well im 25 and currently smoke heaters. i want to quit, ive tried patches, gum and cold turkey and have failed many times.

ive been seeing more and more commercials for E-cigs,but,i do not know anything about them. i am very involved in a couple other forums (cars, snowmobiles and 4wheelers) and so i googled a little bit and it brought me here.

me and my girlfriend want to quit smoking heaters (stinky sticks) and so we were talking and came across a couple E-cig commercials and thought, what the hell, lets try those!

i have many questions if anyone would care to answer.

how much do they cost? ive saw a few that go over 100$

how long do they last?

how the hell do they work?? charge them, smoke them???

any help/tips would be great!

Hi!

First I would suggest you take the time to watch this video. Phil Busardo is widely regarded as one of the best reviewers out there.

As for kits, there are literally hundreds of them. Must it look similar to an actual cigarette, or are you comfortable with just about anything? Some are about the size of cigars, others look like flashlights, there's boxes and ones hidden in altoids tins, there's even a zippo.

You charge the battery, fill up the delivery system with nicotine and flavors and puff away.

Good luck!

Welcome ! You have found a place that has tons of info and tons of friendly helpful people.
There is a pretty varied price range on these, it depends on what you are looking for.
How long the batteries etc last? Again that depends on how much you use one. The more you use it the quicker the battery will go down.
Yes, you charge a battery, I know sounds really weird.
While you do "smoke" them, it's not smoke at all, it's a vapor, like a mist.
Good luck to you on your journey!

I purchased my first "really satisfying" kit from vulcanvape.com. It had a couple of ego batteries, some clearomizers and a charger. I also bought some juice from them. Before that, I tried some cigalike kits. The difference is amazing. Do your research first before deciding to buy anything. There are so many quality starter kits out there that will give you a great experience. The better your first impression the more likely you are to stay off the nastys!! Welcome to the Forum and good luck!

I don't know were to start.

I got my Smok Tech 510 Ego-T kit for $40. It's a great kit for it's price. It has 2 atomizers, 2 batteries, and 5 atomizer tips. To charge the battery is has a AC plug and USB plug.

Charging is really easy Screw the battery into the USB plug and plug it into an USB port. Lucky me, my TV, PS3, PS2, desktop and lap top all have USB ports. The AC plug also has a USB plug. So plug your USB plug into you AC plug and plug it into the wall. That's a lotta of plug lol. The USB plug has a light. It's red when charging and turns green when done. The battery tell you when it needs charged. If you take a hit and you get nothing and the light blinks at you for I think 20 time then it needs charged. Easy right.

To work it there is a button on the side of the battery. Hold the button and take a hit. Of course you need a charged battery, with a working atomizer, and a tank of juice. The atomizer heats up and you get the good stuff. Nicotine, flavor, and vapor.

Now a battery last me about 2 days. However the tanks are 1ml. So they get filled often. I recommend to get a syringe with a 16 ga needle to fill you tank. It helps preserve the rubber tank cap on the tank. Now this is if you go with a tank atomizer. I recommend an Atomizer too because the research I did tells me they last longer and the flavor is much better. A carto last a week maybe while an Atomizer will last 2 to 3 months with the right cleaning. You'll need to look up the cleaning process, because I'm still messing with different ways myself.

Now sense your just starting look at getting 5 or 10ml bottles of juice of like 16 or 18mg. Find the flavors you like and by in bigger bottles. Fruity flavors are very good way to start btw. Banana taste like banana, blueberries taste like blueberries, and the snozzberries taste like well snozzberries lol.

Look at reviews before buying too but take it all with a pinch of salt. If you look at 50 reviews and 2 are very negative then don't worry. Sometime people get bad parts. The other 48 was still positive. If you get 20 review and all but 2 are bad then don't buy. Last thing there is a lot of vendors out there. I'll recommend madvapes.com and I'm sure you will see 15 or more other recommended sights too. I had multiple friend recommend madvapes to me and they weren't wrong.

