Could very well be the case, common wisdom is 6 months to a year, or so it seems around here. MyFreedomSmokes has a 2 batt and stuff kit for about 50 plus postal graft.

So is the Landing still rockin'? I haven't lived in St Loosier for years. I used to be one of those weird kids who hung out in the Loop and the Central West End (even though I went to Parkway North... ha.)

I have a 1000mAh ego that is falling apart in my pocket. The switch ring has come un-pressed from the tube. I have tried gap-filling CA glue. I tried to stake it in place with a center punch. No bueno.

I guess I'll replace it ASAP. Just wondering if anybody else had this problem.

Sounds like it's time to send that eGo to the Great Battery Charger in the Sky.

Lithium Ion batteries are supposed to last 300 full discharges and 300 full recharges. When you get into partial charges and discharges that number can go up over a thousand. It is at this time that Battery University found that, regardless of brand, uniformly all batteries permanently lost 30% capacity. It is then that all smart manufacturers recommend you replace a lithium ion battery. On average that's 10 months a piece.

That said, if you had them "in rotation" (which to me says at least with one other) that amount of time is really low. With two it should be 20 months, 1 year 8 months.

And now to help you. Have you tried epoxy or JB Weld? Hot glue? Super Glue? Here are links to videos you may also find helpful:

Yea for safety sake it would probably be best to recycle it. There are places like Radio shack, Small battery stores and some Office supply stores that will take batteries and send them to be recycled. If you are a DIY type you may want to keep the threaded part of the battery and use it to make a atty tester/dry burn station. I had one Ego twist that bit the dust and I plan on making one when I have the time.
