Ditto! Except that this will happen even earlier if you vape more.

To be honest, I just started month three with this atomizer so it really started falling off within 6 weeks.

I wonder if the warranty is really worth it? By the time you pay shipping to/from China, you're close to $39. Or do they also cover shipping?

The first atomizer I returned for warranty replacement cost under $3.00 to send and $5.00 for return postage.

I am VERY interested in this, and would greatly appreciate if you keep me posted on any progress with these ideas. Thanks!

I have fiddled with taking draws while firing off the cleaning cycle on the dying atty and it certainly helped. Manual firing would be a preferable modification to give the atomizer a good preheating since the draw on the pipe makes it difficult to take a draw longer than 6 seconds.

Thanks!! :) Just ordered them. And I see that the button itself is flat, so it should cause no problems at all with the 601 sliding contact arm.

I wonder if batteryjunction, or anyone else, carries anything higher than 3.7V in the same (18350) dimensions: 18mm diameter, 34mm height. I think giving them more volts to eat would, perhaps, coax my old and tired attys into gear.

That I couldn't tell you. I don't have it yet. I charged them up in the Ultrafire charger that I use for damn near everything.

Thanks Walrus.

A higher voltage pipe would kick ..., but I don't think you're going to find a single battery option, all of the high volt models and mods that I'm aware of have at least 2 batteries. What we would need is two stubby little 3.0V batteries to fit in the bowl...or a mod.

Hmm... I just searched the web for smth like this. I'm afraid not much is out there. In principle, this is possible. Some coin batteries (e.g. CR1632) pack 3V in 16mm diameter by 3.2mm height. I guess they can be extended to the right height using e.g. conductive magnets. They can also be had for under $1 a piece, if ordered in bulk. Problem is they are not rechargeable, and give only 120mAh.

Great combo; nothing else really needed. I will do similarly very soon. I want a dual voltage device to go with my 601. I have an M401 on order for emergency backup, too.

It's working out pretty well. I sold off all my 901 batts and atts to finance the 801Prod purchase and I definitely think it was the right move. I used to save the 601 for evening's/night time, but now I just use it between Prod uses.

I got my 601 today. Some observances:

The button top batteries will charge in the standard 601 charger. The button top is partially exposed, but it makes enough contact to work.

I will also happily confirm that the button top batteries work fine in the pipe.

I've been sucking on this thing since I got it about 2 hours ago. I love the feel of it in my hand... something I've missed since I stopped smoking a pipe a while back. I'm not terribly happy with performance. I can get a decent hit if I suck for about 6 seconds... but not the occasional light puff that I enjoyed with a real pipe. I imagine that's because it's only 3.7v, and the atomizer is so far from the mouthpiece. I'm also not getting the large volume of vapor. It could be that I got a less than stellar atomizer, or that it needs to be broken in.

I've found what I consider the perfect flavor (for me). I combined Liquid Xpress's Cherry Cordial with a little Lorann's Chocolate. My favorite pipe tobacco was Cherry Cavendish, and this comes close.

I'd also like to pass on a great deal that I've found... Midwest Vapor is going out of business, and they are selling the mouthpieces for $2.50 each. I just bought 4, for a total of $15.50 shipped.

I'm sure I'll add more follow up.

Oh... thought I'd add that I haven't picked up my Prodigy since this got here! (Of course, it's only been 2 hours).

I've found it's a lot easier to screw it off if you don't push down on it. Sometimes getting the thread started when putting it on is a pain in the ....

I wish I'd been able to buy a spare atty when I bought it (Wayne was out) because I'm really not liking the vapor output, and I want to compare it. I feel like I'm taking a lung capacity test every time I try to draw enough vapor to be satisfied... and it's still weak.

Thanks for the update on the button top batteries Walrus.

You're most welcome :)

OH... and I put a little hole in the cart... and it floods consistently.

Walrus: My first atty was an underperformer so I returned it to HG for a warranty replacement. I kept comparing what I was getting from the pipe with what I was seeing on asidrave's videos and realized I got a klunker. Unless I overheated the atty, exhale vapor was almost non-existant.

In the meantime, I had ordered a spare atty from HG and it arrived well before the replacement. Wow, huge difference in vapor production from the first. So consider doing a warranty replacement and pickup a spare atty if you think the pipe is for you.

I just retired my first atty this week for weak vapor production. It acted much like the one I sent back. Good thing HG offers a one year warranty on these things becuase, if you use them fairly heavily, they won't last much more than two months.

And throat hit is minimal. I would agree that a combo of 3.7 volts and the long path the vapor must travel to your mouth are significant factors to reduced TH. A direct lung inhale of 8-12 seconds will 'tickle the tonsils'.

Unfortunately, Wayne is still out of them. I found one at a US vendor, but it only has a 14 day warranty... uh uh.

I guess I'm stuck with this until Wayne gets more in. I really like the feel of the pipe, and want it to work out.

I dont really care about throat hit... I just want vapor. I'm not getting anywhere near what I saw in either video.

OH... and I put a little hole in the cart... and it floods consistently.

I'm finding that too now. When I first did it, I was constantly hitting the pipe so I don't think I ever really gave it a chance to flood. I did have that one atomizer that flooded into the battery holder and everything, but I think that one was faulty. It didn't seem to matter how I orientated the bowl, the batt compartment got flooded. I actually ended up returning it for an exchange. Now that I'm alternating with my Prod, I've noticed it as well. I switched back to a cart without a hole and the flooding seems to have subsided, and with the Prod alternation, the liquid has time to wick on the pipe. I'm only filling the cart twice a day, but I do change the batt about three to four times a day. As BC noted earlier, it hits much better with a freshly charged battery.

As for the jewel caps - I actually do use as little force as possible. It's something with the threads, I'll get two full turns then they lock up and the BS starts. It's both jewel caps on any one of my three atts.

I definitely think the one year warranty on the pipe is essential...six months at least. I used my 14 day warranted atomizer until the warranty ran out, then switched to one with a year. I figure I'll use the 14 day piece as a hold over during the exchange period.
