Had a little epiphany - rather than doublepost, here's a pic and a link with more details.
Perfect "ring" if you want to use your tank with an ego...

Hey Peter, glad to hear you got the replacement in good order. We have pretty good luck most times with USPS but sometimes things happen. one customer asked that we add peanuts so The Offspring tossed in a Planters Bar :) She added some bubble wrap too of course ;) I did pass your thanks along to The Mrs.

Too funny! My nephew used to call packing peanuts "ghost poop". :D

Question? I can't believe it but I broke the glass on my 25mm tank. Yet I have dropped my 22mm tank many more times without breaking it. By chance is one size tank 'stronger' than another? Just bad luck and I should just order a replacement, or should I just stick with the 22mm tanks?

I do tend to drop things (bad hands), and knock stuff over a lot. My ProVari (knock wood) is still pretty though...

Peter, I would say just luck of the fall on how it landed. The glass is all the same manufacturer (Simax) and close on spec, the 25 is actually 2.4mm thick where the 22 is 2.5mm so that is only a different of about four thousandths. If you think of it in terms of strength in a curve then the tighter curve on the 22 is going to be stronger but again these are minute differences. The impact is where the real wild card is as this will vary greatly every time.

That. Is. Brilliant!! I should've asked for peanuts! The Mrs. also took good care of me a week or 2 ago when I had a broken thingy  I was really concerned, because I do like to fiddle my thingy quite often & as you know it's just not wise to fiddle with a broken thingy. But lo & behold, not 1 but 2 thingies showed up very quickly resolving the situation & I am happily fiddling my thingy all the time again. Mrs. OCD is a kind & generous lady, to say the least.

My first IBT is on it's way to me (first carto tank period) so I have a question. I'm sure it has been asked before and apologies for the repeat but I can't find the answer.

I have watched many videos and all show filling the cart without the thingy. Is it better for a newbie to use the thingy and is it possible to get too much or not enough in the cart? How do you know when it's enough?

TIA, I am looking forward to my order arriving!

Personally, I use the thingy whenever possible. It just makes it so easy. You should get a pamphlet with your order that will explain how to use it. Basically, insert cart into tank, fill tank and seat the carto. Put the whole tank (less drip tip) into the thingy. Put the cap on the thingy and screw an unscrew the cap repeatedly. You will see air being forced out the hole(s) in the carto, and that air is being replaced by liquid from the tank! I usually fiddle until a little juice comes out of the 510 connection. Sometimes I still drip a little into the top of the carto, but might not really be necessary. I usually start with low power and a few shallow draws just to make sure I'm fully primed and nothing is burning. Then I turn it up a notch or two at a time until I get to the right volts/watts. Enjoy your IBT! Great product!

Overfilling a carto tank using the thingy method just means running some liquid down through the center tube. I try not to do this because it is a bit of a gurgly start but they will clear up. Real slow, long easy draws is how I usually clear a tank that is starting to get a bit wet.

What I do when fiddling a tank is pull it out of the thingy several time to look at the filler inside to see if it is beginning to get wet looking. As soon as it looks a little wet I will usually give it one more fiddle. If you get a drop of liquid out the cartomizer then it is fully saturated.

Next step is to get it going, short one second or less presses on the fire button during a regular draw until it is producing vapor. Doesnt hurt to turn the power down too if you can. The idea here is to make absolutely sure the coil has liquid on it before giving it enough power to actually push the coil to red hot. If the liquid is not there to prevent the coil from going red hot and you give it enough power to do so then you are likely to singe the wrapper around the coil and generally once that happens the taste will be off for that cartomizer.

There is a flyer that will come int he package with your tank. Be sure to look it over and follow it as best you can for priming. The time between putting in a new cartomizer and getting that first draw from it is what makes all the difference in what kind of experience you will have with a cartomizer tank. Once you get the process down setting up a new cartomizer only takes a minute or two and filling a tank with a primed carto in it only takes seconds.

Hope you enjoy your new tank.
