I'm sorry things are that way. It's a crazy world. People against vapour, Jeeeeeez! And they say humans are the rational animal or something, not to mention those who even place us quite high above all animals, something quite apart from the rest of the universe... Well, that's mankind for you. And capitalism too (and I'm not a socialist or a communist or an anarchist, mind you).

I work in an office , but it's in a busy courthouse court department. They won't let me, but I can see their stance because customers are constantly coming in the door and people who know nothing about vaping would think I was smoking. I can understand some work place views on things like this, it doesn't mean the world is ignorant because not too long ago I had no idea what it was either and if I saw a plume of vapor coming from someone I would think they were smoking too. So it definitely doesn't look good to the uninformed, and I can't possibly inform every person walking through the door at my place.

But smoking in the office would be so awesome if I worked in an atmosphere without constant customer interaction. Wish I could, but hey on the weekends and before/after work I'm good. Oh, and bathroom breaks :D

Can you print off some of the docs from CASAA and schedule a 15 minute meeting with HR to present your case.
Maybe they're just ignorant of the differences between eCigs and smoking. Bring a condom with a hole in it (ecig condom you perverts) in case the HR person is also a smoker and offer to give them a toot.

I've been taking my ecig to work for few weeks now and at first they didn't have a problem with it, but just the other day they sent out and email saying that ecigs will be considered cigarettes and can only be used in the designated smoking areas. Now, part of me says it's their right to do what they want, but at the same time, part of the reason I switched was to avoid the long walk to the shadeless smoking area throughout the summer.

I Emailed our HR lady and basically asked how/why they came to that conclusion. I explained that the vapor produced is essentially slightly flavored water vapor, akin to the steam that comes off the coffee thats constantly brewing in the break room. The response I got was that they have taken a "stance against cigarettes, not smoke" and it doesn't matter whether their electronic or not. So I'm tempted to reply and offer to call it a pv, since thats the proper name for it, and ecig is basically just a marketing term. But I have my doubts that they would even consider reconsidering their stance on the issue.

So I was just wondering if anybody has faced similar challenges, how you approached it and what the outcome was.
If I were you do as they say. I am in Canada where we have a ban on nicotine containing juice. You can not even buy it here and have to go underground. If you don't want to risk your job, don't keep pestering them.

whew! I thought you had something else in mind completely. Thanks for clarifying!

To the OP: it's private property, what can you do... not much. I can't vape near my work either, because it's a hospital/doctors clinic environment. As long as it looks like I'm smoking it's a no-go.

Good luck with that.

i've vaped at the hospital a couple of times. once at bedside after my wife had surgery, and once in the waiting room.
both different hospitals. I checked with the Dr. when i wanted to vape in my wifes room at the hospital he said he didnt see any problem with it.
at the waiting room i checked with the front desk and they said the same thing.

Stealth vape in the bathroom.

+ 1,000,000

And if you do this, you can still choose to vape with the smokers in addition to your "bathroom breaks"

However, contrary to the common phrase that if it looks, smells, and feels like something, deduction puts it there; All people need is for something to look like smoke for them to consider it to be smoke. It's not the e-cig that bugs employers, it's the plume of vapor.
Lets say you work at a retail store or an office with cubicle-land, and people start seeing puffs of vapor, someone's bound to complain, why draw needless attention to yourself? The closest I've come to "openly vaping" at work is in the outdoor sections, and even then I hold in the puff long enough for it not to be noticeable, and I don't do it in front of my bosses or customers.
