If you are looking for higher wattage, they make a 0.5 stainless steel coil, you might want to try one, it should withstand your wattage needs better. It also is TC capable to my understanding, which might help your coil life, actually.

What VG/PG ratio are you using? Your VG might be too high, causing the wick to gunk/clog.

You really have to find a way to either get a different coil, or turn down the wattage. It is just too high for that coil.

Anna

And this is the blunt honesty I need in my life. Being new to vaping I need someone to just point blank tell me the way you just did. I've also learned I need to gain a better understanding of Ω because I thought higher meant higher wattage. :censored:

I am using a 70vg/30pg

I have turned it down to 25.5w now and actually went to 2.0s without it burning.

My wife vapes on 13.8w and is currently refusing to vape with the ego tank after several attempts and a burned taste. This was on pack juice, skittles 0mg nic and 50/50 (same coil).

LOL Its not the tank, it is the coil. Can you look at the coil and tell us what color the oring is? That will help us better help you.

ETA: It's actually titanium, so you HAVE to vape it in TC mode. Vaping it in wattage mode would cause undesirable byproducts in your vape.
Sorry Anna, they don't make a stainless steel coil for these. You can rewick the CLR's with ss. The coils that come with this are kanthal, nickle and titanium.

Also you really need to turn the watts down and work up to your sweet spot. If you have burnt the coil then replace it and start over. You need to be willing to work with the gear you have. Every type of tank/coil acts differently. The ego One's are made to mouth to lung vapers. That means low wattage. If you desire to vape at higher wattage you need a different type of tank/coil.

What would you suggest? I seem to really prefer 33w.

Being a new vaper how would you know what wattage you prefer? Did someone tell you to use at this level?

In order to get satisfaction from vaping you need to use the gear as intended. You can get a satisfying vape using a 1.0ohm coil in the ego Tank by starting the wattage at 9.8(for a new coil) and breaking a new coil in. Take a couple of hits, up the watts slowly by taking hits. This will help to break in a new coil and show you how to use the ego tank.

There in lies the problem thats a "cl " coil in your tank known by many here including myself not to wick properly and the e-liquid i make is at 96% PG thin as water and still today vape at 12.5 watts.
The Clr's are the ones you want for the accepting tank.
Then once clr coil head installed as "Sugar n Spice" stated start wattage low and work slowly up until you get the vape you like.
Here below is the clr coil head the bottom knurled ring can be screwed up for high PG users to slow the flow of e-liquid to coil where as screwing it down will allow more e-liquid to the coil.Plus one can take it apart and put in make a new coil if they choose comes in 1 ohm or .5 ohm.
With the CL coil head the one you showed its has no adjustment.
Good luck and you can always ask questions here in this thread as many are willing to help.

No, no one told me to vape at 33w. This was just me and being uneducated when it comes to vaping(which is what lead me to this forum). I started at around 13.8w(on kangertech kbox and 0.5Ω) and consistently went up until I hit 33w. Again I say being an uneducated vaper I just assumed that this was my number in any mod with any tank(thus begins the learning curve).

I will lower my wattage to what you suggested. The itaste mvp pro 3.0 I have now goes up in wattage in .5 increments. What is the higest that would be okay on a 1.0Ω? I know it's been said to go up until I find what I like but it has also been said that 33w is too high for this coil.

AS stated before, every tank and coil are different. You were able to go that high in wattage with a 0.5 coil using the kangertech and I assume their coils.

I would not go over 20 watts, but I really think you will begin liking it way before that. Probably around 13-15 watts. And also do pick up some ego CLR coils. The R stand for rebuildable. Even if you don't want to rebuild these coils, they are around the same price as the stock coils and taste and perform hundreds of times better.

Let us know how its going.

Awesome thank you! Yes at the moment rba makes me nervous but as my comfort level increases as does my understanding of what, how and why, I will be ready to learn how to use an rba!
The CLR coils also come in 0.5 ohm

Per Sugar n Spice great advice would like to add - Mrswood you show a CL coil head known to be a hit or miss may i suggest a clr coil head same company and made for these tanks as well they have knurled bottom ring to screw down allowing more e-liquid to the coil for high VG users or one can screw it up for high PG users so as not to flood the coil.
Thats most likely your problem with burnt taste that CL coil you have has no adjustment at all.
Here is picture and one can make a new coil and install as they are rebuildable.
Here is CLR coil .

The mod is the little known, and very much under-appreciated Ola-X Hero 30W. It's inexpensive, WELL built, and likely never to be seen again once gone. They just never took off like they should or could have, for whatever reason. My guess would be its weight, but there's a trade off for having a mod built like a brick :censored: house (and it IS).
I got a couple of those based on David's recommendations. Very nice!

Wow, I didn't catch that. I didn't know anyone ever used the original CL coils.

Use the CLR coils. They're better. Plus, you can just save your old coils in a baggy. Then they'll be there if you ever learn to rebuild. They're one of the easiest to rebuild.

Thank you so much! I will definitely try one of these. I seem to prefer high vg juices for the most part. The only exceptions are on days that I have severe cigarette cravings then I will add some extra pg for a throat hit which seems to help with the cravings.

I use the 1Ω ones that came with the tank. I found them to be OK. They do burn out pretty quickly but they are free (sorta).

I tried a Ti CL and hated it - they don't get used.
