It's a chinese conspiracy... really? Is that what I just read? It's a conspiracy to not put lipton tea bags in cartos? Really? I'm not a fan of "that vendor" but seriously. That a bit far fetched... no?

Conspiracy is a little strong. Planned obsolescence or a business model that depends on non-durable parts is probably better. Like a $29 HP printer you can buy but need to keep buying $40 inkjet carts for. Or the model for printers: the $5 razor that uses refills that are $20 a box.

While I totaly agree, imagine if they came PTB'd already and working the way they are suppose too, id pay more and id buy more.

they dont leak, the ohms are at all ranges(2.4 to 3.2, so thats handled), primer is gone, connectors arent dented and they fire on all devices. So lets be honest, whats the only complaint left then.

The wicking, the dry taste or bad taste people are experiencing, which is partially a ohm issue coupled with the wick, now we know when we cut the wick and add ptb with tails those issues go away also the higher ohms helps with the wicking as well... Thats the consensus that im reading.
the filler plug needs a bigger fill hole but that doesnt need some approval by the fda, all that needs is a bigger hole.

SO if they where to add the ptb and the e2 wicks incredibly then everyone would know these are the best things going, the wick is kind of holding it back from being incredible but its usable nonetheless.

Agreed 100% I would pay more for a product that was up to standards And didn't have to be modified( although that DOES add to the hobby)But untill then PTB it is

I just recieved new carto's,
they all were in the Royalsmokers packaging.
I had to open the packs and look at the threads to see which were which. i have several diff. models i purchased for.
So, I agree the boxes need to be marked.
I'm sure I saw a picture floating round somewhere of a Royalsmokers box with the ohm rating marked on the side.

Maybe it's the revision n9 box or something.

OK, so I just got my saber touch and I have no idea what ohm rating the e2 v3 I have are but... An 18650 battery fully charged is running to hot for them. I went ahead and took the plunge, ordered 100 3.0-3.2 ohm e2 r4's. This thing is awesome by the way. Anyone looking for a big battery mod, get one. I have 3000mah 18650 batts for it, should last a few days. I'm going to ptb some of these then try them. Off to the store for some teabags.

As for primer/bad taste; I haven't run across that yet in r4 although some have. Cleaning/dry burn should help. Many people are finding distilled white vinegar to be a good cleaning agent. I'm going to try that but use Vodka now. It works well and evaporates quickly.

Boy, I did! The regular R4's (not XL's) that I got from COV tasted terrible on startup. At first I thought it was primer. BUt the smell was actually like someone had just spray painted (like in those big industrial spray paint boxes at plants). Really strange. Then, thinking maybe it was just that pack, I cracked another and had the same results. Mystifying to say the least.

Again, these were NOT the XL's. The XLs had wicking issues, but not the startup taste. Just the regular ones. Weird.

Were the regulars in blister packs? If so, much like regular cartos, they can get a nail polish smell to them in blister packs. I'm guessing it's the silicone caps that may have not cured/dried out.

If you get that airing them out over night seems to help and a vodka, etc. clean for good measure.

Are you sure the 2.8to3 ohm cartos are not for you Deadguy? The 3ohm and above are not for me.

The ones I have are alright for a fill or 3 but that's it. I really think a more mellow 3.7v vape at 3 ohm is for me. If not i can use a different batt config on this thing. Besides what I have is too hot. Drying out after 2 or 3 small hits. With this saber I really need HR cartos.

EDIT See a couple of posts down. I discovered why these have been so bad.

So far I have not been very happy with the E2 ver 4s I have regular and XL. Tonight I did the PTB mod on an XL I've used a few times over the past week and readied a regular for the PTB mod when I have some more time. I'm beginning to wonder if these are really ver 4. In the five pack of XLs one was so full of filler it was literally oozing out while still sealed in package. All the rest were relatively dry though.

So I cut the wick out of the used XL and a regular. I made a big mistake and did not leave enough of the wick to tuck back in.. As a result it is not wicking well.

In the case of my E4s, though, both had much less wick than any I've seen on YouTube videos and pictures. No loops either. And when I was pulling them out they did not come out as a whole strand(s). They also shredded and broke as I was gently pulling them out. Maybe it was because they had been used, although sparingly.

At this point I'm tired of fooling with them. So far I've used each size, pre modded, on an eGo manual battery, my 3.7 v mod box, a regular 510 auto battery, doing every type of vaping style I can and giving them lots of time to wick between not too awfully long draws.

Wee hours of Thur morning and tonight (or should I say wee hours of Fri morning) my taste buds have been brutalized by normally nice vapor from regular juices that has been fouled by my attempts to use the E2; light and heavy juices.

I give up for now...... Maybe next week I'll try again.

