I came across this post. I thought it might be worth a try with the 601 to see if it helps with the flavor delivery. I'm getting ready to leave town and don't have time right now to try but I thought I would put the link here in case someone wants to give it a try.

I've found that the pin hole in the cart provides pretty much the same results. I've also noticed that the more I use the pipe, the more the flavorings are coming through. They're certainly not as strong as with my 901, but they're definitely more noticeable.

I see that ruyan direct sell the "DSE601 e-pipe start kit" for $62 (I actually
got the same kits from another site for $10 less) and also "RUYAN bright
color e-pipe with 10pc Cartridges" for $178. The images look very similar.
Anyone knows what the difference is, other than the price?

Which of the two is the version reviewed in this thread? Thanks for any info.

This thread is about the DSE601. I know nothing about the Ruyan pipe other than it has a five year warranty on the atomizer whereas the DSE601 has a one year warranty. The Ruyan ships with seven more pre-filled cartridges, too. I understand the parts are not interchangeable (different manufacturers) even though they look strikingly similar.

So, you really scored and authentic DSE601 for $10 cheaper than ruyandirect, huh? Where would that have been?

I'd be happy to post the URL, except that I can't, being a junior
member. I just checked, and it's still available at the same site
(reseller in Hong Kong) for $52. E-mail me, OK?

My question is: why would anyone shell out $178 for 7 extra
cartridges? They sell both on the same site. So, Is the Ruyan
pipe that much better?

Okay folks, I think I may have solved my flavor issue. Just for kicks I finally decided to buy some Juice Packs from JuicyLiquid.com - I bought P-Nut Butter Cup, Amaretto, and Coffee. I got the flavors only, no fillers and no nicotine. I made a no nic mixture of 50/50 PG/VG to 30ml, then added 2ml of Juicy's P-Nut Butter Cup. I've been trying to find some good no nic flavorings for a while, and I've found that I'm completely useless with Lorann's. Well the JL PB Cup comes through aces. This was one of my enormous hopes for the 601, a very good, high vapor machine with no nic liquid for sitting and watching tv or puffing while I'm working. As expected with 50% VG content, I'm getting huge clouds of thick vapor, and with the PNB Cup, I'm getting tons of flavor. I haven't tried the other two yet, but I suspect the Amaretto will come through nicely as well since it's very aromatic, but the coffee may lack a bit.

I've also got some Capella flavors on the way. Once I get those in and try them out, I'll report back.

For a Nicotine Vape, I've found that Riskee Yuice from ECIS comes through nicely as well. It's a very sweet, very red and noticeably thick liquid. I got it in trade from Nitewriter for a couple of 801 kits. She thought it was too sweet, but I think it's great. Works well in the 601 with VG cut.

One last thing - With a pin-hole in the back end of the cart, I've noticed that if you gently blow into the mouthpiece, it aids in driving the liquid towards the wick...especially when your cart is about empty and you're looking to squeeze those last couple of puffs out of your pipe.

I was literally about to finalize my purchase of a DSE601 at ruyandirect.com before I read all the reviews about minimal to no throat hit. This doesn't sound very appealing. I was hoping to get one of these to be my home smoke, while using my 510 while out and about. The vids asidrave uploaded look amazing, and some drags left both asidrave and leaford speechless for a moment. I'm a bit confused

i still get a good throat hit and lots of vapor with my 601 and its been almost 7 weeks since i got it, the only flavor...for me...that works very well it is mint.

i tried ry4, 555 and coffee with it but did not like it...the flavors were not apparent for me with the 601 and i believe it is because the pipe atomizer is well worn with the mint flavor.

im thinking of getting another 601 just to try other flavors as well as a spare.

the 601 is perfect for me because i can fill a cart...almost 2ml worth of juice, put in a freshly charged battery...at 900MaH... and it will last me almost an entire day. i dont have to carry around supplies for it...just take the pipe and go. you wont get that from any other e-cig hardware.

