I still can't work out what's changed. What ss cover? do you mean the vent?:confused:
It's basically the old part without the o-ring, plastic washer, and stainless steel cover. Just went on ESG, and they have the new version "(Without SS Cover And Plastic)". Of course, the new item is €26.26, but I paid the price of the old version at €28.84. :(

What was the purpose of the stainless steel cover? More support for the battery in telescopic mode? To prevent the axis pin from getting stuck down in the axis?

Better conductivity without these three items ;)

Just gg Axel conductivity With SS cover removed from axle will be better only in telescopic GGTS mode, when you tighten the telescopic tube the battery is forced down onto the axle face and with the SS cover removed you have more area for conductivity.

Just GG regular mode there is no difference, The axle center contact along with spring pressure pushes the battery up away from the axle face and SS cover, you can observe this by holding just GG in your hand and violently shaking it, you'll hear the base of the battery bounce off the top of the axle and SS cover,
The SS cover was meant to be a safety feature, This is one of imeo's brilliant designs, in the event of a battery failure the heat would collapse the spring The base of the battery would drop onto the SS cover and continuity would be removed and prevent further meltdown.

Conclusion with SS cover removed conductivity is only better in GGTS telescopic mode.
I run my just Gg in regular mode and prefer to keep the SS cover in stalled for safety, The quality of batteries these days has been good but with all the highbred batteries recently you never know.

Aal with the SS cover removed from the axle the exposed surface area on the top of the axle is now larger this gives you better conductivity in GGTS telescopic mode. when when you tighten the telescopic tube the bottom of the battery is forced down on the top of the axle and with more contact surface area the conductivity is better.

In regular mode with out the telescopic tube showing, The base of the battery only touches the center contact in the axle not the entire face of the axle. This is because the spring pushes the contact up through the center of the axle forcing the battery up. So in regular mode with the axle cover installed or removed the contact
conductivity is not going change,

EXCELLENT explanation!!!!! :toast:
Eventually I'm too lazy

Aal sorry I thought you didn't understand.
Imeo has decided not to make this part anymore and with safety in mind I really wish he would.
Maybe sometime in the future he can. But he's very busy with other new devices.
You know actually it is smarter if he hadn't made it at all. from your explanation if you want safety you unscrew telescope half a mm and it's enough to disconnect the battery from the axis and the current goes through spring. It becomes more of an option rather than a must :)

Md, you still have the safety option when you use justGG in solid mode or with the solid 18650 tube
