I really don't think so. I have a cold at the moment, but unlike every other cold I've had for the last 40 yrs, this one is not involving my lungs WHATSOEVER -- just making my sinuses feel raw, my throat a bit scratchy, headache. I'm vaping some Pineapple with Koolada in it, and the coolness is nice on my throat and in my sinuses.

I've heard that PG actually is antibacterial; don't know if it has the same effect on virii, but I know this is by FAR the mildest cold I've had in 40 yrs. I had a cold back in January, right before and at the very start of when I started vaping, and with that cold, after I'd had it for about 2 days, I sounded like I needed to be in the tubercular ward -- not this time at all! My lungs are completely clear -- good news for an asthmatic at any time, but when I have a cold? Nearly miraculous.

Not at all. Many, like Rosaj, have had less issues. Myself included. PG is used in places where clean air is a priority. That includes hospitals, food manufacturing, etc. I don't think inhaling PG, at the levels we do, is a concern.

When buying on websites that list ingredients, look for USP labels. Some juice vendors tout that they have very high quality mixing labs. Get to know vendors. E-mail them with the question. I evenslightly chided one that they didn't have it prominently listed on their website.

Going into a vapor store, I once saw a large window that looked into the juice making area. They wore lab coats and it looked neat and clean. I bought juice.

Hope helps

I don't think you are going to find much research on the topic, just personal experiences. There are several discussions on the forum here regarding the PG in juice as a benefit of killing off viruses.

For me... I started vaping in 2009 and found I was pretty much immune to the colds and flus that were going around the house. On a several occasions while the better half was sicker than a dog with the flu the worst I got was feeling a little punky for a day or two with a runny nose. Much improvement I thought since prior to vaping a yearly bout of bronchitis was the norm. I attributed my immunity to the PG killing off any airborne viruses in my air passages and the good hygiene of my wife in regards to her washing hands, etc..

In the last year I did have two bouts of the flu that was going around. What changed you say....... grand kids. I came down with the illness they had shortly after their visit. Since toddlers are known for their running noses, open sneezing and lapse of hand washing I believe my infection was more related to contact than an airborne infection.

Yep. As to the clearing of lungs, when I walk the dog, she gets, still a mile, but quicker walk. She is panting by the end. It helps me, too since my knees are pretty beat up.

My one and only reply is "I haven't had a cold since I started vaping 3 1/2 years ago." Check out the CASAA website and you'll find a slew of scientific studies there. BTW, join CASAA, it's free.

I checked the site out, lots of valuable info on there, thanks for the heads up! Once im not at work using internet explorer 8 (its sad i know haha) ill have to join!

When i was a regular smoker i'd get bad bronchitis at least twice a year. Usually around the the start of fall and then in the spring when it starts to warm up. Usually get one in the middle of winter too. (you try breathing in air that's -60 celsius and see if your lungs don't crap out too lol) I started vaping this past summer and so far i'm over a month past the usual first episode!

I was having a conversation with a friend last night about vaping, and he mentioned the possibility or vaping make you more vulnerable to illness' such as pneumonia. I'm just curious if anyone has any information about that? I haven't seemed to find any research about it.

You can't find any research or factual information about it because it is nothing more than a baseless urban myth. One people like to pass around in terms of "Well everybody knows..." but it's still a myth.

The non factual theory is because you are inhaling a vapor - well vapor comes from liquid - so you must be filling your lungs with liquid. Right? The reality is vaping liquids are hygroscopic - e-cig vapor draws moisture out of you - it doesn't put it in.

Vaping is good.

Yago the Frenchie won't even walk two blocks going and coming from the laundry... He totes his water bottle and the spare cushion cover on his backpack, but he's still 9 months... I try to take him with me on errands, but even with two hip replacements and a heart attack I walk more than he does. Vaping has certainly been good to me, my sinuses are clear for the first time in two years, and my cough is completely gone. I haven't used my puff since I got out of the hospital in May!

Thanks for the replies everyone! From the sounds of it i was right in trying to justify the benefits of vaping over smoking. I've been off analogs for a week today and already I feel alot better than I did last week at this time. Thanks again for the help eveyone!

It's possible (not known for sure, but possible) that vaping is slightly worse for your health than not vaping. But it's 100% certain that vaping is much healthier for you than smoking. We know of a ton of problems with smoking, and those problems don't apply to vaping. The carcinogens aren't there, the tar isn't there, and we've seen many examples of people whose health improved after they stopped smoking and switched to vaping.

If the question is "which is better for your health, vaping or smoking", the answer is clear.

Ok I just have to say I am envious of all of you. I haven't had a cold in years, and figured now that I've switched to vaping from smoking it would only be better. Nope... caught a cold this week and its all in my chest and lungs. Can't sleep, can't breathe, ribs hurt from coughing, thought it would be better not smoking but so far its been worse. Guess I'm one of the unlucky ones....

I do not think that vaping is going to totally exclude someone from ever catching a cold. That being said what you described sounds more like Bronchitis rather than a cold. I am not a Dr but I am prone to bronchitis. Getting Bronchitis or even catching a cold does not mean it will not get better. Possibly as your body is still clearing out the crud from smoking and it made you more suseptble?
You should go see a Dr immediatly. At the very least have someone pick you up some Broncaid or Primatene pills. You need something to help you open your lungs and cough that crap up.
