Just wondering, what do you guys do when you need to dry burn or refill but you still have a ton of juice in your Ithaka/Ody?

I use a syringe...A big one. To suck out the juice. I think the needle size is 1/8th. I also use it to fill and refill.

Right now I'm still using the MrKrinkle method on the Penelope. My ohms are 2.3 using 32g kanthal. I'm at eleven watts and it's been about a week since a rebuild. I'm vaping El Kamino and it still works good. But I can tell that it's gunking up a little since I started at 8 watts and it gets raised little by little to get a good vape.

I have 30 and 28g kanthal for lower ohms but the 32 gets hotter faster, IMO regardless of ohms.

so i got some 2mm hollow ekowwool the other day. boiled it for 10min nuked it for 3min to make sure it was clean. my nimbus did have 2.5mm silica wick with 3 wraps of 32g kanthal, dual coil about .5ohms. butterscotch flavor was great. so i rebuilt the nimbus with the ekowool and 4 wraps 30g kanthal dual coil. also came out to .5ohms. but why dont i taste the butterscotch anymore? other flavors r ok. i noticed from the beginning i have alot more moist vape. which is great never got that before but some flavors r muted! not sure if i should go back to the silica or what? ive vaped it for over a day thought i should give it breakin time but still not much flavor. tons of very warm vape and very moist just muted flavor. dual 2mm airholes.

I have noticed some flavors seem to perform better with certain wicks. You've mentioned that you see it working well with certain juices. So I would render a guess that the setup is identical. Perhaps it's just the juice and that juice is better with silica?

Learning about ekowool I have received some and checking on how to prepare it. What are the best methods? Can it be vaped strait from the package?

*** Tapatalk tablet ***

In my case, the regular silica from imeo gets torched. The eko and twik gets boiled and later out to dry. You can boil and give it a quick run through the microwave. And both normal silica and eko can be torched. The only one of the lot is silicas that can't be torched is the twik/cotton filled silica.

Oh I've been meaning to ask you guys.. what is this "german silica" I keep reading about? I've been hearing great things about it..

It's a variation of silica wick from Germany. It has a different feel from regular silica wick where it does not feel like plastic at all, it feels more like a regular rope (if that makes sense), and it is softer than regular silica. It holds a lot more liquid than regular silica too. You can get some at RTD vapor if you want to try it out.

Thanks to all for sharing your efforts; it's really remarkable.

I've been avoiding mods, but I find myself wanting to make my vaping experience steadier. I use a Kanger T2 (Halo Triton), and I occasionally get dry hits, or crackling that shoots hot bits on my tongue. I do clean them thoroughly, and try to do it consistently. I've been trying some new flavors that I suspect may be heavier in VG. They certainly gum up the wicks.

I don't think I want to get into making my own coils (yet) but the T2 is certainly rebuildable, with some effort. If I ever do, I'd first take the time to figure out how to reliably replicate the results. I'd probably take a day to rebuild dozens of of atomizers.

The Twik Ekowool with cotton core I got from Ebay is remarkable. Unfortunately, I'm all out Ekowool with cotton core to rebuild. There are several versions of Ekowool on Ebay from different sellers, and in variable sizes. I prefer the 3mm.

Some sellers have the hollow, and some have the silica core. But there is only one seller on Ebay who has the cotton core. And as of this posting they are no longer taking orders due to the high demand.

I'm skeptical to try the silica core Ekowool in my Penelope. I tried to do a search on Twik cotton core Ekowool from other sellers and nothing. I don't even know where the Ebay seller gets their supply. Maybe you guys can point me in the right direction...or I can just try silica core Ekowool.

Many of us would like to duplicate this remarkable success you are having with this Ekowool. Since there are many variables that can make or break this success, please share with us the other factors of this build (wire type awg, single, double, etc.)

Many have said 3mm Ekowool does not fit in the channels. Is this thinner than the hollow Ekowool?

3mm on hollow Ekowool is the inner diameter - 3mm Ekowool with cotton core is outer diameter.

And also, what percent VG/PG was your juice with this Twik, cotton-core Ekowool?
I just got cotton hemp yarn, maybe I will just thread my 2mm Ekowool myself and try it..

The big thing to remember is the size on eko is measured by the INNER diameter. That's why 3mm eko doesn't fit channels. The single piece of twik works very well. I've reused 3 wire re-warps before having to toss the wick. Is it worth jumping through hoops to have? I guess that depends on if you stay with the same juice. Yes you can rinse and reuse. That's what I did. However some residual will always remain.

Eko I'm not impressed with at this point. Just sayin

Yeah I had my experimenting and it went ok.. I still really want it to work great, but silica is just better for me so far.

My next thing is trying this cotton hemp yarn that Bishop was raving about.

I've tried the cotton hemp. Mixed results. When it's good it's good and when it's not its just not. Good news is I've had better results with the hemp than eko.

Interesting. What were the specifics of your build? I'm still a little unsure, but I think I will try 3 strands of yarn per coil. Maybe wrap the coil around an appropriate sized drill bit and feed the yarn through? I don't want to pinch the wick too much with my coil wrapping.

The issues ranged depending on how I wrapped. If I remember correctly I took 3 strands with a paper clip in the middle. Did my wrap. Course I tried several variations.

Damnit Sub, now you're going to force me to set it up again to remember what I did.

woops! Haha, it's for the greater good! I will definitely mess with it tonight as well, just not super sure how tight/loose to make the coils! But yeah maybe I will wrap it with a 1/16" drill bit in the yarn, then pull it out... I know cotton swells up a lot so I want to give it a good amount of room