I too was having an issue with flavors other than mint, nut starting yesterday I decided to try my ry4 again. This time I added a tiny bit of carmel flavor from Lorann's and WOW what a difference. So I have been trying other flavors and they are startin g to come through pretty good. I'll keep trying different flavors and keep posting.
Happy vaping to all

Hey there folks.
Your reviews and follow-up posts are aces for sure! They helped me to go ahead and revive the 601 I had.

I won a full kit in a drawing awhile back and was immediately impressed. I had read all the posts from the 2 of you I could find, so when I got the thing I was up and running with little effort.

There was the smallest little nick in the top rim of the bowl, in the front. Whatever I thought, it's free and the vape is really good!

Halfway through day 2 the little nick had become a hairline crack running down the front of the bowl. Liquid was seeping from it. Damn. 'Nuther 2 hours and it went from hairline to flat-out split. Easy come, easy go.

I went ahead and ordered a replacement at from Midwest last week, got it today. 15 minutes from walking in the front door I was once again smilin' in a big ol' cloud of vapor.

Bring this to a close.
I understand from your info that I shouldn't lay the pipe on it's side as that allows liquid to flow out? I've made a red-neck pipestand, cut-down paper cup with a notch for the stem, until i can get a 'proper' stand.

Do I understand that the pipe should remain with the bowl facing up at all times?

Nuther one, do either of you do any maintenance with yours? Let drain over night or, or, or....

If either of you have any more hints or tips I'll look forward to reading them.

For now 555 is working well for me, I look forward to playing around with other flavors.

Hmm, pipe in mouth makes one ramble..............

Thanks again

I recommend keeping the bowl face up unless you have drained it. I left mine laying on it's side one night and had to clean up my desk, jewel cap, battery and battery compartment the next morning.

I drain my pipe about one each week. Tonight seems like a good night to do so.

I ran the cleaning cycle twice when I got an off flavor.

I've been draining mine every night. It's part of my whole routine. I blow out each atomizer I use every night, which is typically an 801, 901 and a 601. I blow them out and keep them upsidedown every night.

I use a 16oz solo cup to hold the 601 upsidedown. It fits perfectly and the excess liquid drains nicely into the ridge on the bottom of the cup.

Thanks Raul - good tid-bit

I have a question for you fellow pipers - are any of you getting liquid in the battery compartment? Every so often I seem to have liquid on my battery and in the plastic battery holder, all over the jewel cap threads, pretty much everywhere in the bowl. I even noticed that the wood gets wet.

I went thru 5 different DSE601's in the last 6 months (atomizers quit or get tired), and never had liquid anywhere. A very clean device in my experience.

However, when I drilled a small hole in the cartridge (as suggested earlier in this thread, for better flow?), I had e-juice in the battery compartment and everywhere else. I must have been doing smth wrong.. I'm not very good with holes, I guess.

Hey, can anyone here comment on the relative performance (amount of vapor, taste, etc) of vegetable glycerin versus propylene glycol in DSE601?

I've been using PG from Nathan @ truevapor so far -- great vaping! But I might want to switch to VG, due to health concerns I have with PG.

Thanks for any info you can offer!

Finally got my 601 in a few days ago from Liberty. So far I am really liking it. Primer taste has finally fizzled out and I can actually taste the Cappuccino liquid really well. I noticed right off the bat that the cart didn't wick very well. I used the straw mod (same on suggested for 510) and this thing is wicking a lot better now. Great device! Thanks for all the reviews and comments. :)

Hey, chef. Still cannot post URL's but let me try a work around. I just checked today: full DSE601 kits still available at emixt dot com for $52.94 (used to be $52.00). Now they also offer $51.35 for orders of 2+ items.

Don't know anything about their warranty, but I did get 3 kits from them (to minimize on shipping overhead) back in March, and they were all good. 1 atomizer died since, but the 2 others are still kicking.
