Actually the most common cause of the flooding and gurgling is to have pressurized the tank when refilling. The two easy ways to cause that problem are to slip a syringe needle past the o-ring to refill, or to remove the top cap to refill. The air/juice has to go somewhere, and the somewhere is into the center air hole and out the bottom of the carto.

Did you switch juices in the tank recently? The one hassle with these things is your carto hole size has too match the juice thickness.

Hole too small / Juice too thick: Juice doesn't enter the carto fast enough and gives dry hits if you vape it a lot.

Hole too big / Juice too thin: Gurgling from a flooded carto. Thanks, I'll give the VG a try. The carto's fairly new but that's something to think on also.

You might try putting a little VG in your juice and try it that way, see if it reduces the gurgling. If it's not that, your carto may just be wearing out.

    ...my take...
1.7 single coils(Resurrector type) rock out upto 4.2v...will blow most DCCs outta the water at those voltages(1.25DCCs MAY be an exception)...
1.5-2 ohm DCCs kick .... at 5v BUT, my preference at 5v is a 3ohm single coil Boge for all day vaping, reserving the DCCs for a treat with my heavy tobacco flavs.....
...dual coils at 5v sill suck up juice like water thru a hose and should probably use a tank to prevent constant refilling and the (very real) possibility of burning/singing the carto....
...as in all things vaping related, it is all subjective to your personal tastes and YMMV..........

I'm finding that my smoktech dct's aren't sucking enough juice through the pinprick of a hole (I'm using 70/30 PG/VG)...I'm constantly doing dry pulls to rewet the filler. Haven't had any problems yet, but I feel like if I forget, then I end up with a singed carto, which I wanted to avoid with the tank. I'm thinkin about running down to home depot for a saddle valve to make the hole bigger. But I'm worried about: a) the carto flooding and me having to change PG/VG ratios to compensate, and b) how will I know when to stop turning (I'm assuming there's no *pop*, if I'm just widening the pinprick of a hole...Thoughts?

I enlarge any pre-punched carto feed hole in that I found the same issues as you. I've used both types of saddle valves and this one is definitely superior...

BTW, I've had no flooding issues, even when 'punching' to the max diameter.

Honestly have never been a fan of DCC. They have so many flaws to them in general. First, it takes more power to get them to perform at optimal levels. So, I usually use a 1.5 ohm DCC at something like 4.2-5V just to get some good performance out of them. Honestly a 3 ohm Boge single coiled carto gives better performance at that voltage.

Even when they are used at 3.7V. They burn faster then other cartos due to them having two coils. Funny thing is that they don't taste burnt sometimes when it happens. The flavor isn't as good as other cartos as well. Lastly, I hate the draw on them. It's overly too tight for me personally.

I don't really care for them either. They drain the batteries faster, aren't compatible with many of the production mods at voltages high enough to get them performing well, cost more, the vape is nothing special and in my experience don't last as long before the draw gets tight. For a filler carto I'll take a Boge or a Ressurector if I need the capacity any day over them.

I happen to be really fond of the 1.25 and 1.6 ohm dual coils. But, I stock fourteen different kinds of cartos. Everything has its place. I have no use for the 2.0 ohm and above dual coils.

Of all of the cartos I keep a supply of, the only ones I don't care one way or the other about happen to be the 1.7 ohm smoke tech single coil (resurrectors) and the 2.0 ohm boge. I bet that sounds a little strange - probably the two most recommended cartos on the forums are the two I could do without. For me, at 3.7v the 1.25 ohm dual coil or the 1.8 ohm boge (depending on the juice) are a lot better than the resurrectors or the 2.0 ohm boge.

OK - we hear ya! Dual coils are not for you - YMMV so you prefer single coils.
S'okay...there's room enough for all preferences.

    :vapor:

But why the syringe refusal? out of interest...

Personal reasons...have lost a lot of friends to drugs and the thought of holding a syringe makes me ill.

I've been saying the same for awhile now. Compare the same ohms on a single to a dual and it's nothing. Think it was a thing that sounded like the bees knees so much it's become "the emperor's new clothes." But they just drain my battery quicker and use more juice. Yes they can be good. There's no reason to hate on them for those that like them but I can get the same vape with a single coil at similar ohms. Now horizontal coil cartos.....they kick ....!

I keep seeing people say "drains the battery faster". That needs clarification because it isn't true if you compare apples to apples. A 1.7 ohm dual coil (most of the advertized 1.5's actually meter out closer to 1.7) drain the battery no faster than a 1.7 ohm single coil. Dual coils draw exactly the same amps as a single coil at the same ohms. It's the resistance that matters, not the number of coils.
