I really miss the going outside part. It was always signaled by something, like finishing a bunch of work up, or getting ready to switch to some new task. Now, I vape all the time, so it seems like there's no breaks to punctuate my day.

I've been considering the idea of making myself vape outside only, so as to (1) abbreviate the constant-vape-syndrome I apparently suffer from and (2) to make myself feel like I'm having a real "break" of sorts.

I was thinking that the upside to this is that now that your whole rhythm is thrown off, it would be easier to quit vaping someday if you chose to do so. Almost like the pressure is off.

I thought about your question a minute before responding. I have to say "nothing". I miss not one thing about analogs.

I gave them up the day i got my Joye 510. I don't miss anything about the analogs and the lack of having that cigarette smell is oh so awesome.

In regards to smoking outside, anywhere other than home I still vape outside. Just as if i were smoking an analog. I just won't vape in a restaraunt or anything, just don't want people wondering about it. When i am out and everyone goes outside for their smoke break, i go with them and vape.

I don't vape during the day, so at work is a non issue.

I actually miss the simplicity of analogs. Light it up, smoke it, put it out. With e-cigs it's like, find the perfect mod, stock up on atomizers, find the right juice, drip drip drip, wipe of the leaking juice, etc etc.. and I also constantly wash my hands for fear that I have nic juice on them before i touch my kid.

But I'd much rather go through that than smoke.

I don't know if I miss things exactly.
But there were things I liked, like opening a new pack (The smell is exciting), getting the first one out, tamping it, cupping, striking, and lighting my zippo, snapping it shut, dropping it back in my pocket, blowing out a cloud of smoke, staring off in that nicotine induced trance, and thinking "life's good".
Flicking ashes and cigarettes, watch them fly away.

I have only been vaping for 2 days now, but am already anticipating the bar scene and how ecigs will replace analogs. I may miss certain social aspects of smoking at the bar scene like: getting a change of scenery (which may be rainy, below freezing, or nice summer night), an excuse to get out of a crappy convo "Be right back I'm going to have a smoke" hehehe not!, bumming a light off someone (works as a good ice-breaker), even given analogs out. I have yet to experience going out without cigs but I hope ecigs reigns king in the party scene. I'm rootin' for ya!

I miss something really esoteric. And after the first few weeks, when I stopped missing the taste, the breaks, etc, this is STILL what I miss when I'm having a bad day. It's not often... but today is one of those days.

I miss how defiantly stupid, poetically morbid, and just totally insane smoking is.

There's a poetry to knowing what your own demise will be. There's something brave and idiotic about staring death in the face every time you light up - which for me was 30+ times a day.

I was really brave, and really idiotic. That's kind of troublingly sweet.

I don't know if that's going to make any sense to anyone - maybe I'm off in Writer Land. But once the physical stuff went away... that is what I still sometimes miss about smoking.

Vaping is so clean, so innocent, so embracing of life. And I love all those things about vaping.

But when I'm in a bad mood... I want to do something brave and idiotic.

I must be nuts.

But, at any rate, a little bit of snuff seems to help alleviate that urge for me. Don't know why. Maybe it's an MAOI thing - it is mood altering.

I miss being 'bad' in general. Now that I vape, I can't feel like a rebel anymore. It's like admitting I'm mortal.
Vape in the car with windows rolled up. Everyone thinks you're smoking and thats a no-no even with most smokers.
I do this while sitting in the car when I go to pick up my little girl at school. No one has said anything but I know all those soccer moms are taking notice and labeling me.

Sweet. You are poetry. I love that and totally agree.

No you're not.
There is a dark side that many embrace, others cannot or will not see or look at.
Also an element of self destructiveness that prevails within some by nature.

I think I was installed with a self-destruct button in case I tried to take over the world. The switch is just a bit janky - doesn't always work right. So sometimes it makes me see meaning in stuff like carbonizing my lungs.

Also, I keep forgetting to eat. I don't miss it, I just keep forgetting, until sometimes I start shaking and have to hurry and grab a potato chip or something before I'll pass out (haven't passed out yet).

I forget to eat all the time on analogs. I don't think I will miss anything about smoking them.

Hehe. Good thread, and I agree with every post.
Ironically, I started smoking when the policy at work first forced people outside. I'd take a cigarette outside and not light it, just to get an approved outside break. Then I lit one...
Now I still smoke original Camel non-filters occasionally because they totally kick ..., and I miss the stuff you all have mentioned.
But mostly I vape and enjoy vaping much more.
