Many of us would like to duplicate this remarkable success you are having with this Ekowool. Since there are many variables that can make or break this success, please share with us the other factors of this build (wire type awg, single, double, etc.)
Many have said 3mm Ekowool does not fit in the channels. Is this thinner than the hollow Ekowool?
That is odd. The 3mm Twik Ekowool with cotton core from Ebay fits fine down the Penelope channels. And I have a real Penny that I got from COV. I even double the Ekowool on the coil part (not channel part) and make it 6mm inside the Penelope cup. But only one strand of 3mm can fit inside the channel. Notice I said 'channel' and not channel
s. I use the half Mr. Krinkle method. Which means that the ekowool is cut off on one side, leaving an open channel for juice to flow though. I leave the open channel on the white ceramic side. The other channel is the metal side where the wire touches and I don't even use NR wire on that side. I just let the kanthal from the coil go down a teeny bit and make the contact...this is where I have the one strand of ekowool over it to ensure the wire stays in place.
This is the best way that I know of. I used all of my two feet of Twik Ekowool to test different setups. And if you run Twik Ekowool down both channels...the wicking sucks big time.
As far as wires go. I have various sizes of kanthal (28, 30, and 32). With the VV/VW mod I'm using, I find that the 32 kanthal works fine. I really don't need low ohms. I try to keep it between 1.5-2.5 ohms, and it works fine.
Doing some research, I found that the person selling the Twik cotton core Ekowool on Ebay somehow makes it themselves. I don't think they are making the actual product but they are getting organic cotton and hollow Ekowool and putting it together....Don't ask me how, I'm just assuming.
The Twik Ekowool wicks good. But with the cotton core it only last about a week to a week and a half of decent vaping. Then it kind of dies off. The cotton burns up ect. So I'm thinking maybe I should try the Ekowool with silica core. I know it would last longer than cotton but I don't know how well it will wick since cotton is really good at wicking.
