My goal was to quit 'smoking' period.

vaping has helped me get off cigarettes, which I am doing pretty well with (3 months now sans one minor fall off the wagon). But it hasn't done anything for my nicotine addiction. Truth be told, it may have actually made my nicotine addiction worse, but that is a different discussion altogether.

While I am quite happy, joyous actually to be away tar, carbon monoxide, and God only knows what else from a pure health perspective, not to mention the financial and smell coefficients, I'm still in-taking nicotine and to a degree 'smoking'. One can split hairs as to whether vaping is 'smoking', which I do not intend to do here. It is more of a high level term. Sorry for lack of a more appropriate term. My point is that I am still inhaling nicotine and ????. It is also taking up quite a bit of my time (here, and searching and mail ordering juices, etc) as well as requiring some $$$ to support my new 'habit' (albeit not as much as I think a pack (or more) of cigarettes did a day).

My question is this:

Are you quite content and satisfied to be vaping with no plans to quit as opposed to smoking or is there anyone else out there that thinks of vaping as maybe a reverse gateway to quit everything altogether?

For now, I am happy to be off the death sticks. But I would eventually like to completely do away with the nicotine addiction, the oral hand to mouth habit, gain back my time and 100% of the $$$ that goes to support my habit(s); old and now new, including vaping.

What say you?

I think everyone's different. I didn't actually think I'd ever quit smoking because I really didn't want to & I didn't think vaping would really work for me but it did. Personally I don't intend to quit. But I've seen many a success story of those who were able to step down their nic over time & eventually down to 0.

If that's what you want to do then it is definetly possible! Just don't try & move too quickly. That's how you move back to the stinkys. Step down on the nic gradually & at your own pace. Don't feel bad if you step down & have to move back up. it just means you're not ready to drop yet. Whatever you do...do not have a ciggy!! You can & will get there! Good luck my friend!

I don't feel anywhere near the same level of craving from vaping that I did smoking. After an hour or several I would be off my nut for a smoke. I don't feel that way at all towards vaping and forget about it altogether for hours at a time.

Never planned to stop vaping and haven't made any steps towards stopping, but I think that if I did I would have a better chance of success now than I did with cigarettes.

Nope! No plans to quit here. I love love love vaping. More so even than I did smoking. The only reason I quit smoking was for the health benefits of getting off all those thousands of harmful chemicals.

Same here, and I have lowered my nicotine currently using 12mg. I plan to go down to 6mg in the near future. I'm not sure about going to 0 though. I think just getting down to 6 is good enough for me. Nicotine in not too large of doses isn't any worse for you then caffeine at least from what I understand and I enjoy the boost it gives me. I don't plan to ever stop drinking coffee either.

Yes! When my vapegear is pried from my cold lifeless fingers. :D

Short-term I do not intend to stop vaping. I was addicted to the physical and social aspects of smoking more than the nicotine. Vaping allows me to have both in what I believe to be a healthier manner. Long-term I expect to get to 0mg nicotine liquids and continue getting my vape on!

Thanks all.

As I mentioned in the original post, I am quite happy vaping and thus, not smoking those damned nasty cigarettes.

Quite happy indeed.

Part of my problem is my nicotine addiction has been paired with a caffeine/sugar addiction in the form of Mt. Dew. I have all but cut that out with the exception of 1 per day. I was never a coffee drinker.

So, I am trying to let myself down gently. One step at a time. Still getting a little caffeine/sugar (from the 1 a day Dew) so I am trying to balance the nicotine intake so as not to put myself into too big of shock.

I never thought I would quit smoking, not because I didn't want to after 20+ years, but because that dang monkey had its claws firmly sunk into my back. I have tried many times, using almost every conceivable method known to man except hypnosis. I managed to quit on a couple of occasions, but the longest period was only a few months.

I'm quite indeed that the monkey has been tamed.

I see stepping down nicotine levels slowly (I have already gone from 24mg to 18mg and am using some 12mg here and there). Nothing drastic (like 24 straight to 6) and nothing too fast, but slowly over time I plan to get down to 6mg and eventually 0mg.

Only then would I consider trying to wean myself from the oral fixation if I decided to.

But for now, I am happy being a reformed smoker and new vaper.

Yes, quite happy indeed.

Cheers, Blue Skies, and Happy Vaping!!!

Sugar and smoking at the same time has gotta be tough! I quit sugar too. The only sugar I ingest now is from green vegetables and bit of dairy (lactose), but I quit it and had it under control before quitting analogs. Vaping actually helps me keep it under control. The sweet flavors completely and totally satisfy my urge to eat sweets.

Then again, my sugar addiction wasn't tied to one particular item. It was just all sugar all the time.

I don't ever, ever plan to quit caffeine (gasp!), but I am thinking about cutting out the Coke Zero. If I could get my chemicals down to only what is present in coffee and water, I think that would be sweet. I don't want to push it by cutting out too many things at once, though. Some day soon maybe.
