Do you miss analogues?

I know this may sound silly but do you miss ever miss analogues?I'm preparing to go smoke free and have tried an ecig a little bit over the last few weeks but seem to crave the taste and buzz of an analogue.

Anyone else feel the same?

Do you find the cravings for a an analogue subside after a few days of vaping?

Thanks
Rob

I did for over a year. I bought some unflavored WTA a month or two ago. Cravings are gone. I just add 1 drop per 5 mls and it works for me. Each individual is different.

BTW - I smelled that sweet smell of a freshly lit cig many many many times throughout the year. I would be watching tv in bed at midnight and smell it. It was awful, not smelling just the craving. I even woke my wife up because I would smell it every night. I walked around the house, inside and out. Finally am free of that.

I don't miss cigarettes, even a little bit.

I realize I'm lucky in that sense. I guess we all have different physiologies and metabolisms.

My cravings lessened when I dropped to 6mg nic.

Before that, I almost felt like I might bum a smoke from somebody, under the right circumstances, when I was vaping 18 and 12mg. even though I didn't really miss cigs. I thought I'd experiment w/the dropping nic level thing to see if it lowered my nic cravings and it did. Again, my body is not your body.

I don't think any one answer is helpful, since like Bluecat says, a little WTA helped them, etc.

I believe part of it is psychology, so pick up a copy of Allen Carr's The Easyway to Quit Smoking. A classic and he won't beat you up or make you fearful. He just prepares your head.

Yes... now and then, I do. It has been two months since I quit.

But I'm in a good (but terrible) position. Several weeks ago I lit one and 3 drags of it made me sick. So even though I think I want it, I know it will make me sick and yet I still want it anyway (Oh gawd no I don't). But the feeling goes away after 5-15 minutes. I distract myself and just vape instead.

I missed them for the first couple of weeks or so, especially at the times I had always most enjoyed a cig; my morning wake up routine, after meals, etc. I vaped a higher nic tobacco flavor juice to help get me through those times. After 6 months of no smoking I still have fleeting moments of wanting a cig now and then, but the urge quickly passes now.

Interesting you should mention that book! It was responsible for one of my best quits - cold turkey - a few years ago. But it only lasted 4 months - I was a basket case by then.....LOL Now, if I'd known about vaping, I'm sure it would have been successful long-term :p

I've just read the allen carr book but it suggests not to use subsitutes.

Isn't an e cig a subsitute?

I smoked for 37 years. It took me a bit more than a year after switching to e-cigs to get to the point that I knew I would never smoke again. I really don't think it would have been possible for me to get to that point without using a substitute for a while.

It's been two years now. I vape zero nic. I got up at around 8:00 this morning and didn't have a puff until around 11:00. I don't vape much anymore and rarely take gear with me when I go out. It's not a substitute anymore, it's just a habit and a hobby now.

Whatever works for you is good. Vaping doesn't work for everyone but for a lot of people it makes the difference that makes it possible. For some people vaping makes quitting pretty easy, but you still have to want to quit and commit to it.

Best of luck with it :thumb:

Yes, I'm just over 6 weeks smoke free from 20+ cigs per day for 20 years.

I enjoyed smoking, and I hated the morning vape for the first week or so (and evening meal times).

The hardest part was biting the bullet, I lost count of how many last cigs I had. I couldn't cut down gradually, one cig was an excuse to have one more.

After THE last cig, I kept telling myself it's no big deal, the shop is just around the corner if I really need a cig.

After the first day (morning was really tough) I had a little more motivation because 24hrs was a huge milestone for me, then I definitely didn't want to wipe out my 48hrs milestone. After a week I started thinking 'just one' but I refused because I know a second, third... would follow.

It got easier each day, much easier each week. I enjoy vaping now (took a while to find a set up to suit me, and stop making excuses).

I had an evening feeling queasy, was tempted to by some cigs because I really couldn't face the desert flavours I had. Luckily I had a coffee flavour tucked away in the cupboard which I now keep in stock (adv)

I don't think about cigs much now, I even survived a day out with a smoking friend but I know if I ever have 'just one' it will be a slippery slope.

This coconut flavour is keeping me well on track just now. Don't think I would have made it this far without this forum, thanks everyone :)

Now I just got to stop buying vape stuff and give poor postie a break!

I've found that vaping tastes so good, so that blow away all my urges for a ciggy.
Sure i think of them sometimes but i quickly change my minds when i think of how gross they actually are in terms of taste & smell. Not to mention all the chemicals.

I got of the ciggys from day 1, i guess i'm quite lucky in that regards.
