Thanks so much you guys ((hugs)) I am seriously sitting here bawling because I messed up....and it was all over something I can't do anything about, just got frustrated....I don't think I am going to set back my counter, that would just make me feel even worse, I just hope the awful smell and taste is enough to keep me from doing it again..I get into this negative mind state (like today) and I start to get to feeling it doesn't matter what happens to me and then I just made myself feel worse :'(

Ya know, I'm thinking we COULD just put a little asterisk next to your one-year smoke-free milestone in 6 months, if it makes you feel better.......

Just KIDDING xena.....!!!!!!!!! Lighten up a little. You done VERY, VERY GOOOOOOOOD!! Why not go out a treat yourself to some shiny new vaping stuff and an exotic new juice or two, just for a little extra help !!!!

I couldn't agree more. I quit last Jan 25th. Since I am still vaping nicotine, I tell myself that its all about the cigarettes I've avoided since I decided to make a change. I smoked a pack a day for 17 years. I have had a handful of cigs and each and every time, I can't stand it. Smoking is soo psychological, I hate the taste, but yet went back for more because of the ritual of habit when out with a group of friends and drinking. On New Year's Eve, I was proud to say I didn't go outside once to conversate with the smokers.. Felt proud. I wouldn't beat yourself up, you are making a healthy change for you.

I agree with the others and take it from an 'oldtimer', don't beat yourself up and move forward.

I messed up the first week, just put it behind me and went forward. Been 5 years smoke free now....you can do it. I smoked for over 35 years and never thought I could quit.

Try turning your thinking around a little bit. This is no reason to be upset at yourself at all! You got stressed and upset, thought a cigarette might just be the thing to help you out, but low and behold you tossed that piece of crap 4 hits in!! That my dear is cause for a celebration! What could be better for stress reduction than celebrating? You no longer need cigarettes to get you through hard times and you don't have to convince yourself of that... You PROVED it!

    Congratulations, you rock! :toast:

Oh, yeah... and by the way america...

I was skinny dipping drunk in the pool at some condos with two emergency room nurses that I used to bring patients to. My Provari got dunked ( Still works ) and I smoked a cigarette. Woke up with a horrible taste in my mouth, a hangover, and with the wrong nurse ( I am legitamtley not even kidding )...

I didnt see any reason to reset my counter. I grabbed a cig-a-like at the 7-11 and did the walk of shame back to the other nurses condo. Lessons learned bro.

I didnt return to smoking, my provari always has a number or something lit up when a battery is in it, but still works great, and niether nurse tryed to cut off my drip tip.

You have to look at the positives here.

Resetting your counter after having four puffs and not liking it?
    Ummm, hell no!

The guilt you're feeling is because somewhere along the way you bought into the NOPE garbage.
    (Not One Puff Ever)

That's the junk they spew at the hardcore quit smoking websites where they HATE electronic cigarettes.
Those guys are nutbags, and you have no need for that kind of mindset.

    This isn't Alcoholics Anonymous.

Now that was a funny story!!! How did the other nurse take that?

Xena, your being awfully hard on yourself. 4 puffs is nothing to cry and get so upset about. Stop beating yourself up. Due to your description I must think that much more is going on than 4 puffs of a real cig. Try to go do somethng nice for yourself or something you enjoy doing that makes you happy.

I wouldn't beat yourelf up over a few puffs...if you buy a pack, then you can feel a little sense of failure. I haven't bought a pack in over a year and maybe smoked 5 cigs in that time, but this past weekend I had a .... at a party...not cuz I was fiendin for one, just cuz. A friend was smoking my old brand so i said "let me get one of those, it's been so long", I smoked it and actually enjoyed it a bit...but I haven't even thought twice about having another one, to me that's a major success if I can smoke a .... and not even care to have another one. Funny tho, as soon as I walked back in, my wife said "did you just have a cigarette?" she knew before I even sat back down

She was still sleeping off a hangover when I got back to her house. No drama or hurt feelings. She wasnt that into me anyway...

I am not much of a drinker, but when I went to visit the one nurse we ended up having to hang out with the other nurse for 5 nights straight and they got "white girl wasted" 5 nights straight... Really not my scene... it was fun... but I couldnt hang with either of them full time... way too much drinking!

I intentionally tried to have a smoke after vaping for awhile just to see. It confirmed that I was done with cigarettes. No counter reset. I'm glad I tried it. Now I'm sure.

Ditto! I was elated that I was finally free of cigarettes after 40+ years.
