I agree, to make F10 dynamically change with the recipe definitely complicates things. Again, the overall strength of flavor in the vape is subjective. My thought was just that recipes with several stronger flavorings would probably require a less overall ratio of flavorings compared to a combination of weaker flavorings.

So, you usually do about 5% flavorings Dan? I am still yet to make my own juice (have everything I need, just using up my pre-mixed juice first), but I was thinking more like 20% flavorings...... eeek.

I always start with 5% and add as needed, you can always ADD LOL... subtracting is a little more difficult.

I agree that it'd be much easier to add flavor than take it away! And I think I was just thinking too "precisely" with the calculations and options. lol

It's fine the way it is, and as you say, most people would know what they like. I'm still glad I threw the idea out there though because when I do get around to making my own juice, I was planning on 20% flavorings, and I think that may have been a wee bit too much!

I've said it before but I think it bears repeating..... your e-juice calculator is one of the best contributions to this site and I'm sure every DIYer (and future DIYers) here fully appreciates your efforts.

Great Scottes! :)
Couldnt resist hehehe....

Mix it 1:1 - 1ml 48mg and 1ml PG - and you'll have 24mg juice.

Mix it 1:2 - 1ml 48mg and 2ml PG - and you'll have 16mg juice.

Mix it 1:3 - 1ml 48mg and 3ml PG - and you'll have 12mg juice.

Here is a downloadable/printable cheat sheet for everyone wanting just ratio mixes. I did a spreadsheet from 1 - 75mg vs 1:1 - 1:10 ratio's. Just right click save picture as, and then print it out or view it.
Here it is:

Hope this helps

Just wanted to point out that you're missing half the options (in a sense;)) - for example, if I have 36mg/ml fluid and mix it 4:1 with PG/VG, the result is 28.8mg/ml. Your table presumes that the target strength is AT MOST ONE HALF the original strength.

The constant in the spreadsheet (1) is set to be 1 part nic base to 1 - 10 parts VG/PG. I did not write it to be 4 parts Nic to 1 part VG, just made it for people to be able to cut their high nic base with PG/VG and what it would be in a ratio bases as you add more VG/PG to the nic juice. I suppose I could make one that runs the other direction, so it is constant 1 part VG/PG to 1 - 10 parts nic juice.
Geeezzzz slave drivers....

I will work on it.

The V7 ejuice calculator is the best thing I have seen if you want to mix your own juice.

Thanks Martha!

Ok Newkirk, here is the other side of the coin...

NicRatiopart2.jpg

you happy now :) LOL

I do understand what you were talking about and it makes sense to add it in, so enjoy...
Dan

Added:

I added this to V7 of the calculator, last sheet called "Nicotine Ratio Sheet" it is just a quick referecnce for people who want it in the ball park :)

Nice calculator, works fine in Oo_O as far as I can tell. Lots of yummy recipes to try. :)

Also easier then doing desired concentration/mixing liquid concentration * total target output volume=mixing liquid in mix Then having to do total output volume-(mixing liquid+flavour)=filler in mix. That can get old really fast.

I just want my flavours to get here so I can try mixing.:evil:

Not really...

X = 1st nic level 24
Y = 2nd nic level 18
Z = target nic level 12

Z1 = unknown nic modifier

Z1 = ((X + Y) / 2) / Z ...... 1.75 = ((24 + 18) / 2) / 12

30ml to be made would be 30 / 1.75 = 17.14ml nic juice needed
so 30 - 17.14 = 12.85 needed plain PG/VG

So you would use the same amount of X and Y and then add in the unknown PG based on the Z1 modifier to get Z.

Capice?
Dan
My god, you have my head spinning! You aren't, by any chance, a calc professor or anything are you? Maybe I'm just a dork, but don't you have a simpler calculator??? Btw, I put a message out yesterday but since I haven't gotten any responses, I'll just ask you: Is my picture /avatar visible when I post? Because I don't see it, but I thought maybe it's only visible to others... Thanks!

I would just like to say thanks to all who have put in the effort. As a newb to e-cig I considered mixing my own once I got a feel for how this all works. My next major project was to be an excel sheet that would allow me to do this easily. But you have beaten me to it saving me hours of effort. Now all I need to do is learn to mix and continue to enjoy the freedom from analogs.

Again thank you for your efforts and for sharing.

LOL nope, I am actually an IT Manager for Government computer systems. I thought we did make it simple, just plug the numbers in the white boxes :)

And nope no picture sry...

I wonder if he was more referring to the formula you posted since he replied to that? I agree, your actual excel calculator is pretty simple to use.

Of course I am not intending to insult anyone who does find it difficult to use. Once you look it over for a while, it becomes clearer how to use it. Also, you don't need to enter something into EVERY cell in order to figure out your recipes. There are just multiple functions that it can perform.

I am not intending to insult anyone either, everything is grayed out and locked from entry except the white cells. I do agree that initially it is confusing, that is why I put comments into the white cells, so when you hover over them they tell you what this cell is for. And I agree, I wasn’t inferring that he had to enter information in every white cell, just the process of only being able to enter information into the white cells cuts down the number of choices one would have to make, hopefully making it easier... I have answered many PM's from people asking specific questions on how to use a specifice portion of it. But general questions tend to be harder.

Thanks for the comments,
Dan

Your mom said not to say...
Great contribution to the site, have people really found this to be hard to understand? I found the chart on post 131 to more confusing than the Excel spreadsheet macro. I guess I have spent way too much time in front of an Excel spreadsheet making macros myself, I need to go buy some rope and a chair now.

Keep up the great work Dan! I'm loving this spreadsheet..

What I've done with it though is kept an earlier version (v1 or 2 maybe) and inserted it as the first page in the workbook.. Most of the time I just want a quick reference to a simple mix, and don't need all the bells and whistles; although I am finally starting to remember 25-15-3-8 as my magic formula numbers to whip up a quick 2.5ml batch....
