Ok, yet more questions :)

So I have some Riva 1100 mah (usb passthrough) batteries I have yet to break out of the box. I have done some research and found that carts with a low resistance (such as the EMDCC) can pull 2.x amps and kill batteries. Does anyene have the same batteries as me and have you experienced any premature failures? Is there a possibility of a catastrophic failure (i.e. my face getting full of flaming shrapnel)? I have a passthrough (this one:USB Variable Voltage Passthrough) any issues there i should be aware of?

THanks to all for the helpful advice thus far.

I've been using eGo batts (650, 900 & 1000) and the eMDCCs for over seven months without a failure. Besides, there are vendors that sell eGo/DC kits.

Just use and enjoy!

Has anyone got the EMDCC working on a passthrough? I can't seem to get it to fire. I am sure that the contact between the battery and cart is good... not working though.

5v with 1.7 ohms is about 3 amps. Most wall adapters are limited to 2 amps and the USB 2.0 spec (if you're plugged in to your computer) is 1 amp.

To get a 1.5 to 2.0 ohm dual coil working on a passthrough, you'll need a wall adapter that can get to 3 amps.

EDIT: USB Spec is for 500mw - half an amp. Many mainboard manufacturers don't adhere to the spec and most usb ports can actually provide about an amp or even an amp and a half in some cases.

"Yesterday i filled a new carto of this type with my favorite liquid and i just got a very nasty taste:s This was the first time this happend and ive used 30+ of this carto's. Has anyone else had this cus i was really surprised about it. It was not a waste of the carto for me but of my liquid since im very low on it Lets hope this wont happen again.."

Out of my 1st four, I had one like this; that just wouldn't wick properly. Glad to hear from others who had one in 30 or so that this should NOT be a common problem. My last order of standard BOGE cartos had several that did this. Each looked strange from the top: like the inner "sleeve" wasn't wrapped properly. Don't remember if the EMDCC had the same look to it.

I haven't had a bad EMDCC yet. And probably won't, because I recently bought a Buzz Pro and a liquinator tank to go with it. :)

Before I got the tank, I did use my EMDCC (with an 510-ego adapter) on the Buzz Pro for a bit, and it worked great.

Just curious if you don't mind - what was the sweet spot on voltage with the EMDCC? I've always assumed that it might be near 4.4. Thanks in advance.

Ok...here's my experience with the Smoke Tech eGo mega dual coil cartridges...prior to this I was dripping on a Joye 510 atty on Ego batteries ranging two 650 mah and one 900 mah.

I ordered 5 of these from Mad Vapes over a month ago. 3 black round tips and 2 clear round tips. I tried them first on my 650 mah's and it drained both of those batteries within minutes (these are pretty old batteries). Tried it on my 900 mah and OMG it was love at first site. The hit took litterally took my breath away the first few hits I took. After I got used to it and realized I liked it so much I ordered a 1000 mah battery.

I used the clear one first but I filled it with MV's coffee flavored juices and I noticed that the cart was becoming super dark and clogged within a few days. I tried boiling it for 15 minutes, blowing it out, boiling again for 15 and letting dry overnight but it never came back. I figure for $2.79 it wasn't worth the hassle and figure it was still money well spent. I have MV's tobacco and clove flavor in my other clear one that I use on occasion and it hasn't changed colors and is still producing good vapor and strong TH's.

Now I can get about a week of really good production when I used MV's fruity flavors before I notice that they become clogged. I am probably not saving too much money since I usually had to break out a new $8 510 (I had 3 in constant rotation- coffee/desert, tobacco, and fruity) atty every month but the production of this cartomizer blows the 510 atty out of the water and it's worth. I will probably go through 4 MDCC's each which will be a little more than $8 but still soo much worth it.

Now I have to realize how not to be too greedy when it comes to refilling these suckers. I can't seem to find the "sweet spot" and have enough liquid w/o getting drenched with juice. That's my only complain thus far. I am a fan.

I have a lil' experience with the eMDCC and Buzz Pro. I like the lighter jooses at 3.7-4.2. The darker ones at 4.1-4.5.

I don't know. Wild guess? Barely over 4.0.

I'm not sure, and I would expect that the sweet spot will vary depending on the juice, and who is vaping it. Different people like different things, different juices have different sweet spots, etc.

And I don't have any kind of accurate gauge. The Buzz Pro does a great job (I love mine) but it doesn't have any kind of LCD screen telling you what your voltage is. It has a very simple dial. You can get a voltage meter which will tell you. (from notcigs.com, or a bunch of other places. Madvapes has them.) I don't have one of those. I'll probably get one, eventually, but it's low priority. I have a regular voltage meter in the tool chest, but I've no idea how to use it.

I really don't care what voltage I'm at. If I feel I need more, I turn it up. If I feel I need less, I turn it down. The number isn't important to me.

What I can tell you is that if I put an EMDCC on a buzz pro and turn it all the way up, it won't fire. The Buzz Pro is fairly smart, and at some point, it see's that I'm putting in more voltage than the EMDCC can handle, and shuts down. I know this from testing (aka playing around), I don't really need it running that much voltage anyway. When I use an EMDCC on the buzz pro, with Boba's Bounty (my all-day-juice) I like it fairly low. Well below the half-way mark. I know it has to be more voltage than my eGo batteries ever did, but it's not a whole lot more. But at that point, it's kicking out a lot of vapor.

Again, if I had to guess, I'd guess it's at 4.0 or barely over. But it's a guess, and I'm sure it varies a lot for various reasons.

I tended to fill them until it was dripping out the bottom, then blow them out good, several times. It wasted a little juice, but not enough that I really cared.

However, I have wondered if overfilling that way was making them clog faster than was really needed. And they hold so much juice that it isn't really necessary to get them 100% full. I may have been better off to fill them until I could tell they were getting close - and then just stopping.

That would mean less juice getting in the center hole, and since that seems to be where the clogs happen, they would probably last longer.

After reloading the eMDDC several times and the draw gets hard and/or flav starts to wane, just blow out the joose pooled in the bottom of the carto. Yeah, ya may 'waste' a lil' bit of joose. But it's joose that's being sitting there from the first fill, not good stuff. Then refill as normal.

Let me know if that helps ya'll.

Ok, I think i may have used the life out of my first EMDCC. The draw is a bit tougher and it no longer snap cracke and pops.. is that the sign this one is destined for the trash? I don't think it is dry, but it is possibe... not producing much vapor though..

Anyone have any input on tossing it or trying to salvage it?

Also, anyone vaping 100% VG thick juice from these, does that work ok? I am thinking of ordering some juice with no PG.

Thanks

Most straight VG juices are thinned with distilled water and won't be an issue.

There are three or four ways to clean an EMDCC - boiling or rinsing in hot water or PGA or *gently* running a straightened paper clip up the center hole come to mind. I've tried them all and while some of them work some of the time, for less than $3 a carto it might be prudent to just pitch the thing.

I've run one of them for a month by just keeping the center hole clear.

So I just filled my first EMDCC from Liberty-Flights its the one with SMOK labeled on the bottom and it came with the flat tip. Im having a hard telling if it full or not, I read a number of you blow through until you can see through the hole but i have noticed that everytime i blow liquid comes out and i filled with about 90 drops and it doesnt look over full. Should liquid always come out when you blow into it or will it stop once its filed to the right amount?
