E-cig battery explodes inches from baby's pram

Sensibly and accurately reported.

"West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the explosion occurred when a spare lithium-ion battery in the man's pocket came into contact with another metal item, such as coins or keys."

"We really want the public to understand the risks which can be easily avoided. There does not need to be a fault with the battery, the problem is the incorrect storage of the batteries."

"The use of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries is now commonplace in modern society and that's why we want people to be vigilant because a simple mistake could have a devastating consequence."

Amazing. This is the only report I've seen of a battery incident which provided accurate information about the cause. People reading this could come away knowing more than they did going in. All in a few sentences.

And it came from an alert and responsible Fire Dept rather than a reporter.

Notice in the video the man runs away as soon as it begins to vent.

Also notice when you click the link, the pic shown is a still frame strategically clipped when he passes the baby stroller, so the media can sensationalize the incident to maximum fear effect.

Too much sparks to be no fake. That is not a realistic behaviour of a shorted LiIon at all.

Oh yes.
A lion cell can vent like that.
They can even spew flames.

Wearing those lady jeans two sizes too small not such a bright idea after all, was it?

Nic`d Up in Oklahoma!
I would like to point out that this style battery is not solely proprietary to vaporizers. It`s multiple use`s can be found in power tools, flashlights, power banks and rechargers, computers, electric cars, and I`m sure a few other items I do not know about. To suggest (as written) it is proprietary to vaporizers is a little biased in and of itself. Its a bleeping multi use battery! Rant over, LOL.

We've seen many vids of 18650s going off like a Roman Candle. This is just another one.

Yeah, mere "inches" away!

Umm, yeah... "mere inches".

Watch the vid not just the "poster frame". As the guy turns and runs, the spark shower sprays directly at/into the stroller.
From say two feet or less as he passes by.

Scary eyeball grabbing headline? A tad.
But not egregiously inaccurate.

eta: I see the word "mere" is your addition.
