Does vaping really helps to quit smoking?

I decided to try vaping because it was something new and different and possibly less expensive since cigarettes around here are anywhere from 5-8$ a pack. I should be receiving mine this week and even though I have no interest in actually quitting smoking, I hope it helps me to atleast cut back if not quit totally. I've been a smoker for 10 years or so and have a bad habit of smoking in my house. I really just got an e-cig to remedy that problem but am looking forward to hopefully getting rid of analogs all together.

I do have a question though. For those of you who havent had a cig after your first vape. The juice or cartomizers you decided to start with, were they a high mg of nictoine? I decided to try the 18mg.

18 is a good place to start. That's where I started, since it's middle of the road, and if you find yourself vaping more and it's not quite hitting that spot, you can adjust upward, or if it's giving you low-level headaches and nausea you can always cut it back.

For me, 18mg was okay but it didn't quite hit that spot for me, though I didn't really realize that the strength was the problem at the time -- I thought maybe it was just the lack of cigarettes. (I stopped smoking with my first vape.) Eventually though I did try a 24mg and it finally ticked all the boxes.

Now I've cut back to 12 (24 ultimately overwhelmed me and I seem to have developed a sensitivity to nicotine to the point where even vaping 12mg the same way I vaped 24 is giving me low-level headaches) and plan on cutting back to 5-6mg making my own juices, though I have to wait until my throat hit boosters get here because TH is my main concern and 5-6mg doesn't cut it.

If you are starting out and have found a flavor you like, but are unsure of the nic level that will continue to work for you? Get a 30 ml bottle of 24 mg/ml, and also get a smaller bottle of 0 nic in the same flavor. This makes easy adjustment possible, without the full chemistry set. Too strong? Mix it 50/50. This makes it 12 mg, but it's not cutting the flavor in half like if you just added VG or PG.

Adjust ratio to suit. You can just do it while filling carto/atty... "3 drops of this one, and 3 drops of that one".

I think whether vaping will help you to quit smoking is really quite individual. A lot of people are able to quit smoking as soon as they start vaping, but personally, I still have the odd analog, but I think that may be a symptom of the fact that I am still trying out different ways of vaping and I haven't found a way that completely satisfies me in the same way that smoking did. I find the e-cigs hard and heavy when I'm vaping them and I miss how soft the filter of an analog feels, but that is just me, and I can certainly say that vaping has helped me cut down on smoking from maybe half a pack a day to about one cigarette every other week, and that's without really trying at all.

I have a pretty wide variety. Everything from 10 up to one carto that's 36, with a fair amount at around the 18mg level. I haven't really felt the "need" to use the higher ones specifically - the flavors are more of a driving factor than the nic level.

I started at 36mg and stayed there for several months before dropping down to 24mg. I've repeatedly tried to drop down to 18mg but it just doesn't work for me... yet. I remain hopeful. In the meantime, I don't stress over my nic level. I haven't smoked in close to two years, so I don't care.

How much of what did you smoke?

I smoke about a pack a day, currently pall mall menthol 100's. I went to this from Newport 100's. I am waiting on my starter kit to get here :/

Chik... your story reads a lot like mine. I was partial to Newport 100's for most of my smoking career until I just realized how bad they were for me. So, what did I do??? Went to the regulards and started smoking a couple of those back to back:-(

My initial juice order contains a 10ml Menthol @ 14mg (just for those days that I don't think I'm going to make it) and a couple of 10ml bottles of the excotic flavors at 12mg. I figure the middle of the road 18mg menthol will keep things kosher in my house while I kick the analogs.

Interesting point. I'll have to remember this.

Try nhalers nuport! Taste great and your cartos will love it. It's 24 mg but you can buy a doubler to reduce the nic level.

Don't fear the nicotine when you start. I know people seem to get paranoid about levels but you may need higher to get you off the cigs. You can always reduce it as time goes by.
