My impression of these after about 3 weeks: love them, ordering more :D

Anyway, they clogged, got hard to draw so I tried cleaning one out with a dental brush and killed it. The second one I tried normal hot water cleaning that didn't help any with the draw, so I went straight to cutting it open. Should have taken pics... After rinsing and removing the filler, I found that both coils were caked globs and almost completely solid in the middle. With the filler removed, I tried a quick dry-firing for a second or two. The "globs" sort of ignited! They didn't flame up, but actually continued to glow and smolder w/o power to the atty's for almost a minute until there was nothing but ash. The atty's were now clean, but yikes - it wouldn't "go out" until all the gunk burned off! Imagine what it would have been like if it had dry-fired with the filler in...

Couple more notes (sorry if already mentioned):

The filler appears to be identical in size, shape and composition (but longer when unrolled) to the filler I removed from a KR8 carto. Not sure if it really matters to anyone, but I thought someone mentioned somewhere that it was supposed to be different??? Mine also had twin scorch marks from running it too low or something.

The coils aren't always centered perfectly in line with the air hole - which is why some people have problems trying to clean them with a pin or paper clip (or maybe just me with mine, lol). And once they get clogged to the point mine were, there's really not much you can do unless you remove the poly and burn 'em out. Mechanically dislodging the buildup won't really remove it and you'll end up still tasting the crud anyway if manage to do it w/o popping the atty.

FYI: The atty's themselves have no solder on them. Rather, the ends are crimped to teeny copper pieces which are then soldered to the base and wires.

Good info and nice post.

It was me who said the filler is different. If I remember right, it was in comparison to the filler in a boge.. but it might have been some other carto. The filler in all of the dual coils is - well, I'm not sure how to say it exactly, but let's try this: "more loosely woven" than the filler in a boge or in most other single coil cartos such as Ikens or even bauway's etc. I don't use or have any Kr808* stuff, so I can't compare to those. But, boge filler is very compact in comparison to the filler in a DC.

I'm just curious. Were you using thick or dark juice. That's how I finally clogged one up. Otherwise, I've been able to clean them with hot water, dry them, and put them back in use. I've gotten well over a month on one using light 80pg/20vg juice. I'm doing an experiment now with one using a very sweet juice that's medium brown in color. I'd say these cartos are amazing.

Thanks, six.
But in all fairness, I have no idea what brand of KR8 it was... One of the originals that came with my first e-cig is all I can say for sure. Which, btw, they used a mish-mash of different cartos... some had hard caps, some soft; some with vertical coils and most with horizontal. Condom caps were different; slots in the center post varied in size and shape. So yeah, whether they were all Kanger or not... I just don't know since they all had the same "V2CIGS" labels on them.

Little comparison shot below. Can you figure out which is from the EMDCC and which is the KR8?
Hmmm, upon closer examination, it appears the the KR8 filler is just a bit more denser - not much, but noticeable (pic probably doesn't show it though).

All of the dual coil tank discussion threads have comments about this. For instance, the J-Tank which was really designed to run a boge carto requires smaller slots to be cut in a Dual Coil to compensate for the reduced density of the filler. MAP's new DCT Tank uses some very small holes (1/16 drill bit) because of the less dense filler --- etc etc etc.

I wonder how big a carto tank would have to be to accommodate one of these EMDCCs?

The one that clogged the most was using Waffle from MV. But it was also my first that got more use than the others. Waffle had a little color to it. 5ml worth went through it and then I started using a different flavor w/o cleaning (I don't remember what flavor exactly, but pretty sure it was fairly light in color). I buy premixed PG-based, so they're always on the thinner side.

To be fair, I suppose I should keep better track of fluid consumption rather than time-in-use lol - I'd be willing to bet I put darn near 20mL (or more) through each of them before they became unusably clogged (again, without cleaning).

Side note: due to laziness, cleaning was only done as a last-resort and I've yet to get any substantial post-cleaning-use out of any of them... and I'm ok with this as broke as I currently am :p

I have ordered a 510 eGo kit from madvapes. In the description of the kit, it warns to not use atomizers/cartomizers that are less than 2.0 ohms on eGo batteries. The description for these emdcc's lists the resistance at about 1.6 ohms. Any issues here? I'm almost positive they are fine, but I just want to make sure before I pull the trigger on the carto's.

