So clearly everyone is a big fan of the Ego. I've had a 510 kit for just over a month now, and am very satisfied, but am also curious to try out the Ego. But is the only difference battery life?

I'm certainly not a huge fan of the 510 battery life, but if I'm at home, I don't really care, and will probably eventually pickup a passthru anyway. Out in public, I think the Ego is just a bit sketchy looking, so I'd probably rather have my 510 and several batteries.

That being said, is there any reason I should still look at the Ego? Any differences OTHER than battery life from a normal 510?

The battery and the Draw are about the only real difference. The battery's last all day for most people and thats also true for me. Also if your a dripper and you leak the cone keeps the juice from getting everywhere.

Also you can start to use LR attys. 306's and 510's

The Ego's look great compared to most 3.7v mods. They are also a lot smaller than they appear in pictures and videos.

Forgot to add the draw is warmer and tighter

Aside from the aesthetic design and the battery life...no. They typically do not put out 3.7v, but neither does a standard 510 battery. I believe the only proprietary battery design that puts out a consistent 3.7v is the KR808.

If you're looking to graduate...find yourself a true 3.7v device and pair it with an LR atomizer.

Best of both worlds. The eGo USB batt. That way you get an eGo and a passthrough in one. And to me, the big plus of an eGo besides batt life and higher drain rate and having peak voltage for longer, is the eGo mega attys. Much more vapor and better flavor over a 510 atty. Plus the huge 2.5ml cart. Liberty flights has the eGo PTs for $20 Electronic Cigarette - Pass-throughs - Joye eGo and myfreedomsmokes.com has the big attys for $6.57 w/ coupon code "smoke".

I'd take the eGo over a regular 510 any day. I've really really grown to love the cone, for reasons already listed above. I have a mod that is sitting in a drawer at home that I use as a backup. Not everyone likes the cone. Some people just think that it makes it look better. I think that the cone, along with the great battery life and small size are what make the eGo so great.

If you're satisfied with the battery life and aren't interested in trying LR atomizers, no.

However, if you're not satisfied with the cart life of 510's, then maybe.

You can buy larger capacity carts, atties and cartomizers specifically for the eGo.

But... you can also buy Mega 510 carts and cartomizers. Those will work on regular 510 batteries.

So... if you don't like the look of the eGo and can live with the 510 battery life, there is no compelling reason to buy an eGo.

Thanks for the advice everyone. LowThudd keeps pimping the eGo USB battery everywhere lately, and for that price I figured since I want a passthru anyway, I'd give it a shot. Just ordered that, a cone, and an eGo cartomizer to try. If nothing else, I got a passthru out of it. If I like it, I can add other eGo pieces later on down the road.

Excelent decision. BTW, I hope you got a refilling tool to go w/ that eGo carto. They require a syringe to fill normally. They are kind of a PITA, but they work well for a little while. Check out the eGo model specific forum and the eGo users group. DaMulta came up w/ a good way of filling them, but I haven't tried it yet. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-users-group/128188-easy-how-fill-mega-cartomizer.html Personally, I love the eGo mega attys for the simplicity and the function, but that carto will give you a pretty good idea of what the big attys are like.

Hey, just cause there's not a necessity doesn't mean it ain't worth trying. I don't *need* 3 different types of atties, 30 flavors of juice, and 7 batts of various models and sizes, but who cares? :D

Good call. If you don't like taking the eGo out, at least you've got a good at-home vape that will save you charges on your batts, and that you can just unplug and walk around the house with when you're up and about.

Since you went ahead and got the EGO USB, then you need to try the other perk about the EGO... LR atomizers/cartomizers. Try a low resistance ANYTHING on it and you'll get alot more power, warmth, and throat hit out of your new PV. It will feel more like smoking a cigarette and will fulfill your nicfits quicker. Just give one a try! You'll be happy you did.:2c:

I already have a syringe to fill my 510 cartomizers LowThudd, so I'm all set. I did order a couple of extras while I was ordering the eGo USB, since I don't see lots of places selling them, and I'm too sketchy about asking for one at CVS or Walgreens. :/

MistressNomad, trust me, this is already becoming an addiction. Luckily I haven't gone totally crazy on hardware yet, but I spent a chunk of cash on juice last week and will have a LOT of things to try this week as they all start coming in. Can't wait.

LR atomizers are next up... Definitely already looking for some way to store all this stuff.

Hi,
I am a complete newbie here- to vaping and ECF.

I have a Tornado from Totally Wicked. I have NO idea if it is an eGO or a 510. Would someone be so kind as to tell me the difference between the two? I think the Tornado has a 650 mAh battery (is that the correct term?) and I do wish I had a little longer life battery because since I quit analogs on 9/21/10 I have been a vaping maniac. I do have 2 batteries so I always have one charged and ready to go when the one I am currently using runs out. Also, what is a "pass through"?

I have so much to learn! All I do know is I am happy to be off the analogs. I may be a life long vaper but it is certainly better than a lifelong smoker, which is pretty much what I was...I smoked for 25 yrs.

Thanks for any clarifications you can give me and any advice about upgrading to perhaps a longer life battery that will be compatible with my other Tornado parts.

Jackken007...

You didn't explain the difference between the two, would you mind doing that for me? Also I have no idea what a V13 e-cig is, would you explain the difference between all three of them if you wouldn't mind?

Like I said I am a complete newbie and so much of this is over my head and I am trying to learn as much as I can so if and when I replace what I have with a longer lasting battery I can be more informed and make the choice that is best suited for me. If I don't know the differences I can't make an educated choice.
A million thanks!

Yes, the Tornado is in fact a rebranded Joye eGo. And there are larger batts for it. When I first started vaping I could drain a 650mAh ego in about 2 hours. I upped my nic level, and I vape alot less. I have a 900mAh batt, and that lasts me all day. There are also 1000mAh batts. The V13 that was mentioned is not a Joye/Janty product, but it is a 1300mAh batt fully compatable w/ the eGo stuffs.
