I'm finding more and more that the users here are more intelligent than on other forums. The people here come from a wide demographic and honestly the large presence of atheists does indicate a more critical group of forum users. Just browsing the mods forum shows how creative this community is. Is it the nicotine? Or is it just because the people who use ecigs are more open to new ideas? Or is it just that the people here are mostly older?

Actually you're right - all the forums I was part of before were car forums where it was mostly kids or racers. These guys were just focused on cars and if you mentioned anything else they'd just call you a dumbass and say wtf that's too smart, you some kinda nerd? Most of the posts were people talking crap to each other or just BSing around - my friend had one and he had one topic that went to 700 of people just posting random pics or rofl, lol, etc.

And every thread ends off topic within the third post? I've been there. It could be because this community is not very well known as it's a fairly new concept, and to accept it you have to be fairly open minded. And the open minded are the people I enjoy conversations with the best. I've actually been in a group of people who share cars as an interest and talking crap or just BSing is what most of what they spoke of. Anyway, both reason probably play a good part in it. E-cigarettes are getting more attention(FDA, government, the curious smoker, etc) than cars(car enthusiasts). :p

I don't know about that, but a local working men's club that I go to had to ban smoking inside and the smokers now all tend to go outside to have a smoke together and whenever they are all out having their smoke the club tends to go very quiet. It's as if nearly all the 'characters' that make the club lively and fun are the smokers. Pubs also seem to be very much quieter and have very much less of a lively 'atmosphere' since smoking was banned

Honestly, I am sucking up but because the other forums I was on were pissing me off. I just stopped visiting other forums a couple of days ago - I was tired of all the close-mindedness on them (well yeah they were car forums) and the people actually act like that in real life! I'd go to these car meets and it'd just be people talking trash about each other behind their backs or about peoples' cars or even about people who got into car accidents. In contrast, I can actually have an intelligent conversation here and there's a wide spectrum of views and people who are actually educated (the only car people who were educated just came to the meets to show off their cars and act superior).
gashin, are you sucking up?

;)

mostly true, with the exception of some very unstable and uneducated folks that happen to pass through on occasion.

That's true - we are getting more attention so I guess it draws a lot of different people.

lol that's what I'm noticing too - when I used to drink a lot the people I enjoyed being with were all exciting smokers - when I went with just drinkers it ended up being a very boring night. Im thinking it could possibly also be be because smokers have more on their minds and have a chance to think about it with all their breaks from the world :) and vapers are just the more enlightened of this group.

Yeah I noticed that there are more older people here - but then again the older people who actually do use the internet (which is getting to be a greater and greater proportion of web users) are probably more open-minded and intelligent than other older people. But then again, I'm finding more and more that older people in general are more fun to converse with since most young people aren't really focused on anything beyond hobbies, partying, and games.... maybe I'm too old for my age :).
Age Age Age
18 years of age to get addicted to nicotine + average of 10-30 years to get tired of it enough to start trying random crazy stuff to quit like a e-cig. You got your self one of the oldest average user forums besides Bingo.com/forums

It's funny that you bring this up. My two best friends and I were talking yesterday about the last time I 'quit' smoking....I'm far more patient, far more understanding as a smoker. Even after I get past the withdrawal symptoms, we all agreed that the difference was noticeable. I was always busy and wouldn't have patience for the things that I normally just let roll off my back. Very rarely would I just kick back on the porch and watch the sunset like I used to do when I smoked.

It's like that 15 minutes just makes you a better person. :)

More intelligent? Probably not. But definitely more open to new ideas and others' thoughts.

Yeah I do think those smoker breaks are forms of meditation haha that's why smokers are so chill compared with everyone else - but I still think the people here ARE smarter even if it is just because they're older and more open-minded.

Oh, boy, don't know if I should go here or not..... but, something like 80% of people who are bi polar or schizophrenic smoke, they also tend to be more intelligent in a least one area because of the way their minds work and race, they can take in more information and think much more than the average person. More thought processes= more intelligence, more ideas, more open mindedness. They are also working on using nicotine to help treat ADHD. For that fact, I will never go off nicotine. No I'm not saying we're (or even me, no matter what my husband says!) all crazy, just adding a thought.
