money no matter how much I spend vaping. That 22k was from a pad over 11 years. I would get the willies if I actually smoked for like 30 years. You could have bought the harley you wanted, or took an exotic vacation or whatever.

The past is the past. I'm vaping = winning!

When I first gave up cigs and starting vaping I spent alot of money. I think once a person makes the decision to vape full-time,so to speak, then the savings start. At least I did once I got a nice mod, figured out which tank I like and works for me, and of course got over the thrill of trying different juices. At first I spent alot on juices, but once I picked my 3 main flavors and stuck with those.. Sometimes I will buy a different flavor to change things up,but not the 8-10 30ml bottles a month I was buying just to taste them.LOL

no saving here. Probably smoked 20 cigs/ cigars a yr tops. I like smoking but hated the smell all over me. Vaping solved that issue. But still I split my e cig package with my brother so $40 and we split liquid so $3 every 2 weeks. bought a extra clearmizer ($7) and ordered a tank ($10), going to get one more tank I think thursday ($10) but a clearmizer style. So Im not spending a ton and wont be buying any $200 ones in the near future. But sense I bought my e cig I have gotten my friend to get off cigs and chew and a few others to cut down on the amount of cigs they smoke. So well worth it to see them cutting there smoking

After a year of vaping I have found what works for me. I save money and I was a PAD smoker paying about $30 a carton for cigs! It all depends on weather you want to save money or not after you switch to vaping. If you are a collector, or you go for every new toy out there and for every new shiny object, it will cost you a lot. If you figure out what works for you and mostly stick with that, there are savings to be had here. DIY really helps too.

That's the basic question after having a conversation with my mom who also vapes and said after her batteries die she's done with vaping (with smoking too)...which isn't hard to understand considering all of the mods and apvs we've seen, but what do you guys think...is it time to stop touting the saving money claim and just admit that it can be expensive but that's ok?

Well if you get into it the way I did, it becomes a hobby and hobbies cost $

Newports were never this expensive. I have been vaping for about a year and a half and the invested in vaping is staggering. I can say; I have thoroughly enjoyed and still.continue to.enjoy vaping, I can't say the same for cigarettes. I am also that "person" who is searching for the next greatest vape, unluckily those come around every 3 months. But I am not everyone.

I have met some people that stuck with ego's and ce4 until they were able to ween themselves off of those and quit vaping, they used the ecigarette in which it was designed and I couldn't be happier for them. For those people I will agree; they saved money and their health. But I can't say the same.

Wow, I recently started rewicking my vivi Novas and I'm virtually Vape mail free. I also DIY my all day Vape and have alot of nic in the freezer. I'm virtually Vape mail free, which is an amazing thing since I used to be a vape mail junkie. Yea, it's possible to do once you find out what satisfies you. Keep searching until you do! I just went to vapestock and really didn't want to buy much other than a cool drip tip and I did buy an RBA that I want to learn about. It's a genesis knock off and I'd like to learn those and play with it, but it was only $30. Lol.

I plan on saving a lot of money. I was spending $400/month on cigarettes. Just spent $100 on my first (inexpensive) setup and 60ml juice. At the rate I'm consuming the juice so far, looks like 60ml a month will do. Even if I doubled that and then bought some new (expensive) equipment EVERY month (which shouldn't be necessary, I don't think), I figure I'm waaaaay ahead of the game. We'll see though, since "the best laid schemes", and all that....

I keep track of my vaping expenditures, excluding things like tools or glassware that can be repurposed. Currently, I'm on track to break even in February 2014 (unless they raise the cost of cigarettes before then - it's like $68 a carton and I was almost a PAD smoker). I'm super happy with my setup - after a year long evolution I have a modest amount of quality gear that makes me happy and works for me. I've started to take advantage of the Classifieds to sell gear at a reasonable price that I no longer use (so that date is moving up). I've switched to RBAs full time and unless I get that itch, I'm very content with my current hardware and have enough wire to last for years (although I want to get more Ekowool and try different sizes). I probably have enough juice that I like to last for nine months, but I expect to stock up on certain flavors that I run low on before then. I'm very interested in DIY liquid, but want to vape some of my inventory before I invest in DIY supplies. It's taken me such a long time to find commerical e-liquid that I like that I'm not looking forward to starting all over again in the search of concentrated flavorings and recipes that I enjoy (wasting money on stuff that I don' like along the way).

We most usually get more than we need. Actually, I think it s a matter of character. If u can resist buying new products and experimenting, then ecig is a big money save. If u follow up with everything (like I do), then it's not. I've a friend of mine using a simple ego 650 and a ce2, one year now and he is really satisfied. On the contrary, I have more than 5 mods and 5 RBA's atm...

Ok here in AZ smoking 2 packs a day of name brand costs about $12 a day times 365 days is over $4000 a year.
That’s me.
1 pack a day is a bit more than 2k a year.
If I did roll my owns (rollies) I could smoke for just under 2k and a 1 pack a day person could do it for just under 1k.
Getting more reasonable price wise but taste and other satisfactions? Gone!

So Vaping using rebuildables because I won't even address the pre-made crap.
Buying my rigs at my local store is about $120 a YEAR.
Buying my juice there is probably $520 dollars a year or so.
So. $640 a year and I'm good. Roughly speaking.

So buy my rigs online is a lot less except I have been "trying" stuff.
I am done as to trying batteries as I am stuck on eGo-c Twists.
My Tanks are Kanger T2 and/or maybe the Pro-Tank or possibly some other glass variation (still trying stuff here eh?).

Buying the juice online is WAY cheaper even when just buying pre-mixed stuff.
For that I use Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories less than $5 for 15mL bottles of all sorts of great tasting stuff.

But NOW I just got started doing basic DIY mixing myself still using Mt Baker Vapor - Electronic Cigarettes, USA made E Juice, and Accessories for supplies as they have excellent pre-mixed base liquids and good enough flavor mixes for less the $3 for a 15mL bottle.

I just bought 236mL of 24mg 65%PG – 35%VG base and 20 bottles of flavors for less than $80 using vaporfrombaker discount code. $10 for more bottles and I am done.
DONE for at least 6 months.
For $120 hardware + $160 e-juice = $360 a year = 1 dollar a day. Plus lots of fun!

Go figure…
