Okay so I'm really new to the e-cig world and there are SO many options and I'm just not sure what to get exactly.
I know what I do want though...
I want LOTS of vapor. Big clouds, like you would get from hookah. A lot of people say that the EGO cigs would get me those results, but I figured I would ask a bigger crowd.

I really have no idea what's better, atomizers or cartomizers?

First I'd like suggestions on what type of e-cig to get that would give me great flavor and lots of vapor.
Then I'll ask questions.

Thanks!

Hi shellbox. Welcome to ECF.
Lots of vapor comes from high vg juice.
I think a good battery helps too. Get a battery that is at LEAST 3.7 volts.
Others will be along shortly to totally confuse you. Stay tuned. LOL. ;)

Kgo 1100 mah 3.7 volts
Boge LR 2.0 cartomizers
or
Smoke tech 1.7 cartomizers (liking these best now)
+ goooood juice

Hi and welcome to ECF. A's Bullette has said high VG will give plenty of vapor. Also agree get at least a 3.7 volt. Attys vs cartos- for a perfect vape attys win hands down but are a hassle- drip a few drops and vape- repeat. Sounds like a Reo bottom feeder might be what you're looking for or a VTube/ Lavatube variable volt- starter kit starts at $53.00 and has a 30 day money back guarantee and a 1 yr warranty. At Apolloecigs.

( here i come to help confuse, LOL)

I like cartomizers, because they're easy. But you will want at least one atomizer, if you want to try different flavors.
Nothing more depressing than filling a whole cartomizer, and then finding out you can't stand the flavor. With an atty, you can drip it, try it, and then wash it out of the atomizer if you don't like it.

I got several small bottles when I started ( thanks to advice from here!) until I found some I really liked, then got bigger bottles.

A lot of it is going to depend on what you are looking for. Do you want something that looks like a cigarette or can you handle something larger, like the size of a sharpie. If you want something larger, a good place to start is with the kgo, a pack of bottom coil ce3 and a vivi nova.

If you want something that looks like a cigarette, get a smokeless image volt. They have the best customer service in the business, and are quick shippers. The battery lasts 2-4 hours, the cartos last a long time, can be refilled several times and don't burn easily. They are also reasonably priced. In Addison, there is a 15% off coupon available, Here is a video that help you decide what you need to be successful, regardless of what company you use. It demonstrates the volt and also shows the x2 which is the same as the kgo. This was you can get an idea of the size difference to help make a good decision.

You should just do what I'm doing. Max out all of your credit cards and buy as much stuff as you can from as many different places as possible. Every (1 out of 10) purchases will work out just fine. I've somehow become addicted to buying vaping crap. I've tried everything from cartos, cartomized tanks, standard attys, clearomizers, etc. and all I can say is that most people will have different opinions on all of them. Youll have the same problem with liquids as well, a lot of different opinions. The only thing I could tell you about the juice is not to not get too carried away with some of the vendors juice descriptions. They have a way of making it sound a whole lot better than what it is. Fortunately for me a few different posts by some vets on here caught my eye si I started searching a lot of their losers reviews, recommendations etc and I puts on the right track. Now of I could just stop buying so much crap I'll be in good shape. I just recently ordered the Hj 357 attizer and the short "did" rebuild able attomizer. I don't even know what "did" stands for. Neither item has shipped yet and because I'm so impulsive/impatient I started googling ..... again and next thing I know I'm paying a bunch of money for something called the "mark t" attomizer which I had previously never heard of. I certainly don't need it but I just couldn't help it. Btw, I also have about 46 or so more DIY flavor concentrates heading my way as well as some nichrome wire and as mesh. I have got to stop you tubing all of these things or I'm going to put myself in the poor house. Good luck with that. HA!

Well thanks for all the replies.
Although I'm not going to max out my credit cards to find a good one lol.

Basically all I want is a long lasting e-cig that gives big plumes of smoke similar to a hookah. Because I'm a hookah smoker, not a cigarette smoker. I know, probably doesn't make sense. But I want a hookah in my pocket ;)

As far as cartomizers and all that goes, I'm completely clueless. So when I find a good e-cig that fits my wants, then I'll start asking how to even use them.

Most move to cartomizers after buying a kit with atomizers. You can buy a kit with cartomizers, but as was said by Saphirsis, you will want an atomizer to "drip" with and try juices before dedicating a carto to them. I prefer Cisco or other 306 type drip atomizers because they are short, have an exposed bridge, and clean easily when trying multiple juices.

