I started smoking when I was 14 or 15. Now that I look back on it, though, I would hardly call myself a smoker at that age. I would probably smoke 2 cigs max after school and 5-10 on weekends. It wasn't until I was 18 and went to VA Tech that I started smoking a pack a day. My roommate would smoke-out the entire dorm floor, so I figured, WTH, I may as well smoke as much as I want to now. Ever since, I haven't been able to quit for more than two weeks. I'm almost 30 yrs old now.

I can't wait until e-cigs move out of this infant industry stage and mature a little more. I think in the coming year, we will see major advancements in atomizer and cartridge technologies. If produced in a high enough quantity, I'm sure that disposable atomizers will go down from today's 1.80USD per day to .60-.70 cents, making them ready for mass consumption. Okay, I just went off-topic...

I'm 50. First one smoked at 6, on the farm in WV out of boredom. Was smoking steady by 12. I lost my Aunt Betty (my 2nd Mom) in Feb of 08. She smoked as long as I can remember. I watched her suffer through lung cancer, and have half of one lung removed, and kept smoking. She survived 5 yrs after that only to get COPD and had to be intebated twice and not surviving the 2nd time. (I miss her greatly!) I was with her when she died and swore I wouldn't die the same way. Thanks to vaping, I stand a chance not to.

I've been on e-cigs for almost 2 weeks, and with every puff, I wish they had been around for Aunt Betty, but I'm thankful they are here for me.

I am 36 and started smoking at 15. During Jr high i would smoke 5 or 6 on the weekends and when i got my car in high school I would smoke 4 or 5 a day. Starting my Sr year i started a pack a day and increased to 2 packs a day in my mid 20s and have been there ever since. I was doing ok on the e-cigs until Hurricane Ike hit Houston and then I lost some of my batteries and my chargersand just never could get things going again, until I got the usb passthrough battery and the battery pack. In the last week I have had 2 or 3 real cigs a day and they are nasty. I only have 2 left in this last pack (my husband bought me 2 packs almost 2 weeks ago) and after this I am not going to buy anymore.

I started smoking @ 17 and will be 34 on Saturday......have given up a few times over the years (tried everything, even champix) but hopefully will be able to kick the habit completely now!

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this site....only had my e cig for a couple of days but most people think I'm crazy, so It's nice to know that there are so many other people 'vaping' !

Started at 15 on marlboro reds, thought it would make me a man.......just made me sick. But like a t*t I persevered with it  Never forget the first time I sparked up in front of the parents, nothing was said but dad just started to hide his fags and lighters :D
Now I`m vaping Mum and Dad are always keen to try new flavours it just makes the `ol man cough up a lung!!!! (the PG don`t agree with him) Mum`s pestering me for a Ruyan throwaway though after we went out for a drink over christmas and I was smoking at the bar whilst they were staring though the window from the outside smoking area

I'm 66!! Been smoking since I was 16. 50 years!!! - How come I'm still alive?

Good genes, maybe? Or are you one of those 'mouth smokers'?

:p

I started at the age of seventeen, right after finding out my father had died. I'm 37 now, and have been telling myself for at least 15 of those smoking years that I need to quit.

It's a daily battle, I have no spine, nicotine is evil. People who quit cold turkey are like deities to me.
