That video is great and he is obviously one of the masters but keep in mind, you still need a properly oxidized wick to be able to tweak the coils that easily. If yer getting that quick short at the top coil, or popping coils on the test fire then the wick oxidation is not right. For those who are new and possibly getting frustrated that the coil won't dry fire easily like in the video, go back and work on your oxidizing method a lil more. When you get it right you'll be wrapping and adjusting coils as easily and as fast if not faster than Zen himself :)

Thanks guys... Yeah, once a week I break out the DUD but I always get frustrated! I did try the cotton method, but I find the cotton burns when I turn it up on my darwin to where I like it. Im going to go back to square one tonight after watching this video. I have been using 30g but I still have problems getting it tight enough to always be in contact with the mesh. I have some 32 thats so much thinner. I think I will go back to that and start over.

Some day!!! It will all work out.

Also just watched the video on the AC9, looks like a pretty sweet genesis. Im going to hold off on buying any more until I master the one I have.

Has anyone come out with clear tanks yet for the DUD? I hate not knowing how much liquid is inside.

heliguy, keep workin it man, it will get better and better with time and practice. Just remember....oxidize oxidize oxidize.......I firmly believe that 90% of frustrations with genesis style atty's are due to improper oxidation of the wick, too little or uneven.....you can short, too much.....it gets finicky and can short. Get your oxidizing process down and life gets simple. When done right you can pull the coil wire nice and tight to the wick and won't have issues.

Got my clear tanks in from IBTanked. I was able to install 3 out of the 4. The fourth one was a little too loose with the new oring (came with clear tube). Kept pushing the oring out of the groove no matter how much I try. Will attempt it later. I used the factory oring with the top part of the tank. With the factory oring it is easier to screw together.

this is the best walkthrough how to tweak your coil and best thing it is ZEN~ doing it skip to 2:05 to see what i mean. And feel free to watch the whole thing.

How to Wrap a Zen Atty Coil, ft. ~Zen - YouTube

Sent from my NS4G powered by CN JB

Thanks for the video. I've seen a ton of his so far yet never picked up on how he rolled the tank instead of the wire. Great tip.

It will work. Press the new o-rings into the groves using a circular method until it evens out. Rub a drip of liquid around the o-ring.

Did you sand down the sharp edges a bit prior to installing? Not a lot needed, just enough to knock down the sharpness. Both outside edge and inside edge.

I received my tank from IBTanked, pretty easy to change leaving existing coil/wick on plate. I really like it, not only can I see how much juice is in it as well as air hole/wick position and it just looks cool.
3.5mm hollow 400 mesh with skinny mesh wick stuffed into it (pretty solid now)
2.9 ohm, 6 wraps 32 guage K wire
6 volts on YJ 1.5T with 80/20 juice

Gee, I never did anything like this before but here goes, DUD Fogger - YouTube
I maybe should have rehearsed as it really does much better than that.
With a mug like that it will probably be my last video.

It's always good to see videos of people doing fog machine impersonations; it gives me encouragement to continue trying to make this *%*# thing work properly :)

On the last couple of times in the torch flame I do not quench it, I then proceed to burn e liquid on it numerous times using a Bic lighter

And I think that's been my problem; the oxidization of the wick. There are so many different methods out there, and I've tried a number of them but keep getting sneaky shorts popping up somewhat randomly when I: try to dry burn, up the voltage, use a different type of juice, look at the coil in a way that offends it.

So; you roll the wick up to the desired size and then torch and quench, torch, torch, and then do some juice burns? How long do you torch the wick and at what kind of heat intensity? Do you do a small fold at the end that makes the outside seam? How wide is the piece of mesh that you use?

Dude, Lucid, where are you located? Ever make it near Dallas, TX? I swear I could just show you how I make a wick in minutes and you would have nailed!!! I showed a guy at my local vape shop and he was like wow, that was easy.

Maybe Google+ video chat or something and I could show you how to make a wick right....

I actually was in Houston for a couple weeks visiting a friend but am now back in Iowa. Yeah, I don't know what my deal is with this thing, especially since my first wick and coil came together pretty quickly. But that wick was not wicking enough for me since it was the 325 mesh included in the kit so I've been trying to make a 400 mesh wick for the past week and a half and every time I seem to have things working I get mysterious and pervasive shorts and hot spots after no more than a few hours.