Boge and Smoktech are tried and true carto brands. 2 ohm cartos are good with 3.7v and 3 ohm cartos are good with higher voltages. Battery life between charges is dependent upon MAH ratings. The higher the MAH rating, the more vaping you get between charges. The rule of thumb is 100mah per hour of vaping if you stick to mid range resistance coils in your atomizer/cartomizer.

Ecigs come in fixed voltage and variable voltage configurations. A variable voltage ecig allows you to turn the voltage up and down to suit the juice and coil resistance of your carto/atty. If you want to try variable voltage cheap, try the eGo Twist or for a little more money, try the Lavatube or its generic equivalents.

Huge clouds of juice are associated with VG juices. A mix at 50/50 PG/VG will usually do the job without losing flavor. 100% VG will produce voluminous vaper but will be less tasty then 100% PG. 100% PG will reveal the good taste, but lacking some of the vapor you get from pure VG unless you have a variable voltage device to crank up the voltage. Somewhere in between is where you will find satisfaction.

Lots of info there, but some things to think about in your search for the ultimate vape.

Here's a good place to do some reading for background info.

Well see I don't know any of the lingo you guys have been using lol...
No offense.
Like "bottom coil cartomizers." I have NO clue what that even means.

Can I get some brand suggestions? A site to go to? The type of e-cig I need?

Thanks again

IMHO I think you should figure out a few things.
Do you want an e-cig that looks like an analog or don't care? Do you want to have to push the button on a battery to control the heat/vapor (manual battery) or do you want a battery that just works when you inhale (automatic battery)? What kind of flavors do you like now? Do you want sweet, tart, fruit, tobacco or some food or drink flavor? What strength nicotine do you want in your e-liquid. Most posters say a 2 pad (pack-a-day) smoker should start with at least 24mg nic strength. Others have put you on the right track re: Pg/VG ratios.

My first PV was a Riva 510 SE. It came with 2 attys, 2 batteries, two cones and a charger. I ordered two 5 ml bottles of e-liquid from two different vendors and ended up spending around $50.

One of the things I like best about vaping is how easy it can be to mod whatever setup you have.

There are no hard specific answers for some questions because the answer is based on individual tastes. I find the subjective views expressed on this forum are what keep me coming back. By the way I prefer tobacco flavors.

Welcome and good luck.

Well most folks here in this forum started using PV's as a tool to try to quit or cut way down on their smoking habit. It is fairly easy for us to give advice to long term smokers.

You sound like you are not actually attempting to quit smoking. You sound more like you want to become addicted to vaping and nicotine cuz it sounds like fun.

My best advice would be to find a different hobby unless you are actually taking up vaping as a way to leave cigarettes behind.

Well I've already answered some of those questions.
I'm a hookah smoker, not a cigarette smoker. So I definitely do not need an e-cig that looks or feels like a cigarette what so ever.

I'm basically looking for a "portable hookah" if that makes sense.

I want a good flavor variety, since that's the main focus of hookah. I don't need a strong nicotine level at all.

And most of all, I want good clouds of vapor. I love the feeling of exhaling a huge cloud of vapor.
I've been looking at Provaris, and the lavatube. But I'm just not experienced enough in this field to make a decision. I don't want to waste my money.

So like I said...
If you experienced people could possibly steer me towards a specific kind of e-cig for the things I'm looking for, I can try to do my own research on it.
I just need help narrowing down all the possibilities! lol

Thanks again for all the replies. Seems like a great community!

I understand completely. I'm not a smoker and never have been and I know it seems silly to start vaping just for fun.
But as I've mentioned a couple times already, I'm a pretty big hookah smoker with my friends. It's an awesome social thing, and is just fun for various reasons.

Although it's a hassle, and expensive. Shisha goes fast and is not cheap.

I saw a guy at work with an e-cig and he says he gets the 0 nicotine level and just smokes for flavor. (He's also a hookah smoker) So it intrigued me.
That's really it...I'm looking at vaping as a quick way of hookah smoking :) Also a bit "healthier".

Okay so..I believe I've done enough research to kind of figure out what I want..but experts, please correct me if I'm wrong!

So I think I want an atomizer/tank system. Cartomizers are convenient, but from what I've been reading they don't last as long, and don't produce as much vapor/flavor as an atomizer combined with e-liquid. Is this true?

Also, do more volts in a battery equal better vapor production? I was watching a review on the Provari, and the guy said that the best voltage he likes to set it on is 4.4.
Therefore, if I find an Ego battery that has a 4.2 voltage, would that produce the same amount of vapor? I'm just making sure that's how it works.

Sorry for so many questions, just trying to figure everything out. Thanks again!
