I did for a while though I can't tell you what, exactly, I missed. And I still like the smell of tobacco smoke. I just don't have any urge to smoke (surprised me, I figured I'd have to run from any hint of smoke but... no). But now, I don't really think about it at all. It's something I used to do. Past tense. Can't say I miss it anymore. vaping is just better...

to ecf and so glad you are doing so good. I had absolutely no withdrawal or issues when I switched over and have been loving it ever since. I forget a lot of things, but I hope I never forget how bad the last cigarette tasted to me. Good luck to you and happy vaping. :)

In the beginning, I missed the defined time period of having a cigarette. There was a beginning and an end.
For me the beginning was shortly after opening my eyes in the morning and the end was when I retired to bed at night. From that perspective, vaping hasn't changed a thing for me. :D

I actually find it liberating that I can pick up a mod and take however many drags I care to, without having to commit the time it would take to smoke a whole cigarette.

Having just quit analogs a couple of days ago, there are still lots of things that I miss about smoking; however, I don't miss the smell. That's one of the big reasons I have kept vaping. The smell of cigarettes makes me nauseous now.

Well, congrats on giving up cigarettes! And, welcome to ECF :)

Absolutely nothing. Don't even think about it. I look at all them smokers out there, and just think, they have no idea what they are missing out on.

If smokers only knew:

The enjoyment of keeping a selection of flavors
Options on the great variety of kit to use
Experimenting with ohms/volts/watts
Building coils
Finding new and better ways to steep
New and better ways of inhaling
And the end of the week cleaning the kit... sure beats cleaning out a smelly ash tray at the end of the week

Just love Vaping! :toast:

obviously i'm in the minority - i do miss smoking. i miss always having a lighter around. i miss having a definitive "beginning" and "end" of a smoke break. i miss the calming feeling of a cigarette that vaping doesn't quite give, taking the edge off when your nerves are up or being the icing on the cake when you're already in a state of ultimate relaxation. i miss tapping off the ash with my thumb and flicking the .... with my middle finger. i miss the way the tobacco complements a good glass of whiskey. i miss opening up a new pack and turning over the "lucky" smoke. i miss the simplicity of knowing that this is my brand, so this is what i'm going to buy every time i walk into the gas station or liquor store. i suppose the best way to describe it is i miss the habit.

does this mean i'll go back? not at all! i like the way i feel now, that i can exercise without hacking and coughing, that i can taste and smell my food. i don't vape inside at work or in public, so i still do tend to hang out in the smoker's circles, and i still do get my "smoke" breaks.

so yes, i do miss smoking, perhaps in the same way i miss elementary school - it was a big part of my life for a long time, but now it's a part of my life that only exists in the past.

A lot of my friends smoke still. I guess the thing I miss most is the "smoker's circle" where we all go outside and just stand around and BS. Now, we will go eat or something, and they will get up and go out to smoke while I will just sit at the table and feel left out, lol.

I still always carry a lighter on me, though. Just habit.

I think you still need to go outside with them when they smoke, only you can vape! That is, if being around smokers doesn't bother you. It does not bother me at all, and I don't mind the smell, either. My niece smokes and she is welcome to smoke in my home, as I was always welcome to smoke in hers when I was a smoker.

There is a certain something with traditional cigarettes that vaping doesn't quite deliver in terms of effects. I don't think the only compound in cigarette causing the subjective effect is nicotine. I do smoke from time to time. Especially when I am drunk : it just seem like my brain feels like vaping is not the real thing. Don't misunderstand me, I love vaping and I introduced several friends one of whom totally stopped smoking, but when going out, vaping seems to just not cut it. At least to me and for now.

It has to be noted though that I never really felt the adverse effects of smoking. My habit have been quite light and I could just not smoke for a couple of days without problem, as much as I had nights when I smoke more then one pack alone. So maybe the payoff is not as strong to me : only intellectual (I know it's less bad for my health) and financial (and even then a pack a week as it has been sometime, is not really a whole in my pockets, a pack a day is).

Only one thing I can think of, that is the look on people faces when they road in my truck and saw the air freshner hanging from the mirror that had a "no smoking" symbol on it while I was having a smoke. Or even better was when they would say "you don't smoke in your vehicle" and I'd say "its just an air freshner go ahead and light up, I don't care". hehehehe.
