Wow! some good stories on this thread! Here's another,
My wife and I are both avid vapers. We started out sharing a riva 510 kit. She quit as soon as she got it in her hand. It took me about 3 weeks to completely give up cigs. I don't know if I was completely ready to quit but i just didn't feel it was fair to her for me to keep smoking. I was a pack and a half a day smoker she was about a pack a day. prob smoking for 25 years. from the riva we went to a lavatube(me)and an Inferno(her). Loving the clearomizers and tanks because they were not to much fuss. Then I got a Provari in my hand and never let it go. then she wanted to try it and didn't want to give it back. Now we have a nice collection of mods with the provari's as the team leaders. she's getting better she knows the difference between a carto and a clearo... not sure about an atty. She knows how to fill her tanks and change voltage/check/change batteries. before she just knew that her tank was full and batteries charged ready to rock and roll. I show her how things work (if she's paying attention or not)so if I'm not there hopefully she can handle taking care of her vape on her own. on my last job I was working 16 hour days and she called me to tell me she filled her tank all by herself, but don't get mad cause she spilled a tanks worth of juice. I told her I was proud of her and dont worry about it cause I spilled plenty of juice in the beginning. and as far as what we vape we both have similar tastes fruity/candy/baked goods no tobacco flavors. Usually if I like it she does. we have converted about 15-20 people to vaping in our short time at it. I think I had my last cig on feb 1rst. We used to spend alot of time on the porch smoking now we enjoy a vape in the house. we will continue to try to help as many people stop smoking as we can. our clothes don't smell, our cars don't smell and most of all We can breathe!!! Well I don't want to ramble on much more. But thank all of you for sharing and KEEP ON vaping!!!:vapor:

It was really interesting to read everyone's comments. My hubby and I were both smokers, and any time one of us tried to quit without the other, it never worked out. I started vaping first, and although he would try it here and there, he wasn't really into it and quit smoking. I figured he didn't really like the juices I had, so I bought some supplies to make my own, catered to what he likes. As soon as I gave him a juice with his favorite flavors in it, he was immediately hooked and I ended up ordering doubles of all my eGo stuff for him.

When we were smoking, if I tried to quit and he didn't (or vice versa), there was no way it would ever work. With vaping it was a lot different... the smell of smoke was actually gross instead of good, and a couple times when I took a hit off his cig, it was repulsive. Vaping is just amazing to me because I thought I would never be able to quit smoking because I liked smoking so much. Now my hubby loves it just as much as I do, and we are both helping friends and coworkers make the switch.

The wife was never a smoker. So she has no concept of how hard it is to quit a smoking habit. So i start vaping and she's mad now cause I vape all the time while at home. Doesn't care that I have switched to a healthier alternative.

My gf gets the switching part but when she wanted me to quit smoking she never could grasp the addiction when I tried explaining it to her. She still doesn't "get it". The only way I could get her to understand would be to get her addicted but that would defeat every purpose possible.

Its funny you ask that. I started vaping last year (quit analogs in 2007) in hopes of getting her to switch. Now I'm hooked. She used one a few times, said it was ok, but too much fiddling for her. And she got me a ProVari for Christmas last year! Yeah!
NICE! I was gonna ask my GF for a ProVari for my B-day but I couldn't wait so I bought it haha! Sooo glad I didn't wait!

awesome question! my hubby does vape at home but he smokes a few analogs at work. hes trying to quit with me but we are both noobs to vaping and he dont like fiddling with it at work. He is very proud of me since I havent touched an analog since I got my kgo. yay! I understand in his case though cause he works in the oilfield with a bunch of turd guys. They give him ..... about it and say his juice smells like cat pee...i disagree. I just tell him to blow it off and cram it down there throats when they say they have cancer or emphasema (i dont know how to spell) kinda rude but hey what can i say.

My wife and I started just over 2 weeks ago. She had smoked for about 7 years, 10 for me - both a pack a day. I just ran across a mention of e-cigs on a message board and decided to get interested. I'm a tech-lover information-gatherer kinda guy, so I read and watched stuff for hours a day for a couple weeks before finally deciding that I wanted to try it out and to talk to my wife about it....to see what she thought and if she wanted to do try it as well.

