Hello all,

I read far more than I post, but my progress over the last 8 months I consider phenomenal. I was 1-1.5 PAD analog smoker for over 20yrs. I started with 24mg juice and now I vape nothing but 6mg tasty vapors peach cobbler, mainly because I have a taste for really sweet juices.

I've experienced so many health benefits I can't even list them all and my latest Dr. visit confirms it. Lower blood pressure, better body composition because I can push myself much harder during exercise, no more random coughing, I could go on and on.

My question is, do most strive to quite vaping completely? I would imagine I could get a 3mg juice from smewhere, but I would think with dilution, the nicotine content would be almost like no nicotine at all. I use a ZMax 2 and ViviNova tanks and these days I enjoy the tech just as much as the act of vaping, I could easily continue but not sure if I should.

If I quit 6mg cold turkey am I gonna lose my mind? Do most ppl strive to stop shoving long circular objects in their mouths for hrs upon hrs each day or do they just chug along at the lowest nicotine content available? :p
it comes down to the nicotine content in your blood., if your insurance, and medical doctor are willing to classify you as a non smoker at your current dosage. then i suppose you can keep vaping. dollars and cents paid to the medical community should let you decide the right course of action. also it depends how long you have been smoking the 6 mg. if you give it time your body will surely adjust eventually. not sure, but i guess there are liquid suppliers out there that can custom match juice to further weed you off the nicotine. as for the hand to mouth action associated with smoking. i have been back and forth to my mouth for 41 years. it is learned behavior, and probably the worst part of the addictions to overcome. keep in mind three addictions. you beat the tobacco. you are working the nicotine program, and you just need to find a replacement for the oral fixation. i find mints help a lot. the stronger the better. keep at it. you are coming down the backstretch, no turning from the finish line now.

Hey there Stone,

I think the final decision ultimately comes down to you. We are all different, and will know when the time is right for each of us to make the decision to stop if we choose to. I went to 3mg from 6mg about 2 weeks ago because the 6mg was hurting my throat. I know that eventually my body will tell me when it is time to stop. But, I don't see myself giving up vaping anytime soon. I enjoy the taste of the different juices, so I may keep vaping, even at 0mg. But, that is me. :D

Good luck in whichever decision you make, for ultimately it is for yourself. :toast:

Vaping is fun. DO IT UP!! That's what I say, but if your plan is to quit and it sounds like your almost there, then quit, its the best option. I just really enjoy the whole vaping scene. Also I believe one poster said only crazy people make a hobby out of this..... Well I'm .......n crackers then:banana:

I made a gradual step down.
When I picked vaping BACK up a year ago, after 3 months of misbehaving, I started at 12mg.

I quickly stepped down to 6mg (no sweat).

Down to 3 (still easy).

Moved to 2mg (didn't notice).

Quickly moved to 1mg (quick meaning like a week or two...). WHOA WHOA hold it. Too fast.

Back to 2mg where I stayed for ~6 months.

Just moved down to 1mg a month ago. And I'm trying to vape 0mg at night (need to mix more 0mg though).

I just feel there's no need to rush it. If you move down 1 or 2mg at a time, your body won't even notice.

Once you're down to zero, stay there. Then, if you feel like it, ween yourself off the vape.

I can't imagine NOT vaping, personally ... Switching from smoking was easy for me. But I think most of my addiction to it was the hand-to-mouth, and something to do every hour for 4 minutes.

Now I have my cake, and I vape it too.

Do what feels right to you. But if giving it up cold turkey doesn't work .. go back to vaping and not smoking! You don't want to have to do this again!!!

Good luck :)

Also I think part of the success in making the transition from cigs to ecigs is the novelty, and ecigs becoming a hobby will only ensure you don't go back to the cigs.

wow, thanks for all the encouragement. I'm going cold turkey and see where it takes me, if I need to go back to 3 or 6mg, I'm still far better off than when I started this journey. If I had never found this place, I'd probably still be smoking the analogs. I know they can't advertise vaping as a smoking cessation tool, but I think it's the best one available plus the support from this forum is invaluable.

Honestly, I wouldn't feel all that terrible if I continued to vape, I actually enjoy the experience and the gadgets and vaping does get me up and away from my desk several times a day since I still go outside and have a walk every time I vape. :D

A few asked if I get any throat hit at 6mg. Well the answer is some, but not much at 80/20. The sweeter flavors make that not such a big deal since I have a sense of taste now. When I was vaping tobacco flavored juices, the throat hit was a must.

great post Stone.. its good to see that you were able to taper down to almost no Nicotine!

im teetering between 18 and 24 (still within my first month) and already I love vaping WAY more than regular analogs lol.. so i feel like getting down to 0mg is going to take a long time for me.. im excited to get my taste buds back.. maybe that will help but i already feel way healthier and a lot more noticeable energy!

good luck!!
