well a main reason they need nicotine is that 50% of them go in with a nicotine addiction.
how would you like it if I locked you in your room for a week with no nicotine for crossing the road on stop?
youd go crazy in 8-12 hours and your sleep would suck for a week and you'd get pretty irritable.
Now add those symptoms to your anger issues and your mental illnesses. Nicotine is a physically addictive thing.

I cant and wont get into your capitol punishment beliefs. wrong forum. I'll X: before I go too far.
Done with this thread moving on.

I DO NOT think Jails and or Prisons should allow E-Cigs or any accessories for them. Let me put it this way... Say some new product comes out and you or I want it bad... but it is on back order for those in the prison system... ya follow? Why should they get first dibs? Aren't they being PUNISHED FOR CRIMES??

I have been to County a few times in my younger days... a 9v battery and a single blade from a shaving razor that THEY issue you makes a burner and yes there was tobacco snuck in, sold and smoked. The tobacco was rolled in the paper that the toilet paper rolls came in.

We have several states here in the USA... lots of empty land... pick one... build many central prisons and banish those who cannot be rehabilitated.

Hell no, prisoners have to many amenities as it is. If you don't want the prison lifestyle don't do stupid s*** to put yourself there. As far as im concerned they should get a room with a bed and a toilet, books, food and minimum medical care ( ie were not paying for your sex change operation, BTW yea we are if you didn't know, thanks liberal jackass judges) I say we need to make the prisons more self sufficient too, grow their own food ect..

Of course I would be miserable without nicotine. But I'm not going to go rob 7/11 or shoot someone or commit check fraud. You don't go to jail for running a red light unless you're drunk or habitually driving without a license or you kill someone. I'm familiar with mental illness in my own life and in my family. It gives someone a greater likelihood of getting into a criminal lifestyle, but it's not an excuse.

One more thought : I'm not fond of jailing addicts for possession, but the prisons don't hand out substances to keep them from going off the walls unless they are in some sort of medical detox. They're far more likely to lose it while withdrawing from those types of substances than from withdrawing from nicotine.

I personally don't care if smoking is allowed in prisons. I know it used to be. If they want to allow it, fine. But e-cigs for prisons with bans in place? Not interested in lobbying for that.
