Soon we'll start seeing disclaimers: "All models used, real or animated, were 18 or older at the time of image creation."
It's quite sad that it is becoming necessary to cover our ... over such trivial and inconsequential things such as this

Zoid.... after you finish, don't forget to have them inspected by all the relevant govt agencies.... make sure they're safe for the children.... :p

I have to say this.. I was outside on my porch on a lovely Sunday morning. I had my weekend morning cup of coffee (salted caramel with some french vanilla cream). My eldest daughter had just finished making some banana bread. There was a gentle breeze and some of my DIY favorite e liquid had just finished a 2 week rest. Everything was perfect. I had just finished reading the first 5 pages of the Sunday morning paper and reached page 6. At the top, loosely quoted, Ohio cuts in medicare are killing babies. A quarter of the page was devoted to how the cuts in medicare that was voted in will kill babies. Not even harm. Right to kill.

It never ends. That ruined my idyllic moment. I asked my wife if I could cancel the paper subscription. Then wrote an email to the paper about what kind of crap they have in it.

My wife was a social smoker when I met her.
She stopped smoking at some point.

I remember not when.
Nor do I care.

We've been together so long that days fade into weeks, which fade into months and years.

But she never was an anti-smoker.
She just hated the way I smelled after having a smoke.

I always thought that she screwed me over for pulling this stunt.
But I was wrong, because I now know that I did stink.

Now that I am vaping, she wins, and I win.
But I win more.
:D

My wife was the same. When we first started dating back in the late 80s early 90, we would be out with friends. You could still smoke inside at that time. Our favorite place was a jazz club up by UC. You would open the door and a rolling cloud of smoke would billow out. The jazz was great though. She would ask for a smoke. Once we got married, she never did ask for one again. Once we had kids, she asked me to try and quit.

It's sad that it's no longer about what's true but what sells and creates the largest public outcry about some minor or more often completely fictitious injustice

Not to stir the pot, but I remember what got me smoking back when I was seventeen. It wasn't peer pressure, like a bunch of my friends leering around me telling me to try one, it'll make you look cool and popular. Peer pressure by that age was over with. It was just... all of my friends at the time smoked. So I smoked one, two, three, then I bought my first real pack, and then that was that. There was never any discussion of labels, of cartoon characters, or even pretty girls on the box. No one made it sexy, cute, or seductive. There was zero discussion of marketing. Smokes were smokes.

Times change, but do they really? I think this "cute label gives ANTZ ammunition" is silly and we're attributing way too much to the other side. We've always been in a battle. Sometimes it's been more high pitched than other times, but honestly, when we can get to 23 pages of debating over whether or not a cookie gives ANTZ ammunition to destroy vaping as we know it... well, I think we're taking ourselves a bit too seriously.

We can make this as dramatic as possible. Rattle our sabers as much as the ANTZ. But in the end... Good lord, people. It's a gotdamn cookie.
bingo! you win the internet.
that's why those famous studies on flavors and advertising
are 100% sophistry. correct data, wrong conclusion.
one takes up smoking first, then decides menthol Joe
Camels are cool.

If it wasn't for flavors like cutwood boss reserve or white label juice co strawberry custard and 112 (peach and cream) I would have stopped vaping and started smoking again...well I would have before I started to vape because I enjoy it...If it's flavorless vapor it's extremely hard to find a reason to keep using it...the flavor is a major part of the incentive to vape and not smoke...if the flavors go away I'll just stop everything and be pissy that the government too vaping away from me and let's smoking continue

..If it's flavorless vapor it's extremely hard to find a reason to keep using it...

Here's the secret: flavorless brings vaping to a similar level of appeal as nicotine gum. If your goal is to quit inhaling stuff, then unflavored vape helps you with using vape/gum interchangeably. And you can gradually work on completely switching to gum.

P.S. This, of course, if you vape moderately (low nic). If you're beckdg and drip 48mg nic, gum won't work :p

The gum is useless as far as I'm concerned...and I believe it is taxed so the state gets their cut as well...vaping for me at this point is a hobby and something I enjoy...I have multiple flavors so once I get used to one and can't taste it I switch it up so I can once again taste the flavor of said juice...I don't want to quit vaping but if there is no flavors there is nothing to keep my interest because it will no longer be enjoyable

when you started smoking did you choose a flavor before having your first
cigarette? what flavor did you start vaping with?
i'd venture to say if there was nothing but menthol or regular
e-juice flavors available it would be hard to predict what
the retention rate would be.
my point is its not the flavors that initiates the activity.
the activity leads to the flavors and as such should be of
no concerns in terms of regulation. the same hold true
for advertising to a certain extent.vendors are not placing
ads on Saturday morning cartoon shows.there isn't a free
starter kit in a happy meal. no free brightly colored drip
tips in the cereal boxes in the isle at Walmart.
thats advertising.
a flavor is not defacto advertising to children in and of
itself.thats what the ANTZ mean by advertising to children.

mike

The only reason these tactics work is because "we" gave them these tools to use...

We gave them these tools when we did NOT fight the lies when they were about tobacco use.
Now, after 30 years of brainwashing, their agenda has become well-accepted fact.

And that agenda is even more false now, for vaping, than it was then.
But I suspect it's too late to fight it now.

It's ingrained. It's public knowledge.

Anyway, I'm back to liking posts from both sides.
And hating myself for doing it.

And yes, here we all are again, at the dying end of a mainstream thread.
I just hope people are still reading, and considering.

And mostly, I hope they are considering that fighting is better than rolling over.

Is this how far we have come?
Or how far we have fallen?

It depends indeed on the personal objectives. If you want to vape then more power to you. But just in case one day you get bored with it and want to quit, you now know a trick.