So from where are you satisfied people getting your E-2 cartos? I got mine a couple of weeks ago from Awesomevapor. They are aware of some issues that some people are having. I guess it is a hit or miss. I'm unsure of the resistance of these I have.

I have my first 5 volt mod on it's way to me. Wonder where I could get the correct E2 for it and which one it should be. When I do make (or waste as it has been so far) some more time to fiddle with them I'd like to try them with the 5v too.

Another thing that gripes me is that I don't like to have to change my vaping style so drastically to use the E2.

Okay, I feel better now.

Alice

I'll open them all up to air out for a few days.

I so want to be happy with the E2s as many people are and for all of the reasons BlondeA lists. Where did you get your E2 4 please?

I agree hands down with this! For the price you'll get NO COMPLAINTS from me. I vape on my eGo almost two days on my XL E2 (R4) cartos and it's wonderful NOT having to carry about of juice around to 'top' off or 'drip' every few minutes. I had far more 'issues' with Atomizers than these. I'm never going back to Atomizers... they were good while they lasted but I got tired of getting 'bad' ones from the same vendors... no consistency whatsoever. I may have to 'fiddle' with these, but they're worth it. I've used them for weeks now.. I've refilled some of them dozens of times and it's like the 'first' time every time for me... they do what they claim they do and more with a little modding. I just hope they never stop making them. ;) I'm with many of you... we want a low cost alternative to smoking and 'this' new generation carto is it. (IMHO) :)

I opened up all the "E2 4" I have, took plugs out to let everything air for a few days, and made an important discovery.

No wonder I've been dissatisfied. The inconsistencies are pretty startling in wick lengths and condition.

I, also, pulled the wicks out of one side of each, (only one side to speed up the process and get a few hours of shut-eye) to see what they looked like and to ready them for the PTB mods. (I'm going to request replacement and hope that the new ones are from a totally different lot.) So I'm not even going to bother with modding the rest. Well maybe one.

I ordered a five pack of each XL and regular RoyalSmokers.

XLs(wicks in each vary in length - one has no loop and only a 1" tail.)

#1 out of package was dripping with filler. No amount of rinsing/soaking/dry burning would eliminate the foul taste.

#2 I tried using but couldn't eliminate the the foul taste. Rinsed and soaked it several times. Wick disintegrated when pulling out to trim for PTB mod.

#3, 4, 5 white wicks but varying length of wicks and one has no loop and only a 1" tail.

Regulars:

- Three have loop and tail but they are tea-dyed color and stiff. Smells like rodent urine.

- One has normal looking white wick with expected loop and tail; appropriate size. I might PTB mod this one just for grins.

- One I had been trying to use several times this past week. Maybe a total of 20 draws on it between several rinsing/soaking sessions. Hot water rinse/soak, drying and then storing in rice filled container. Wick disintegrated when I pulled it out for PTB mod. I suspect this one probably was originally tea color stained, smelly, and stiff like the other three.

So this certainly goes a very long way to explain why I have be so dissatisfied and disappointed.

I would love to get hold of some good quality E2-4s. Please make recommendations. Please. Granny is begging. I am hoping that my vendor has gotten some good ones in but in the meantime I would surely like to be using some if I have to wait for replacements.

I grabbed my last pack from Clouds of vapor, they were listed as revision 4 and arrived as such.

They just got a fresh batch in yesterday of varying length and ohm that was pretty close to sold out by the time I pounced on a few more packs last night, but I believe I read Bigbuyer saying that he had another order coming in soon after the last one so you may get lucky in a couple days.

Keep checking though, when they do come in they tend to fly out fast.

Sorry to hear of your problems Alice. It does sound like you got the ill famed 'bastomizers'. I got my samples from a member who got them from China and some r3's from Vapor Junction in the US. As the poster above said, COV just got a shipment in.

The variation in wick lengths is troublesome, especially w/ the XL's; some don't reach the bottom. While I haven't run into the problems you have I know it must be frustrating.

You're using a 510 device, right? If so, I'll gladly send you a real r4 XL to try if you want. You can PM me your address if you want to.

I just ordered some PG base liquid to test my assumptions on the VG mixes I have being too thick. For the DIYers out there, 100% VG mixes don't cut it without modding heavily. Once I get the PG base in I'll mix up a batch and hopefully have something that just works out of the box. I'm not a fan of PG, but I'll try it if it means getting these E2s to work properly. Wish I had some R4s that were still fresh in the package.

got mine from COV too about 2 weeks ago. Work great, except for the one i was messing with and broke the wire right after taking it out of the box.

The first thing i did on the other 2 that i'm using right now, was pull the wick out, snip the loops, and fluff up the string a bit, then repacked. They wick pretty well with the 50/50 pg/vg from FSUSA.

But like most people, the taste was hard to break free from. After fighting a very harsh primer taste on 1 for a week, i boiled it last night. As soon as i get home i'm going to put it back together and see it that helped.
