Can you guys please clarify something for me, as I only use mech mods?
I have only had one 'situation'.
I use only gennies. And when you set up the gennies, you have to 'pulse out' the build to get the coils to fire evenly. I only subohm on my dual coil genny, 0.5 or 0.6 Ω. I use AW IMR 18650 to build, and the Tesla Sub Box to vape the sub ohm genny.
So I was building a clone dual-coil genny, and nothing got really warm, or hot, or anything. Was pulsing it out, and i saw a spark out of the corner of my eye. The mod got HOT. Like touching an electric stove burner.
So i immediately unscrewed the button off, and took out the battery. Battery looked fine. Voltage was fine. I still use the battery today.
Pos pin insulator on the atty melted, causing a dead short. I no longer use these attys (Dome clone).

My question is this. I knew immediately, that something was drastically wrong, and stopped doing what I was doing. So how does it get to the point where the battery is venting and the mod is exploding?
Are people really stressing out their batts this much? How can they hold the mod?? I'm not kidding. My mod got like a curling iron!!
Darwin stifled by idiot proofing and modern medicine miracles?

would u let a 16 y.o. drive a race car if he doesnt know how to drive stick?
Would u let a 16 y.o. pilot an airplane with u on it when he isnt trained ?

Isnt it the shops responsibility to tell them hey its too dangerous for u, u might need to not use it u untill u are properly trained

Seems like u dont get my point, let me repeat it again for u

It is the shops responsibility to NOT sell mech mods to new users until they are properly educated about battery safety and how to not short the battery, as it has chance of user error in the hands of a newcomer , they might use batteries that are not safe for the ohms they are building and building lower than they should, resulting in this kids face being blown up

When users are educated about battery safety, using good and authentic batteries, learn how to build and not get shorted out, there wont be any problems, ive used mechs, i like it, shorted out a few times, lucky my face didnt get blown up but if i was the shop owner, i would recommend new people regulated devices and if they really want mech mods i would tell them everything they need to know to avoid getting their faces blown up
Ummm...

Most workers in most shops don't even know batteries have 2 amp limits...

And that the one printed on their rewrapped battery isn't a target to shoot for.

These aren't the people I want responsible to teach my children battery safety.

I'd trust my kids first, honestly.

The other thing nobody ever discusses is when your mech tube becomes as hot as a nuclear holocaust, it's probably not a good idea to bring it up to your face and start sucking on it. The extreme heat has to become apparent long before the user blows his ears off.
The reports always say "I was vaping it like normal, and it just blew up." I have to wonder though, how many times was it, it didn't seem to be firing properly, or it got really hot, or I heard some fizzing, and I put it close to my face to check it out, and it blew up.

My son (he's 20 now) had a Nerf gun years ago that was one of the fancy ones that had a magazine of darts that was like a pump shotgun. It jammed on him one day. I walk into the living room where he's on the sofa, looking down the barrel and squeezing the trigger to see where it's jammed. You can probably guess what happened next...

He's not a stupid kid by any measure. He just didn't think about the potential consequences of his actions. Somewhere, he knew it was not a good idea, but the danger never registered in his brain or was pushed aside by the blind assumption "that won't happen to me."

That same principle could probably be applied to those who have their mech mods turn into fissile objects. The users may have some knowledge of implied risk with what they are doing, but "it'll never happen to me" wins out.

Best exploding e-cig story yet:
In the British version of The National Enquirer..
Didn't this appear under the article that Elvis was spotted in his spaceship with his alien buddies zapping Argentinian cows with Mad Cow Disease in order to wipe out the population of England so the aliens could claim it as a colony?
Yeah, thought so.

Oh, I love Argentinian cattle. Especially when combined with fire and some good seasonings, they are very tasty! Getting them to hold still for this can be difficult though..

(At one time, Argentina was the largest supplier of beef imported in the U.K.)

Exploding e-cigarette leaves teen burned › The Lethbridge Herald – myLH.ca

There was a two-foot by two-foot of flame,” said Greer’s father, Perry. “It lit his gym bag sitting between the two kids in the car on fire.

“Part of his tooth went into his tongue when it broke off.”

Following the explosion, Ty drove himself to his mother’s house and was then rushed to hospital.

“He was in a lot of pain for two hours, until the morphine kicked in,” Perry said.

Ty has already undergone two root canals to begin repairs to his mouth, and may need more surgery.

“It’s horrific. It shouldn’t happen to any child. And no parents should have to deal with that.”

Perry said he talked to the store owner who sold Ty the device, and said the person expressed remorse over the incident.

“He started crying a little bit when I talked to him,” said Perry, adding the meeting was “quite calm.”

Perry said Ty purchased the device on his own and was angered by online comments blaming Ty, and even accusing Perry of purchasing the device, something he categorically denies.

“There are rumours on the Internet that I bought it for him for his birthday,” said Perry. “That’s pretty funny, eh? What parent buys a 16-year-old an E-vape? That’s just stupid.

“People are bored to death sitting in front of their computers. They’ve got no lives, so they make up bull-.”

Perry said he has been further frustrated by the lack of help from the law community in Lethbridge. He said he is exploring his options, but has been turned down by every local personal injury lawyer he has spoken to.

“I can’t seem to find a lawyer,” he said. “Every personal injury lawyer I talk to says the same thing to me: ‘Oh, we don’t handle e-cigarettes’.” He said he even offered to send some photos but has been turned down every time.

Less, without a doubt which only further strengthens user error. The difference between a tube heating and not heating is significant. If I feel my mech tube is generating any unusual heat I quickly unscrew the switch and pop out the batt and let it cool. I check the build and if I am not at a .3 or higher I redo it. The sub ohm stock coils are a big problem for vapors that don't know what they are doing. They slap them on there with any battery and go, not having a clue as to their battery draw.

lol! When I was about 4 I had this neat little plastic gun my parents got me that shot round plastic pellets. One day while at my grandparents farm I decided it was a splendid idea to put said gun in my nostril and pull the trigger. After it was removed at the emergency room I had learned not to do things that seem skecthy. It may not be as cool as you think.

But I can vape a mech without blowing myself up, go figure. :D

Personal injury lawyers likely aren't interested because the view the industry as not having deep enough pockets for the kind of payout they want (the US-based components like the store at which this setup was purchased) or being outright judgement proof (the Chinese manufacturers of the mod, the atty, and the battery).
