Do you miss anything about smoking?

This is a question that popped into my head yesterday when I was lighting the grill to cook Memorial Day dinner. I didn't have a lighter. After the initial panic, I remembered that there is a self igniting propane torch in the basement. Cigarette lighters have so many more uses than just lighting cigarettes, yet those uses aren't usually common enough to warrant carrying one around with you all of the time.

That is about all that I miss. I had always thought that I would miss the cigarette breaks at work. That ended up being a non-issue. I can accomplish so much more when I can vape at my desk. I don't miss going out in the weather at all. A co-worker has complained that he lost his smoking buddy. I initially told him that I would still join him, but that ended up being a lie.

Overall, my transition from smoking (for 26 years) to vaping has been an easy and positive one.

I don't really miss anything about it. I certainly don't miss going out to the back porch for a smoke. It was in the 90's here yesterday and very humid. I remembered those days of sitting on the back porch smoking (of course, I was outside working on a project for the wife when the memory of those days hit me). Now I can vape in the house.

Fortunately, I have had the need for a lighter yet...

Not at all. I smoked little cigars (cigarillos) and I had to make sure I was stocked up or I would need to make a special trip to the store.When winter hits here, that can be a real pain in the .....

Also, I was embarrassed by the fact that I was still smoking when so many have quit.

Then there is the smell that gets on everything.

No, I don't miss it at all.

I don't miss anything about it either really.

I still buy and use lighters though, as you said they do have other uses (I do like my candles). And my ashtray has been repurposed as a small-things-catchall. It has a few pretty marbles, earrings, etc. Makes me wonder where I put those things before

Get some kitchen matches for your grill or candles, or what have you. It works so much better than a lighter. When an urge hits you, just say, "I choose not to smoke." It works! Get away from the familiar. Go in an opposite direction!

The availability, where I come from I haveto order everything and it takes forever to ship it.

On the other hand I can easily build up a good stock with juice, if I had alot av cigarettes lying around I would just smoke more av give more away.

A lot of my friends smoke still. I guess the thing I miss most is the "smoker's circle" where we all go outside and just stand around and BS. Now, we will go eat or something, and they will get up and go out to smoke while I will just sit at the table and feel left out, lol.

I still always carry a lighter on me, though. Just habit.

In the beginning, I missed the defined time period of having a cigarette. There was a beginning and an end.
Now that I've been vaping well over a year, I find I can go much longer without nic.

But I miss the stink, the mess, the foul dirty ashtrays, the film on my car windows, the nic stain on my fingers, the mild chest rattle I used to have in the morning...

Short answer NO!

Long answer, NO! I don't miss the stinky ashtrays, the holes burned in my clothes, the smell everywhere, the negative health effects, the coughing up gunk all the time, or the expense.

Even though I don't miss actually smoking, I DO miss rolling! I haven't rolled a cigarette in five months now. It's also a bit troubling not always having a lighter, opening beer bottles used to be so much simpler.
But I do love my new hobby, tinkering with coils gives me joy!

Glad to say that I miss nothing. I hated the smell it would leave on my clothes and breath (the gf had major issues with it), and nasty butane after-taste.

With vaping, I don't need to worry about that. All I'd need to worry about is what flavor to choose.

And NO, I do not miss anything about smoking either. I have everything I want - the inhaling, the flavor, the nicotine, but without the harmful smoke as such. Vaping rocks!

I miss the ease of lighting up and like other said, the psychological "end" . I miss the weight and size of a cigarette. Unfortunately its impossible to get a small e-cig that performs like the larger devices. I do miss the smell of the cigarettes of the past.
When I say the smell of the past, I mean the good cigarettes one could get 20 years ago or more , that were actually made of tobacco leaves.

I miss that outside "smokers' circle" too. I still go out with them but stand a little bit away so I don't have to smell it or smell like it, discreetly, of course, so I don't look like of "those" ex-smokers.

The only time that I really miss smoking is not having one after some "quality time" with my hubby...But I do have a good cig alike that I keep on hand for when it really calls for one! LOL
