Or they could be one and the same.

I have certainly wondered that myself. He may play ALL the parts. Wouldn't that be a hoot? Only members are us and Fred.

:)

Edit ... perhaps you meant Bunny and eraser ... I still like my scenario. LOL

Behind you
I spend most of time on ECF in this thread and have come to appreciate and like a lot of people here, but I think it's time for me to take a break. Both from this thread and this forum.

I wish the best to those who choose to persevere in this cause. I think it's great that so many want to help others with a "new" method to quit. It certainly has helped me.

Nate, I hope to always see you again soon. But no sooner than you think is healthy. ;-)

And most of all I hope you find solutions to all of your life's problems, continued happiness, and pickles in the fridge whenever you want them. Cheers, -Magnus

I am on Indian land
You're thinking we got hit with a ringer...It makes you stop and think doesn't it?

I understand you and the cuddly and squeezable Most Terrifying and Ferocious Chief are talking about a persona over there, and I may be subconsciously driven by inauspicious emotions, but I have been wondering some things like that about a different person there, as well as a person here.

If I am wrong about that, I will apologize in advance and again early and often, but yes, I have been stopping and thinking, and making it all about me by excusing that my radar for that kind of thing was not only off but stuffed in the closet under a box of old evening bags.

I have been watching Soprano DVDs...The cigar...

Mr lolady and I have been watching that, too, and just as I realize I've been subconsciously not inhaling my electric hookah-doodle cloud and chuckling to myself at how good I'm getting at doing it just like Tony instead of Greta Garbo, I'm obliged to wonder if I'm also getting too imaginative about ringers and things...

...I just don't care for how things have, in my opinion, taken a turn for the worse. I've done my fair share and I apologize....We are better than the name calling and snide remarks. We've just forgotten that.

...I agree with Nate, it's gotten out of hand.

I am sorry. It was I who asked for the link to the other one, and knee-jerk reacted here to the remark about the auntie.

This took place on the evening of the very day when I and at least a couple of other people had posted some very personal and sensitive things about ourselves driven by the sincere desire to reach out and offer support and help what appeared to be a very troubled individual.

That's not an excuse, nor is the "trigger" potency of the whole auntie incident, or the "TDL web" comment about the auntie, but it is an object lesson in the power of words, and the effect the feelings they evoke, can have on us.

I can't speak for anybody else, but the idea that I might have taken so much time and effort to help somebody who didn't really need help, who was, in reality a simple bottom-rung operative, - well, let's just say that my response to that should have been "oh well, maybe what I typed will help some lurker who does need help," but I'm embarrassed to say that was not my initial reaction.

It's also worth pointing out that many of the Good Deed Posse have been quietly and stoicly enduring playground-grade behavior on the part of the Quitistas for some time, and even the noblest doer of Good Deeds among us is human. Even a worm, the old saying goes, will turn.

(For those unfamiliar with the saying, it is NOT intended to compare the eventual turner to a worm in the sense of denigration, rather in the sense of a being that is by nature, very non-aggressive and extremely slow to react to aggression, but eventually, if poked enough, even the placid worm will turn around and go the other way).

Edit one more time to note that most of them "over there" are also better than that, and all of them have the potential to be better than that, and please excuse the even greater than usual incoherence, normally I would wait a few hours for a better window and hose this off, but the situation is unusual, so you will just have to slog through it as best you can.

Good job Kristin. (she was right there to counter immediately after more trash was posted)

Thanks. I'm trying to remain true to my word and not stoop to their level. I joined there to help bring smokers the truth about e-cigarettes and I'm going to continue to ignore the naysayers. If they keep attacking me and my posts, they are only going to make themselves look like the jerks. If I look to be the calm, rational one, I will be viewed as being trustworthy and believable.

The whole point in being there is to help people quit smoking and I refuse to let them get me sidetracked in trying to change their minds. So, I will speak directly to the new members - or any members interested in e-cigarettes - who are the whole reason for being there and continue to counter the lies and petty distractions as best I can.

Now THATS just stereotyping......I was thinking irish...ok, ok, j/k

Actually I am neither of those but I do have a big mouth!
I would post the inappropriate emoticon for it's use but I'd be banned right "Old Soldier"?
My mother is French and Canadian and my daddy is Black & Pamunkey from Virginia
I have never considered myself to be white although I do indeed resemble you people. {no offense intended}
I am a Franco Black Native American or "other" on forms, albeit one with a huge mouth and occasional ill temper.
Next question? :)

Absolutely. I think that is a great plan. I guess they just don't realize that any member, new or old, can see what they're doing. Acting all innocent just looks stupid on their part. But its too late for them to worry about that now.

We HAVE helped a number of people...and that is the reason I am there, and will be staying there.
Your parents made a sound reproductive choice.

I've also been naive before...

In my opinion, a naive person who saves a life, or even improves the quality of one, is a much better thing to be than a shrewd and wily one who forfeits such a privilege.

Thank you for reminding me of that.

Those of you who are able, even some of the time :) to do the work of the angels and keep on draining that swamp even when waist-deep in alligators are very blessed.

I admire you, and I'm envious, because the reason I am not there is because I am simply not noble enough, or good enough.

It shames me to confess that if I went over there, my fingers would type, unbidden and before I could physically call them back, words so unseemly that they should not be seen on the monitors of any human being anywhere, ever.

Can you tell some simple facts about it, and things we can do to cause its spirits to smile upon us?

At the most basic level it simply means talking about ECF as a "quit smoking" alternative on as many other forums as feasible. Including high-level "information hubs" like About.com and Yahoo Answers. Twitter is also an excellent choice. Tag pages and posts w/ quit smoking. And link back to a ~specific~ area in ECF. Always.

That's the extremely abridged version. If we had such a consolidated area or just a few areas, I'd be more than glad to again offer some footwork in that area. -Magnus

... think it's time for me to take a break. Both from this thread and this forum. ....

I hope you will re-consider that Nate. You are such a help to me and so many people here.

The weight of a globule of untoward behavior and incidents of high dudgeon, when placed against the good your presence, your wisdom, and your spirit do so many people, ones who don't even know about this thread, or the Quitistas, is something I hope you will contemplate.

Removing yourself as a resource from those who have no part in the things that have saddened you will not alleviate that sadness, in fact, I am almost certain it will increase it.
