Dan,
I'd already created a rudimentary xls calculator before I saw yours here. So, I downloaded yours but Excel pops up with a warning about macros. It wants a digitally signed Trusted Certificate. I can lower my Excel security settings to use it. Just wondering, can't you include the certificate to avoid this issue?

EDIT: Excel 2003 (11.8237.8221) SP3

From wandering around you awesome calculator, everything seems to function alright. What functions would the lack of macro support affect?

Because digital certificates for the Microsoft Office and VBA Signing Digital ID cost 499.00 for a 1 year period for a class 2 certificate from verisign. And reducing the macro settings are free, I do not want to incure cost that would put me in the hole, yes I could use a free cert creation tool (Selfcert.exe) but it is not one that has been approved and you would have to install it on your computer. Since the free cert creation tool is typically for a company enviroment that everyone can access, I would have to make it available for everyone to download and then answer all the questions of how to install it. Easier to have people lower the macro setting for this calculators use. I will create one and make it available, but you will have to import it with internet explorer from the tools> internet options> content> certificates> import then browse to the certificate. I will include this with version 11.
If you want it now in preperations for version 11 you can download it here:
eJuiceCalculator certificate
Note: This has not been added to version 10.
The macro functions that would not work are the VG PG radio buttons and the macro for the copy of the recipe to the recipe sheet.
I hope this answered your questions,
Dan

Ok,
Yes I have been busy as usual :)

New things in version 11:

1.) Fixed the Office 2003 error: 'Run-time error 438: Object doesn't support this property or method.
2.) Added Section 5, new routine for adding two liquids together, you can now specify the mg% and quantity of the target mix, and the two mg% strengths and it will tell you the quantities to add to make the target.
3.) Added a "How much will it cost to make my juice by the ml" page
4.) Added links to common flavor manufactures, bottles, pipettes, and PG/VG sources to the additional mixing help page.
5.) Added The Perfumers Apprentice (TPA) to the flavor drop down list.
6.) Updataed the Capella flavor list.
7.) Added a personal certificate so you can raise your macro setting to protect your computer. To install the certificate do the following:
Open Internet Explorer, from the main menu select tools> internet options> content> certificates> import, then browse to where you saved the certificate. Open version 11 and select trust this certificate from this publisher. Now you should be good.
Download the certificate here: eJuiceCalculator certificate

As always the download link is in my signature. For those with download problems get it from downloading the direct download attached. Unfortunantly the ECF will not allow the cert to be attached.
Dan

EDIT: Ignore my post, it seems you updated it RIGHT after I downloaded it. All seems to work now

Yea, I seem to have a few issues with v11.

When I try to switch it to VG, I get prompted for a password.

When I add a water/PGA amount in section 1, it doesn't show up in section 2 (it just doesn't calculate it, VG/PG w/ nic, PG/VG, and flavor = 100%, no matter what I put for water/PGA)

Thats about as far I got till I reverted back to an older version.

Good to hear,
Yeah when I went back and checked the PG and VG radio buttons I got the same thing, removed the password and everything fell back into place.
Thanks for the feedback.
Did you try the certificate out of curiousity?

Dan!

I love each new version of your calculator! I can't imagine working without it anymore. I have become totally dependent.

I think the links to suppliers is a great addition. I do think you should add Happy Vaper in Canada as a supplier for our Northern friends.

By the way, I really like the new Perfumers Apprentice flavors. The Cappuccino is my favorite thus far. I feel I need to collect them all now!

Thank you once again for all you have done for us! You are the Man!!!

:)

I like it, but I've got all flavorart only flavors and can't seem to find any recipies in the program that use them, I can see them listed in the flavor list for drop downs but can't figure out how to find the recipies with them. Great program:)
EDIT: also the radio buttons for PG vs VG don't seem to work so good, I'm using openoffice, maybe that's the problem?

Thank you Dan for all your help. Also to everyone else that has contributed. I have read through this from page one and all I can say is my hats off to you Dan. You are a very kind and patience man. There will be a special place for you in heaven. I know I read on on of the pages where you get your PG and or VG from, but I can't find it again . Would you mind telling me where you get your supplies from. There are so many places but I trust that you have found a good source. Again THANK YOU!!

Look on the additional mixing help page in the calculator :)
But here is the link: The Chemistry Store (PG and VG source)

I have not tested it in open office since I added the radio button features for PG and VG, if you want to send me a PM detailing the difficuties I will work with you.

Ok, chc has PM'd me asking about the field "none" when in VG mode, and why there isnt any PG field. You asked I add...
The VG routine now allows you to add PG%'s in the PG field where it was "none" hope this helps everyone.
Thanks chc, good idea.
Download is in my sig or get the attached file.

As tempting as pure nicotine is in terms of price and storage, I'd never touch that stuff. Far, far too dangerous.

It would seem a good idea to me, for those who did get hold of it (and don't try, please), to immediately dilute the stuff down to a managable level, 1:10 at least (giving you 100mg/ml), but even better, to something like 36mg, or if you actually mix liquids with higher nic in them, 72mg/ml juice. Easier to calculate than 100mg.

Because if you do that, you don't have to worry about things like getting a drop on your skin, which is all it takes to make you quite sick if it's pure nic. And when you do handle that stuff in pure form, do remember to wear protective gear. Nicotine is absorbed through the skin easily.

Following Scubabatdan's advice I will not post any methods or strategies regarding the handling of 99+% nicotine.

That being said I do IMMEDIATELY dilute the stuff to a 50 mg/mL concentration because my fear of just one caustic but careless mistake is far too great to try and use it out of its container.

I'd suggest getting flavorings you might be interested in tasting as well.

PG & VG have a taste of their own (even in vendor bought or DIY juice making), that different people perceive in different ways. Some mix the two for a personal taste/use balance as well as adjusting viscosity.

Myself, I prefer a VG/PG mix of 50/50 % because "I" find PG on its own tastes chemical, where the VG has a sweeter less harsh taste but is too thick on its own, and the addition of the VG produces a better exhaled vapor.

There are many ECF vendors that sell zero nic juices you can try, and some or most that offer DIY supplies as well.

Items can be purchased outside of the circle as source stuff from different places but finding the items that a the proper ones to use can sometimes prove difficult for some.