Cut to a few days later and we were puffing on our kgo kits. I cut down to about 2 cigarettes a day immediately and have been tobacco-free for a week or so. My wife is having a bit of a hard time finding a juice that completely satisfies her 'cigarette' need, but she cut down to less than 1/2 a pack a day and has not had a cigarette for a couple of days now. I told her when we started that I didn't want to put too much pressure on ourselves to quit right away, and that we should be proud if we can just majorly cut back at first. From our past tries, I just didn't want the pressure and negativity of 'slipping up', as that has usually led to immediate relapse (I'm sure you know the feeling!).

I'm sure she'll get there, and I hope I truly am at this point. I'm pretty sure I can't go back at this point; the last cigarette I had was after 2 days without (heavy meal trigger), and it honestly tasted stale, bland, and a little dirty after all the tasty juice I've had.

*Cheers!*

My partner and I both started vaping at the same time over 2 months ago. I do all the research, buy all the goodies and watch all the reviews, he just gets on with it! Lol

Cigarette free from the first time we vaped other than I had a couple drags of my daughters cigarette a few days ago and couldn't stand the taste.

Best decision we've made but still sampling flavours to get the 'right' ones...so many are just nasty! Lol

I got started with vaping because of my SO. We both smoked and had talked about how we should quit together to make it easier. Last summer he was talking about quitting by just gradually cutting down, etc. I sort of panicked because I didn't think I'd be able to do it and started researching e-cigs. When I got started with them he was excited and ordered a starter kit too. Yay! We were both smoking a few analogs a day and learning about vaping. I realized I could easily get into a habit of both smoking AND vaping and decided to try to totally give up analogs. It was a bit difficult at first but really not very hard. I haven't had an analog since Oct. 2011.
SO, however, has not given up analogs. Hasn't even really tried to. He prefers analogs and has cut down a lot. And he still vapes sometimes. I can't help but be a little disappointed. I wish he would try to give up the analogs but I don't want to bug him about it.
Overall he is very supportive of my not-smoking and I suspect he vapes more when he is with me and smokes more when I am not around. ONCE... exactly once... he hit me with the line, "Well, you haven't really quit you know..." I replied with, "Don't care -- I'm not smoking." I could tell that as soon as the words were out of his mouth he was really sorry to have said it.

MY fiance, once she got pregnant, quit anologs cold turkey because hey made her sick, she vapes with me now and then, but not much, (maybe a hit or two to try my new flavor) because some research we've read says nicotine itself could be bad for the baby, she won't even have any type of cafine for the same reason, but she wants to start after the abby is born cause she still sometimes craves nicotine and doesnt want to go back to analogs

My husband quit smoking cold turkey 3 years ago. He gave me all kinds of hell when I started vaping, all the usual negative "you just replaced cigs" or "whats the difference". But gradually he switched to comments like "that smells good" or "whatcha vaping" then on to "let me try that". Now he vapes zero nic. It was kinda neat to watch him progress in his awareness, and I do enjoy sharing this with him, and am glad he's using zero nic, even tho it means I have to get him separate juice lol. :)

My GF has never had any nicotine (except mine second hand i guess) but she loved the way my fruity juices smelled. I gave her some of my 510 stuff when i upgraded to the EGO-C, and she loves it! She only buys no-nic juices, so she keeps her record of nicotine free, but still gets to have all the fun.

My wife does smoke as well. She only smokes menthol and about half the amount that I smoked. I bought an ego starter kit 3 weeks ago and since money is tight bought her a couple of disposable units from my local vendor to let her try and see how she would like it. She did like it but those disposables don't last very long.

Within a week I was ready to move up to a VV model. While waiting for it to arrive in the mail I let her start using one of my extra batteries from the ego kit and bought her some menthol flavored liquid in a DC carto that came with the kit. She loved it. It wasn't long before she was asking when my new VV was coming in the mail so she could take over my extra battery! lol

I bought her some clove flavored juice last week as she used to LOVE smoking cloves before the ban on flavored tobacco in our area (thanks Obama!). She loved the clove juice and has been using that exclusively.

She was very happy when my Vtube came and she now has her own kit. She uses it much less than me so one of the 900mAH batteries will last her all day and some into the next day. Ha ha, I go through a 2200mAH battery in one day with this Vtube! lol
