Hi, guys.

I am a nonsmoker myself, but am posting for my wife. She tried her first ecig and gave up on it a few months ago and isn't too hot on trying it again. Apparently the Blu would not hold a charge, and became too inconvenient to use. This is very disappointing to me, as I'm supporting her effort to move to an ecig.

Is this normal for Blu? Or is this a widespread problem with ecigs? Or just bad luck? Both she and I are in the dark on ecigs in general, so I am hoping someone can give us some good advice.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hello and welcome to ecf.....The Blu is unfortunetly not the best ecig to start with.....they are not bad per se, they are just way too expensive for what you get and do not hold the same length in charges or in ecig juice....
For about half of the cost of the Blu you can get a 510 full kit(may have to order juice)......a good starting place to look would be cigeasy, liberty-flights, cignot, and any number of other vendors that advertise on this site...
At the top of this page you can find a link for forum suppliers, while ecf does not endorse one vendor over another, it does help our community to know what vendors are tried and true companies.....
Have a look....you will have lots more questions so come back and the members here will help you.
Glad you found us.

Blu is one of the worst performing models on the market from the thousand of posts I have read on this and other forums. They put all their money into marketing and not into the product.

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

Unless your wife is a very light smoker (6-7 a day), I would suggest a better model.

A good beginner model is one in the E-Power/eGo/Riva category. It's the size of a slim cigar and will provide about 5 hours on a charge. She will have many more "eliquid" options that taste better if she buys eliquid she refills her cart or cartomizer herself instead of using prefilled carts like the Blu. Plus it will cost much less. I would also suggest she start out with 18mg - 24mg nicotine strength eliquid and adjust up or down based on her own needs.

But for any PV (personal vaporizer) to work in getting the person to transition to vaping, they still must WANT to make the transition. There is much more work and hassle involved in vaping than smoking. But it is definitely worth the hassale.

I would check out these PV"s:

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - E-Power

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

I would also suggest she try cartomizers which can be less of a hassle as they can hold much more liquid and are basically use for a few days (you can add liquid and keep topping them off) and then throw away and get a new one.

Cartomizers:

Cartomizers

e-Power

Good Luck

Blu and all mini type e-cigs have this problem. They don't have a lot of mAh to begin with and the length of time between charges starts dropping off quickly as you use them. mAh is what determines how long an e-cig lasts between charges and 100 mAh is approximately 1 hour of charge. I think Blu uses a 180mAh battery, so they're short lived to begin with.

I think it's great that you're trying to support your wife! As a general rule, heavy smokers should probably go with the fat batts like the Riva or the eGo. These don't look like cigarettes, but they last much longer between charges and they're easy to use. If she insists on something that looks like a cigarette, then I suggest either Vapor4Life or Smokeless Image. Their kits are much better and more reasonably priced than Blu.

If it isn't holding a charge the battery is probably defective. I would recommend checking out smokeless image, their line is pretty good for a first time vaper. The 510 kits are better, but if she wants something that looks like a cigarette, SI is the way to go. She should order a few batteries (2 or 3 should do it) to make sure she can get through the whole day.

Is that a high quality kit to start with?

Yes, eGo/Riva/E-Power are good "beginner" PV's. MadVapes is having a sale on their E-Powers ($39) and they have a large selection of cartomizers, also. Their mega Ego kit is also nice and comes with some dual coil cartomizers and a nice carrying case:

Thats a good kit ,but might I sggest the same type kit from madvapes.com. The only difference is the mega dual coil cartomizer. Very good reviews in this setup.

Thanks, roblectric. Could you possibly provide a link to a good kit at that site? I looked over that site and, possibly because I don't smoke, myself, I am a bit lost.

I wouldn't say she's a heavy smoker, but she does smoke 1/2 to 3/4 pack a day. I don't mind overkill, though! I want her experience to be good this time. :)

She smokes enough that the E-Power/Ego/Riva would be the way to go. But she will need to learn the "ins & outs" of vaping. Also, stick with manual batteries not auto batteries. They work much better, can't be "killed" by liquid dripping on them and provide better control for the user.

Wow, the Blu cost her around $100, I think. Does everyone agree with this item? I'm about to take the plunge!

Looks good. Make sure to order some extra juice for her......maybe a fruit flavor.......not all of the 'tobacco' flavors, mix it up......give her a little variety, start with one of two 3 or 6 ml to see if she like em before buy huge amts.....
Also in the meantime, utube and ecf have plently of videos to show how to fill and maintain your purchase...
good luck.
