Rather than derail someone elses thread...I thought I would be kind and check my self to another thread.

I love when those grizzled old fellows finally leap to fruits or desserts. "You don't have Sinnabun in stock?!?!"

HULK RAGE.

EDIT: Aren't sinnabuns used as currency in prison? Them hardcores need their glaze!

Hmm I wonder if ecigs are allowed in prison. I'm guessing no because of battery and nicotine...anyone want to weigh in that one?

Counties embracing e-cigs in lockup

There are some institutions that are allowing it, while others that have been smoke-free for a long time are not. That is just in Illinois, so if Illinois is doing it, I'm pretty sure it's happening elsewhere. Illinois is the last state to allow it's subjects to do much of anything, really.....

Wow what you know you post one random thought and you learn something new. I just figured that if wanted to short out the battery or try to force someone to drink the ejuice that would be considered an added risk. Not to mention they might try to make a spear tip from a plastic tank. Maybe they only allow that it low security inmates. Rocket and I just discussed how we may have watched too many Lock-down episodes a few years back ;)

Actually tooth brushes are much worse. The thicker plastic can be filed down to a nice point, and it really does some damage. Years ago I was shived in the forearm when I worked in a maximum security mental health ward.

Oh Lord... so much potential for smuggling jokes.... must... resist...

Let's do one simple one. I notice none of hte prisoners have box mods.

So, is that an ecig in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me???

The pockets aren't the scary part.

Very true. To me, loss of personal freedom is much worse! Seriously though, since I really didn't read the article I quoted, I wonder if the ecigs are just regular and menthol, or is there more of a flavor selection?

Article didn't really get into too much detail...about the only thing they mentioned was a possible fire source from a battery...and that some prisons are completely smoke free and others allow only cigs and some allow ecigs. The picture at the top of the article was not of a disposable cig but I wonder if that's all they allow. I can see a few 18650 li-ion batteries along with a simple metal wire to short them out as being dangerous.

About the only other thing that I found interesting was that in the smoke free prison they didn't want to introduce ecigs as it could provide a reason for resentment and conflict between those that could afford and those that could not. Then comment of American Lung Association worried about correction facilities making money off of ecigs.

Other than that it really gave you no idea as to how accepted or unaccepted it is in prisons or even county jails.

That's actually funny about not being able to afford them. Everything in jail is used a currency, from cigarettes to ramen noodles. I've even heard about anonymous self-help books being traded for certain items. Truth is, if you want something, there's a way to get it, prohibited items or not.

I haven't seen any examples of prisons allowing ecigs, can anyone find any?

BIG difference between a jail allowing it, and a prison allowing it.

The long and short of it is Prisons looking at Profit. All items are Prison commissary purchase at ridiculous prices. At least in Md.
Then again this state locks up hundreds of Men a year for falling behind on Child support.
You Have to pay - umm, Can't you have me locked up.
State Logic I suppose.

Yeah I suppose jails are a little more laid back than prisons. I think the article is referring to county jails and not prison. Here's another article Forward Thinking Prison Opens Electronic Cigarette Shop for Inmates title has prison in it but think it's actual referring to a jail as they use the term county and sheriff in it.

Look up "CrossBar" e-cigs.

Description from website seems to eliminate the schank issue. Says low voltage as well so maybe they considered the exploding battery thing. Boy I sure have gotten side tracked from one post today ;)

The CrossBar Electronic Cigarette has been designed and produced specifically for use in a correctional environment. The one-piece soft plastic casing differs from most retail driven products that may be used to form a “shank” or razor type device. Our casing is completely flexible and can be bent almost double. Each component including the low voltage power source has been selected for superior performance and highest consideration for the operating environment of a correctional facility.
