Folks,

I'm working on adding some new features to the "I've been vaping since..." banner. One of the things I want to add is the ability for the banner to state what your fav device is. However, even though I'm a supplier, I have no idea what the complete list of 'popular' devices are.

The ones I can list without thinking are:
DSE901/Mini
RN4081/Super
Classic
Titan
Screwdriver
Pilot
801
Janty Kissbox
Janty Dura
Janty Stick

Essentially, these models will appear in a drop down list on the banner creation tool - so if there are other models out there that people want to see in the list, then please let me know which ones I should add!

I'll do my best to keep this list updated as the posts come in.

Apologies if this list already appears somewhere else...

Put devices in a single group and try to incorporate model numbers/names, if possible. Some suppliers make up names and many of us have no clue what model type they are.

Penstyle (BE112, 801, 4072(?))
E-Pipe (Ruyan, DSE601, Lady Pipe)
E-cigar
Custom Device (DIY, GG, Screwdriver, Zi Moshi)

Yeah, I think I'll go with a 2 tier menu. The first tier will just be the 'category' of the devices (Super/Mini/Pen/Cigar/Custom), within each category I'll add as many models as I can and a simple "I don't know or care" option which simply means the banner will just show the device type, without a model number.

Next up, I'll be gathering a list of flavours...that should be fun as well :) With regards to the flavours I'll probably just take the 'standard' cartridge flavours, a list from TW and a list from JC and add a 'custom' options for the hardcore types that mix their own :D

Yeah sure, I'll be happy to put a page together that display the stats. Maybe as an offshoot of the Banner Map tool. In fact, it would be quite cool to be able to filter the map by device type etc :) Man, I've just created a whole bunch of extra work for myself!

First things first though, I want to get the new banners out soon, because I've been talking about doing them for ages - and talk is cheap :D

All the custom devices are manual switched PV's. Since manual switch PV's are really growing, you may want to break it down between auto switch and manual switch.

Hi Pepper!
Oddly enough I was thinking yesterday that it would be great if an enthusiast created an Online Virtual Museum or Chronicle of the E-Cigarette - photo galleries of each model and variations with commentaries - photos and details about obsolete models/brands, history of the invention and the industry, major figures/pioneers, reminiscences, historical source material, testimonials from vapers regarding their experience, videos and standard reference guides. History of e-liquids and creation of branded eliquids and major liquid recipe innovations/innovators. Photos and description of e-liquids in their historical context. Survey and Poll materials. Prohibition recipes and work arounds. Technical maintenance - dissected parts and exploded diagrams, technical advances, the drive to improve equipment, mods and major modders, world wide spread and political reactions, campaigning, important documents, decrees and definitions worldwide.
I am sure that there are already ECF Members who could contribute in a unique way to this project.

I'm no historian - perhaps you are Pepper, or maybe the founding members of the Personal Vaporiser movement have in their midst a person with a long memory, and the flair to build this record of E-cigs.

Best,

C.

@Caesarea - That sounds like great content for the e-cig wiki that I linked to earlier (I have nothing to do with that wiki, by the way). I'm certainly no historian - just a web developer and e-cig peddler!

@wv2win - The trickiest thing is trying to accommodate newbies and experts in the banners without having too many daunting menus etc to jump through. I'll get something up and running and I'll happily take feedback (I think there's already a thread in the Smoke Without Fire forum for banner feedback) on how things can be improved. I'm very much of the mind set of getting stuff out first then reacting to feedback rather than trying to get things perfect up front :)

Thanks, Pepper - when I joined, I read that the wiki was disabled. So now I've been to look. I've never worked on a wiki, and maybe in a few years time when I'm a peaceful pensioner vaping in front of my computer screen in the garden shed (- I had a brief moment of wisdom and foresight when I installed internet in the garden shed in 1994! -) then I may find the time to make pages.

Still don't have the skills to handle the graphics, documents, videos and the technical know how required to collate all the stuff I mentioned just now.
What I'm thinking is not about documenting the passage of a transient phenomenon, but chronicling the birth of a brand new adult pastime.

I was aware that, just for one thing, the Lone E-Ranger who knows nothing of the historical context often arrives very brusquely on the scene without knowing really to whom he/she is posting.

So you guys who have been involved in this since the beginning - don't throw away your significant early models, your first videos or your documented methods or campaigns.

Someone some day may be able to bring all this together in a way that shows a visible and audible chronicle of the people, not just the artefacts....

Best

C.

I think this is a good idea and I am posting here so I can easily find the thread again in the future.

I have been asking the forum itself to implement a feature that would allow users to have their e-cigs displayed on the left with their information and the idea has gotten zero support.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rea/14987-place-add-model-number-profile.html

I got the idea from HowardForums where I discuss cell phones.

this is what it looks like on hofo...
