Hello, bananas . . . Welcome to the ECF boards. vaping is a solid and proving way to quit smoking, as many of us have succeeded in using this platform.

Yes, there is so much information here. Continue to read and ask some questions. I trust that vaping will prove to be a productive venture for you.

Thanks eratikmind! I am so impressed with this forum and I am grateful to have found it. This is the first time I've really truly been able to imagine quitting smoking, ever.

When I first picked up an ego starter kit, it was my plan to use it to a) quit analogs, and b) eventually stop vaping. I'm now two months in, and I've not seen any reason why I should actually quit that. In that period I've acquired multiple mods, and I'm only looking to acquire more. It's less of an addiction now, more of a hobby these days -- it's interesting how that's changed for me in the past couple of weeks.

My first post! I haven't even started vaping yet but I plan to order a starter kit this week, once I wrap my head around this whole concept a little more. I've vaped a tiny bit - my dad bought a couple Greensmoke starter kits (the kind that look like analogs) for he and my mom a couple years ago, and she wasn't really into it so he gave it to me. I messed around with it for a few days but never really got the hang of it.

Ultimately, my goal is to cut waaaaay back on smoking. Once I get that far, I'll decide whether or not to go further (eg cut out the nicotine altogether, stop completely...)

I'm a little overwhelmed by everything. I have been rolling my own for almost 20 yrs (American Spirit organic), and I am thinking I should start with an eGo starter kit. I need a strong TH and a decent nicotine level to start. I want to start off smart, not cheap. I've already come to terms with the fact that this may cost me more than smoking, since I'm a roller.

Anyway, there are some initial thoughts as I try to build my post count between reading the miles of excellent and daunting text all over this forum.

It is confusing at times. So much info.

You could try disposables at first. Just to get a "feel" for it. Blu and Njoy are widely available and don't cost much. I wouldn't recommend Blu's kits (I bought one, I dumped it in two weeks... yeesh) but their disposables are decent. Njoy, I didn't care much for myself but that was because it was much like a "full flavor" cig and I prefer lighter. But you could play around with those while getting "up to speed" on what kind of kit you want.

Though eGo is very popular. I might move to one myself in time..

My plan is to vape FOREVER.
Exactly ! I am actually doing less nicotin than at first, but still love my vaping and do not have any intenition of quitting. On April 14th, I am four years analog free. Have been vaping nearly 5 years.

I don't see me giving it up now ! LOL

My plan was to quit smoking. I did:toast:! I started smoking at the age of 9. One pack every two weeks. By 12, I was up to PAD. For many years, I was 3 PAD, until I had my first heart attack at 26:shock:. Then I cut down to PAD and stayed there, (except when I drank, or got over stressed). At 43, I had over a dozen heart attacks, in one year. I was in the hospital having stints put in, with 3 nicotine patches on, and still sneaked out for a smoke:evil:. Often I would have to take a nitro tablet when I lit up. :danger:My cardiologist informed me that nicotine constricts the blood vessels. I hated my morning ritual. Every day, I would cough, hack, and spit repeatedly for about an hour, with a couple of nose blows, and a couple of cigarettes in between. I had an aunt, and a step-mother, who smoked 3-5 PAD. Both died of lung cancer. Like them, I knew smoking was killing me, but I could not stop:smokie:. I tried everything. Or so I thought. My sister got a cheap gas station analog look alike, and let me try it. I was underwhelmed. A friend with a similar nicotine addiction, also tried them. He couldn't get through an 8 hr. day at work, with only a few cigarette breaks. He got an ego kit to use at work, all day. He assured me that it was better. I went to a local B&M store, where I was allowed to sit in a comfortable environment, and try out different flavors, for over an hour:vapor:. I bought my last pack of cigarettes on 1 Mar., 2013. That same day, I got an ego starter kit, with several bottles of juice, and a spare tank. The staff recommended I start with 24 mg. of nicotine. I wanted to be sure to satisfy the urge, so I got 36 mg. of nicotine. Big mistake! I came very close to taking a nitro tablet. I immediately got some 18 mg. juice to dilute my 36 mgs. down to 24. After one week, I bought 18 mgs. and 24 mgs. to get a 21 mg. mix. I may or may not lower it to 18. Right now I'm happy with 21. It's only been one month, but WOW! What a difference. I still cough, hack, and spit, once or twice in the morning, but not for an hour. I can breath! I can taste food! My B&M store is on the second floor. I run up the stairs to get my juice. Who knew I could still run.:rickroll:
Smoking was bad for my heart and lungs. One of those is no longer an issue. So what about the other? All of my heart attacks where related to one or more of the following: Over exertion, Stress, Smoking too much, (when drinking or over stressed), and/or depression. (I corrected my diet over a decade ago). The over exertion was closely tied to shortness of breath. (This included sex, the lack of which added to depression:cry:, and didn't help with the stress either:-x). The only real concern, is the amount of nicotine I use, in a short period of time. I was a chain smoker, and now I am a chain vaper. It never occurred to me before, to count the number of puffs on a cigarette. It's 20+ for a 100. I smoked more than one cigarette per hour. I vape 2 or 3 puffs every 10 or 15 min. I don't know how they compare, in the amount of nicotine consumed in a 24 hr. period. I do know I feel better every day. I quit smoking! I don't care if I never quit vaping.:vapor::headbang: I can live with that. Let me re-phrase that. With that...I can live!

I just read your milestone thread in the success stories section, I LOLed at the end. I can't even fathom the idea of 'accidentally' quitting something I have done for so long. Congrats to you!

I've actually gone ahead and ordered a starter kit with both a Vision Spinner and an eGo-C Twist, along with a Vision Ego Clearo and a Kanger T3. I have this fear that if I don't start off with equipment that I know can be good quality I will just doom myself. I know how my mind works and if I try a mini or disposable I will be disappointed and quit quitting. So instead I am committing to a real up-front investment to force myself to take it seriously. I got a few small bottles of different liquids (flavors and strengths) and I am so excited to start trying this out.

^^Thats how I think, I knew if I didnt have the equipment to make this work well, I'd only be shooting my self in the foot. I dont really know if I want to ever quit vaping, I mean, I am not even two weeks in yet and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS! It is amazing... I sit here and vape all day (which is the only thing I want to slow down on at this point) because I dont have to go outside, I love the taste, I love the effect overall! I am on 24mg juice, I was only a PAD smoker, so this may be a little too much so I have some 18mg to try as soon as I feel comfortable doing so...

At this point I want to VAPE TILL I DIE!

I successfully switched from smoking to vaping. :) A few months later I successfully reduced the level of nicotine I used from when I first started vaping. :) Then I realized I'd lost my addiction to nicotine :)

I continue to vape because I want to, not because I have to. Most of the time I use 0 mg nic but sometimes I choose to use some low level nic. No different for me then how I deal with caffeine. Most often I avoid caffeine, but some times I enjoy a cup of caffeinated coffee or soda. :)
