Hi Friends,
because many people ask me about the preorders i want to explain you my opinion about preorders.
Preorders are in general a good idea but i have some objections if i think like a customer and i try always to do this.

1. My opinion is that it is not good to pay for something 100 % of the price and get it after 2-3 months.

2, If something goes wrong and the business have to close, what happens with the order and what happens with the money?

3. What happens if the partnership with the manufactor stops? We had this in the past with UK seller if you remember and it was not funny at all!

3. if something goes wrong with the health of the business man or with the health of the manufactor what happens with the order and what happens with the money ?

4. What happens if you don’t want or don’t need any more after 2-3 months the parts of your order ?

What happens now if Imeo didn't made the list for Proteus for preorders and he made a normal preorder and you had paid 2 years before???
I think if this happened now we will had worldwar 3 :)

Generally all of this not happens often but what if it happens ?

Of course now you can answer, make preorders without take the money or only a part of this.
this is the best option but it is very very difficult to make it happen because if you will make an order on the system and don’t pay the full price the order will be stay on status not paid.

And when the order is ready after 2-3 months I have to e-mail every single customer to pay for the order and there is the point that huge problems begins,
First of all you will not be able to pay ASAP with PayPal check out.

2. You have to pay with PayPal over e-mail.

3. I have to check every single payment from PayPal and from you.
4. I have to manually change the status of every single order.
5. I have to inform the customer.

If a customer goes inside his order and try to check out with PayPal the stock will get crazy :( we have test this option already.
It is very very stupid to do something like that and of course we have to spend a lot of working time.

I have made a preorder to Imeo already for almost all items I need to have in stock in my shop and Imeo has made the most of them so you are able to get all this immediately without waiting or make any preorder.
My opinion is that is the best way to handle it.

I have talk a lot about this with Imeo and in my eyes he likes to play the daddy for his distributors and try to protect them from order too much or too less Products but in my opinion this is Absolut wrong !!! And I will explain you the reasons.
We are business mans and not little children, business means risk!!! Other times you win other times you loose, but this is it.

If for example I order Imeo 10 pieces of penelope V4 and the Italian seller order 300 penelope V4 and Imeo don’t have any more Penelope V4 to sell me, it is not Imeos fault , it is my fault.
I will sell 10 pieces and the other seller 300.
If this happens it is not Imeos work to try to protect me and hold pieces back with his own risk only to be able to send me some more because I didn’t order in the first place.

I tell you this because in the past there were many times where I believe in a project and wanted to buy many items of this product and Imeo didn’t let me only to protect the other seller for example because he order 50 or 100 pieces and Imeo knew that after some days he needs more.
No my friend if he want to sell more then he had to has the balls to order more or he loose customers and sells, because it is a risk and this risk shows the character of a business man, he has to learn what he has to do.

This shows in my eyes the difference of business mans.

Thank you
Vassilis

Dear Vassilis,

I agree with your comment almost completely, but I think this preorder is a little different from usual.

Let's start saying I have only 1 experience with preorder, it was for Penelope 2 and it was a very positive experience: I placed my order with placidity, I mean without the usual hurry of the F5 battles ;) and I got my stuff in few days; great service! But I know many american fellows had a very different experience... so to repeat I understand very well your concerns.

I said this time is a little different:
first of all, this is a huge preorder, not just Penelope 2 or Proteus, but dozens of parts.
More important, this time we have the opportunity to order also not existing or "out of catalogue" parts.
I mean: I imagine in few days I can get almost all existing parts from your shop; but what about special parts I/we asked for, like the brass knurled Connector and Collectorm Tank for GGTS? I imagine these parts will not be part of your re-stock...
Also, speaking about new or out of catalogue parts, it is very difficoult for Imeo to know in advance how many pieces to produce; there are good chances that he'd make too many, or more likeky not enough for everybody.
OK; Imeo, too, is a business man and this kind of decisions are part of his business, but, frankly speaking, once finally we have the chance to order everything we need from GG, it'd be a real pity to leave even just 1 customer unsatisfied because, maybe, at the opening of sale he/she was at work and couldn't fight in the F5 battle.

Of course: I'm not happy to pay the 1st of March and get my stuff at the end of April, so I'll try to get as much part as possible at your regular sale; then I'll use the preorder for the missing parts.

Ciao
Marco

Well I agree with the seller and the manufacturer because they have to communicate as good as possible to successfully provide to a market. So if a customer wanted to buy from your shop a part that you didn't order on this round, you will take it in consideration and stock it the next round? For me this is what I understand that would work better for Vassilis

Vassilis i agree with what you say about pre-orders. However i have a suggestion for you, why dont you put the items like tilemahos V2 22mm, 23mm and all the parts you have ordered from Imeo up on your website marked as "out of stock" with the normal option of "notify me when in stock" that way as soon as the parts are through the process of going into your stock system the "automated" email would be sent to customers who are waiting therefore any customer where ever they are ie at work, travelling can jump onto the website and secure the parts the want This would give all customers a fair chance to join the F5 battle.
Regards Alan

i think is great to have both options, if you don´t want to pay in advance and wait till release day, you have that option and if you don´t mind to pay in advance and wait till the stuff come to your door, because maybe you can´t do the f5 battle for any reason, is a great option, today everybody knows what a preorder is, if there´s a problem, you get your money back, and you know that delays are pretty normal, in my opinion as more options we have the better, that makes everybody get all the gg stuff they want the way they want, i don´t see any problem at all.

thats exactly the point Tele. You hit the nail. "Options".

I think GG has options that no one else can offer