Does the dual coil setup of these push an effective resistance of 3.2? Total newbie here and just "talking out loud" as it were.

Nah - the battery has no way of knowing whether it's a 1.6 ohm single coil or two 3.2 ohm coils in parallel.

There are plenty of people using LR atomizers on eGO batteries, myself included ;)

You got silver EMDCC's?

Pretty sure Marb was talking about the eGo batteries when silver was mentioned.

There are some differences between the ego clone batts madvpaes sells. The black ones are mofset driven (evidenced by the fact the madvapes voltmeter won't read them) and the gold band silver looking ones are unregulated. - The gold band ones are by far my favorite eGo clones of all time bar none period. I have a lot of eGo and eGo clone batteries from several vendors and the gold band ones from madvapes act like a nice IMR battery in that they are capable of more amps at full charge and continue excellent output through their cycle. As my eGo's and Rivas (and other eGo clones) die, I'll be replacing them all with the gold band ones.

Uh, yeah, syntax error on my part - silver/gold MV eGo's, lol :D
As for the differences between the gold vs black - thank you for the info! I knew there was a difference, just didn't know what/why exactly till now ;)

More guts and stuff from a dismantled EMDCC - took some cruddy cel pics of the burnt, crudded up liner thingys that are between the filler and coils. This was using almost completely clear, PG-based fluid. Wasn't as bad as my previous one, but was tasting pretty bad none the less.
Picture1114.jpg
After removing the liner thingys, I dry fired it - this one actually flamed up when I fired for a couple seconds... I shoulda rolled video on it. Dang my impulsiveness! Anyway, I'm wondering if these can be rewrapped, repacked and still work effectively? They're cheap enough to just throw away, but I like tinkering - and the atty's are still functional on this one. Dry-fired and rinsed and it looks good as new - or at least good enough to reuse, lol...
Picture1115.jpg

Oh, and the "liner thingys" had holes burnt into them... as did the polyfill. Any ideas what to use as a replacement? I was thinking of wrapping the atty's with an old CE2 wick and then restuffing the poly around that - think that would work?

Okay, I'm sold. Just ordered five EMDCCs from Madvapes. I've been researching these for over a week now and still haven't finished reading all the posts in this particular thread. After reading Six's and Iffy's posts regarding cleaning these particular cartomizers, I decided I'll give them a try. I'm a cartomizer virgin, still using mega carts with blue foam, and ready to graduate to the next level. Thanks to everyone for this wealth of information.

Folks, if we keep re-cycling these, and I'm still using a few from my first order way back in beginning of July, do you think Smoktech will catch on and make them less re-usable? I mean, supply and demand and all. I for one am going to throw out the first five and break down and order some new ones....lol. I'm going to tell everyone that it's important to give the tips a real good soak in some peroxide or whatever on a regular basis. You don't want to get lip crud, or gum lessions from dirty tips. It has happened. My hubby hates to turn his over to me for a good steam cleaning and he started to get a lip sore. Now I grab his cartos when I do mine. He's ok, but lesson learned. Of course he walks around with one of these hanging out of his mouth almost 24/7. His tips have permanent teeth marks.

I don't know exactly how many they sell, but I don't think they have a problem selling them ;)
Not sure what the starting number was, but their first batch seemed to sell out fairly quick...
I ordered a bunch more of standard and one clear a couple days ago...
And yeah, I pretty much scrapped the idea of reusing the one posted above, lol

I started reading this thread a couple of days ago! then read how iffy and six cleaned them and searched throught out the thread and how much you guys loved them! I got nevous that MV would sell out of these fast before I could finish this thread!

LOL - I ordered 20 of these from MV with some adapters! I could not find a coupon code but I did manage to score some points (72 points to be exact)

Now to do some more research on an EPIPE!! I have been reading over at Epipemods thread where they mentioned also how great these were.. They look sweet on the epipes too!

Presently I use a liquinator tank from vaporessence (3 ml)! I use a 1.5 LR smoke tech carto submerged within the tank. The carto is always a clean draw and never get a dry inhale. I hope these compare as good as what I am used to... I will let you guys know once I get them!