I hope this helps and happy vaping.

i see what you did there. lol great movie!

holy crap. i never knew these things were this complex.

i would like something similar sized to a cigarette. so it could almost imitate the way it feels. i really love the fact that there is a forum for e cigs. it seems like it is going to be a huge help in this process/life change. i love smoking but with how there is such a big push to quit,it really gets to me.

my girlfriend wants to try a e cig too. i was thinking around 100$ for me and her. are there any good "kits" out there for 50$?

i looked at the V2's. they look pretty decent and ive saw other people who have liked them on here. the V2 economy kit,the only thing i dont get is the flavor. i dont know which flavor to get! haha

Here is a website for a kit. Get the standard starter kit for $45.00. Two batterys, One charging while using the other. Everything they sell fits each other. Also I would get a sampler pack to find a flavor you like. Link below:

Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Smokeless Image Electronic Cigarettes - The Future is in your hands

There is other kits, The Ego kit is also a good kit to buy, but there will be other members here to help you out with a good price kit . You will need to shop around for a good price.

Well, Will the best choice to start out with in my opinion would be an ego kit, almost every online vendor sell one, they're cheap and will help you quit i started out with one and ive been cig-free for over 5 months and havnt looked back. the cheapest vendor for an ego would probably be Smoktek.com they're cheap they have really fast S+H. i hope that this helps you in your quest to quit, have a great day.

My $0.02...

Don't let the aesthetics come into play. That is, don't buy one simply because it looks and/or feels like a cigarette. They are almost always inferior to many lower-priced options that don't look like cigarettes. If you're serious about vaping, you'll save some money by skipping those types of systems/batteries.

MikeJA is right. You might want to reconsider. I started out with volts cigalikes and ended up with the x2 and other mods!!

i am looking at some of the volt starter kits. ive looked at the V2 starter kit aswell. both look apealing. i feel i just need to do some research on 1 or the other.

so with an e cig,you need to charge it,whats all the liquid stuff all about? thats one of the things that kinda confuses me.

well i dont know much about e-cigs. actually i dont know nothing about them really. ive looked at the V2's and those seem somewhat appealing.

i tend to smoke alot of cigs during the day,i drive for a living so that plays a big part of it.

id like to find something and order it in the next week or so. ive quit 3 times, all 3 times i made it about 4-6 months without a cig butb then i started smoking again.

EDIT: if i dont want one of the starter kits, what would be a decent one to get and how much would i be looking at spending on one?

Man driving was why it was the hardest to quite for me! Do not go with one that looks like a smoke the battery will die way fast and you'll be pulling over for a pack real quick. Look at an ego kit they tend to last a while. And the juice thing is what this is mostly about it's like the tobacco of our world think of the battery as the tube and filter and the juice as the actual stuff with the nicotine in it. (Please no one slam me for the BAD analogy best I could think of for someone who knows nothing of e-cigs )

If you want to stick to a cig-alike form factor, you could look at either the Sidesho at Modern Vapor or the Colibri Nano/Micro at epuffer. The Sidesho is highly recommended by a long time member of these forums who prefers the cig-alikes. The Micro/Nano has the distinction of being the only e-cigarette to be the same exact size as an actual king-sized cigarette.

Both kits are between $35.00 - $60.00.

While it's true the majority of people eventually tire of the issues of dealing with the smaller batteries, there are also many, many people who prefer the minis for a number of reasons. Just be aware of the issues of minis.

- The battery life is not going to last long. In the case of the Micro/Nano,you'll get maybe 1 hour of usage before the battery needs to be recharged. The kit does come with a PCC however, so you can charge one battery while using the other.

- The delivery system (cart, tank, cartomizer, clearomizer) does not hold much in the way of fluid. This means multiple topping off and exchanging of atomizers throughout the day.

However, these devices are also small, discreet, and kind of sleek and sexy IMO. You just need to be aware of the limitations inherent with them and willing to work within them.

If you decide that you'd rather have longer battery life, you'll definitely want something bigger.

Just do your homework, decide what you'd be comfortable with and ask questions on any device you're interested in.

And remember that at the end of the day all that really matters is you find a PV you're comfortable using that keeps you off the cigarettes.

Good luck!

The liquid is the nicotine and flavor. Buying the liquid and filling your own cartomizers is much, much cheaper than buying them pre-filled. And for clearomizers and larger delivery systems, it's necessary to have.

i tend to smoke alot of cigs during the day,i drive for a living so that plays a big part of it.
I also drive for a day. I tried several things and eventually settled on the Echo. It's an automatic fat battery, so it is larger than a cigarette. It also has a 3 ml cartomizer. The smallest model with a cartomizer is about the size of a stubby cigar. I used to smoke 2 - 3 packs a day. One Echo battery and one cartomizer will last me well until after I get home, and with no button to press it's as easy to use as a cigarette. Easier actually, because I don't have to light a new one at all. A kit is $45.00 from Mountain Vapor, not including liquid.

Good luck!
