So, first day with the M and the Ni coil.

First, the draw is very tight. Even with the adj wide open. It feels like a naughty mini on the second hole. And I'm a MTL, not looking to huff mondo clouds.

And I'm new at the temp thing, but this juice tastes way different in this tank. I'll allow a tank or 2 for the coil to break in, added to my fiddling with the adjustments like a middleschooler on a mixing board.

I've arrived at 390F and 25 joules. (I thought I was ok with physics and Ohm's Law, but joules is a mystery. I read somewhere to just think of it as power, in a new scale.)

It started with an off taste, very metallic. It has slowly receded. And it's been just the first day, ok, first few hours (since I can't play at work. Stupid work!)

Um...you forgot about when you wear shorts in the summer time and it feels like you're peeling a layer of skin off when you get up from plastic clad furniture.
What's even worse is Car seats with metal buttons in a convertible after the top his been down in the sun in the summer, while wearing shorts!!!! It didn't take sitting for any length of time to be "uncomfortable", believe me!

Dave, I did not like the Ni coils in any of the GS tanks. And that's on any of the mods I own that do TC. The air flow, to me is very tight and I had to turn both my mini Clouper and the EVic Mini up to 490-500 degrees to get a decent vape with it. I even tried the GS tank that came with Ni coils on the Pico and didn't like it there either.

Well...it was non-filters. That's all I smoked for over 35 years. It's a wonder I haven't barfed up a lung.
I hear you, Top Tobacco and rolled my own for 35 years! Lung Doc told me either quit or die, but is OK with vaping!!

If you have a mod that does Ti-TC mode then rebuild those like Cheechako shows with 6 or 7 wraps of 26Ga or .40mm Titanium wire in a 2 mm coil, they draw better and if you like a warm vape then 490-500F sounds about right! Oh and they come out at .25-.33 ohms

I moved the GS M to the new evic VT, since it shows watts while in temp mode. But...

sigh

I got it up to 45w and 500F, and there is just little vapor and little flavor. It's like a naughty with a 1.6 coil at 7 watts. Which I know is just too little. Now I'm up to 540F, getting some vapor, some (but still muted) taste. Progress. Now at 570, it feels close, but muted flavor.

I will continue to play. Funny how the evic has easy to adjust temp, but the watts is thru the menu. Yet my Sigelei 90w Plus TC has the adjustment for power (in joules), and the temp is thru the menu. Hmm.

After this tank, I'll throw the regular Kanthal coil in. I'm fluent in V W and kanthal.

:)

i have several mods that do Ti but I'd rather use SS. Ti is too flimsy for me.
I've used Tempered Ni, Titanium1 and Kanthal, I like the Ti and Kanthal for wrapping coils the most, but haven't tried SS yet, since I just the other day got an iStick TC100W and it is the first one that I've owned that will do SS in TC mode! Have to use up some coils and buy some wire to give it a try!

I have had good luck with my GS Tank on the Clouper Mini which I won here on ECF. I am using the stock NI coil at 440 degrees. Nice warm vapor and the flavor is decent. Not as much vapor as my Crown tank, but it's adequate.

Hi, gang. Now that I swapped out the Ni coil for a good ol kanthal 1.5, I'm enjoying the M more. I'm filling it with a syringe after trying to shave a plastic bottle tip. I'm running a tad over 12 watts, getting good vapor and nice flavor. The draw is better than the Ni, but still tight. Too bad the tank doesn't come apart; a few minutes with a Dremel, and it'd be way easier to fill. I guess I've now run thru 4 tanks, and the coil is still good, actually getting better.

I haven't been able to get in touch with my "nubie" friend. I think I will test drive her GS tank. Although smaller in capacity, it's easier to fill.

And oh yea, this evic is a solid half pound!!!!

Based on my experience with the M and MS I'd say most of them will eventually come apart. Just get a real good grip on it and try unscrewing it. Rubber gloves might help you get a good grip. Don't try too hard and if it wont budge wait until next coil change to try it again.

Think I remember one poster saying repeated dis-assembly could ruin the o rings. I have not had any issue with that. They get a full dis-assembly and deep cleaning on every coil change.

Usually the first time it comes apart the o rings are stuck to the glass. The two o rings are slightly different so be careful not to mix them up. I'm not 100% sure I returned all mine to their original positions, but have yet to have any leaks on my Ms or MSs.

Hey guys, looking at all the superb reviews for the GS tank, I was planning on getting one. Had a few questions though.

Is the GS tank good for MTL, with the available 1.5 ohm coils?

Are there any RBA heads available for it. I will start with a couple of packs of the 1.5 head, but shipping in and reordering again and again could get cumbersome.

Welcome aboard!

Very much so. The airflow is just perfect and can be adjusted somewhat to suit your preferences.

Nope, but thanks to Master Cheechako and other clever resident modders, we have now perfected the art of rebuilding the 1.5Ω coils. Very clever and economical, if you're so inclined.

Visit Cheech's blog for detailed instructions.
