I burned my first EMDCC yesterday. I think it was faulty to begin with, as it didn't draw or produce like it should. It started tasting nasty, and I pulled the mouthpiece off and could see a black streak down the side, and some of the filler was gone. I then pushed the button, and could see it fire up. These things get red hot, or at least that one did.

Yes, I'd say that you had a dud. You don't see the hot coil usually unless it's on purpose. This is the first I've heard about one like this.

Pulled a "dumb dumb"...I was fiddling with my EMDCC...as a former dripper I am slowing breaking myself of fiddling with it...and I thought it might be a little clogged so...here's the dumb dumb part...I stuck a paper clip down the tube and all hell broke lose...ok that is a bit dramatic, but when I went to take a drag on it after it barely produced much vapor and it felt like I was inhaling pure hot juice (if that makes sense). I chucked it and vowed I wouldn't insert any foreign objects in the tube again. Live and learn, eh?

Also I have found that it is very easy to block the air flow on these things where they are situated with my finger. I have to be cognizant where I place my finger when I draw on it or it gets all "hot and bothered".

i think this has been addressed before, but: With my 1st batch of these, I found the same to be true for me. I grabbed a file and gently added a 3rd slot on the edge of the skirt 90 degrees from the originals. So, no matter where the EMDCC ends up, there is at least one slot not covered by any fingers. In the latest batch I got, the seemed to have raised the center post; probably to correct the contact problems talked about earlier in this thread. This also helps with the "clocking" problem of the air slots in that I get good contact of the center post well before the skirt bottoms. Thus, there is a "springy" action that allows me to clock it so that the air slots are in a better position. Vape on!

I just noticed that the draw / airflow is adjustable right before reading this.. Good post

I tried them, and I don't see the point.
I have been using the XL Duel coils for the past few months. I tried a couple of the mega ones, and this is what I found:

The XL's initually take 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 ml's to fill up.
Megas take a little over 3 ml's to fill up.

The XL's need refilling every 3/4 to 1 ml.
The mega's need refilling every 3/4 to 1 ml.

The mega's hold more juice, but have to much area around the coils. If it is not all the way full, it will start burning the juice. They dont last any longer between refills than the XL's. All they do is need more juice to get them started.

I like to also top my mega's off alot as it keeps the flavor fresh. Where I disagree with you is the vapes are different. I feel the mega's have a fuller vape. That is why I prefer the mega's.

But there is no right or wrong but rather whatever works for you is the right one.

LOL!! Figures. Read through the entire thread, only to find it's gone cold.

Anyhowww...
I didn't want to start a new thread before checking this one out to see if I could find what was on my mind. And I did, finally.. and in part.. in post #1304.

I'm using this 900mah battery, along with the SMOK branded eGo Mega Dual Coil Carto, and I have to say I'm just loving it!
This setup works perfectly for my needs/purpose: I can trust the batt lasting a full day and ditto for the carto.

Thanks for all the other tips and tricks, guys and gals!

Just for information:

I've tried the EMDCC on my new VV mod. It works unbelievably good at 4.25 volts. The taste is great and there are clouds of vapor. You have to use a 510 to Ego adapter, but it's well worth the extra effort. Multiply the intensity of flavors by about 3 times - compared to EMDCCs at lower voltage - and then you'll know why EMDCCs are popular on mods. You also have the higher juice capacity. It's a win - WIN.

Possible change of heart / mind here.

Suddenly having a problem with the LR 1.25 900mah batt.
When I first got 'em (recently) I thought they were da katz perjammiez.
Now I'm not so sure.
Charged a brand new ( factory uncharged) on the proper charger. After 2 hours the light went from red to green. used it well into 3 days before the blue LCD began flashing. Put it back on the batt-USB thingamajingy, plugged that into the AC adaptor, plugged that into an outlet and the light remained green. Unplugged, unscrewed, put back on, re-plugged -- still green. Let "charge" for 2 hours anyhow. Put on carto and first push of the button it's still flashing blue. Recharged again. Light stayed green. Same result.

So, do I have a bad batt or a bad thingamajingy? Comments? Input?

Bit of a bummer, this. See, I purchased this as a "kit" from one of the non "Big Boys." Didn't realize it wasn't an actual "factory assembled" kit until it arrived without any instructions. But at the time, hey -- that was ok. It was the ideal setup I'd been looking for, and at first it worked great. One thing I noticed though as I topped off the carto was every time I screwed them back together it turned just a bit more.. until at the end of 3 days it'd turned approx another 1/2 turn.

I'm currently running on the 2nd batt, which happened to arrive fully charged.

I went to MadVapes last night to order some more cartos, juice and another batt (I'd already deceided to add a 3rd batt prior to the non-charging problem.) When I got to the batt I saw both love 'em and hate 'em reviews, but still ordered one anyhow (mistake??)

I went with the 900mah because I liked its size. Now I'm wondering if perhaps I should go / should have gone with the 1000 or 1100 instead, since they seem to have a more tried and true proven track record.
I'm also typing in this thread because everyone here seems to have a really good grasp on the mega cartos and batts of this size/nature.

So what do y'all think? -- Is it the batt, or is it the batt-to-USB (leading to the 110V 2A AC plug) part?? I don't have another batt ready to be charged yet, so can't make that determination here just yet.. and even then if it doesn't work I guess I still won't know whish is the problem.

I've gone from thinking this is my vape machine to I'm not so sure about that now in a heckuva hurry.

Looking forward to hear what y'all have to say about this.

Thanks,

SA

PS -- The cartos & batts arrived sealed and as far as I can tell are genuine SMOKTech. The 2A 110V AC wall plug and the batt-to-USB with charging indicator red/green light did not arrive sealed.

I'm no expert, but it sounds like you're maybe having the same problem I have with my gogo. The post gets pushed in too far (all that over turning you did ;) ) and it's not getting good contact with the charger...thus, it reads charged even though it's dead and not making contact with the charger *takes breath...

Take a pair of tweezers and GENTLY pull that post on the battery out by rocking back and forth, then try screwing it into the charger. Bet you get a red light AND a good charge ;)

I will try that, thanks. Couldn't recall how y'all had been working the post back out though.

As far as 'over turning' goes -- Nuh-uh; only to the snug point. Each time it just kept getting a bit further along is what. I think someone mentioned the "soft metal" in a MV neg comment, btw. Yet it looks and feels sturdy.

Onward.

Yep, same deal with my gogo...I use a 510 adapter with it a lot of the time so I've always assumed that's what caused it, but who knows. Could be I was just lucky enough to get the 1 in 1000 that's like that. All I know is that I have to do that EVERY time it needs charged. A pib, but otherwise, I love it. Let us know if it works will ya?

Cheers,
Patti
