Queensland University are starting some e-cig trials this year. It's possible they may want to talk to vapers and get them to fill out some surveys and stuff as well. If you are interested you can register your name and contact details here:

Novel Nicotine Products - Volunteer Database

Note this isn't the actual survey or anything, they are just using this form to register people's contact details.

Can this be stickied somewhere for a few weeks?

Interesting how these have been out for a few years but people are still doing surveys. I wonder what the survey to medical case study ratio is.

This is actually a very important one for us in Australia. As far as I'm aware it's the first study to be done here. Eventually it may move into a field trial phase, but it looks like they are doing some data gathering first. Not such a silly idea really.

Also, we keep hearing about how there's "not enough research" to be able to declare vaping safe. That research will have to rely on statistical data gathered by studies like this. We NEED this hard data, compiled by qualified researchers to lend weight to what we've been saying, but which gets shrugged off as merely "anecdotal evidence at best".

I suspect that the data gathered from this exercise is crucial to whether further clinical tests go ahead or not. They're still at the "proof of concept" stage.

I can't stress how important this is also not just to Australian vapers, but to the wider global vaping community as well. I really hope that people haven't become so jaded of surveys that they won't bother to stand up and be counted when real research is being done.

I signed up earlier this morning and had no trouble with the link, but yes, tried it just now and got the error page. ???

It seems the university Microsoft computer was not configured very well, or has run into some other problems.

Maybe they underestimated the response they were likely to get.

Just to clarify a bit further:

The purpose of the survey will be to gather experience of the existing vaping community and find out which devices might work best in upcoming trials on e-cigs. In other words, this is the approach to testing E-cig efficacy and safety that we've been screaming for. Instead of just some trial of an inadequate cigalike, maybe they'll do the trial with a half decent starter kit.

I have a feeling there's some emails on their way to the people responsible and hopefully we can get the server back on line quickly. I'll post again as soon as I know some more.

The website is back up now. Seems it was only a temporary glitch and a quick fix.
