TDM is right.

And if it isn't cell phones, its something else, thats the point of my other post.

Stupid people do stupid things. Sometimes, a smart person will do something stupid, and that sucks. But for the most part, its .......

this about sums it up: "Stupid people do stupid things."

too bad other people have to pay for it; even when being careful, you get t-boned for crossing a green lit intersection

I completely forgot (my hubby is a trucker too Mouse, but a local one) that one of my husband's co-workers crashed his 18 wheeler into a car killing someone last year while texting on one phone in his lap and talking on a cell between his ear and shoulder...yes, he was a very stupid person..They took all of their company cells away.

I think to me the thing is, there are obviously a lot of people that can do it and still drive well, but what about that other idiot that can't (like hubby's co-worker) and hits you?

What it comes down to is, the idiot will do something else stupid, and be putting you at the same risk. Fiddling with a radio? BAN RADIOS! Talking to a passenger? BAN PASSENGERS! Reading a book? BAN BOOKS! Eating a bowl of cereal? BAN CEREAL!!

Seriously, you can do this forever. Stupid people do stupid things. It doesn't matter what device they are doing something stupid with - they will do something stupid regardless. I've seen it. The references I made were real accidents, with real people hurt, sometimes with innocent people killed.

But I don't think we should ban mirrors and cereal because of it.

This is true. I know my capabilities. People who see my computer set up have a hard time imagining using it. Its weird it's just what I am used too. Like right now I am parked and I am STILL typing one handed. I can usually type as fast if not faster one handed. Is this something every trucker can do?? NO!! I have met a few guys that have trouble just driving straight. Thay why when other truckers say I should drip my prodigy its dangerious!! OOH SCARY I guess it's just what you get used to. You learn to do it. The only problem I have is dripping at night. I need a good way to make my juice glow in the dark so I can see the drops. Any ideas??

A local talk radio station was discussing this video the other day, and people were calling in in droves about how they had showed it to their teenagers, and they were appalled. Apparently, it has some influence over those who watch it. Young folks never think this could happen to them. This gives them something to think about. Not a solution but a start.

On an unrelated note, the other day I dropped my PV while driving. It fell to the floor and rolled under the seat (sort of - I have a manual, so it doesn't go far).

With an analog, I would have been pinging and comepletely distracted with trying to fish it out from under the seat before it started a fire. How nice it was to have the luxury to just wait until the next red light, and search for it at leisure.

Another plus for PVs.
