Not sure why it even ask if it's a new coil. Normally it can just read ohm and know. If I have it set in temp mode for ss at 20w and 400 degrees f, then thats what I want it at.

Because top-fill is a relatively new feature and the mod asks in case you've refilled a warm atty and put it back on the mod. Or switched to a new one that's very close to the old.

Either way.

Okay, Lol I am still figuring this thing out. When you confirm the coil isn't it supposed to keep those settings unless the tank is removed or a battery changed. It asked me at least 30 times if I had a new coil last night and this morning. lol Every time I clicked same coil and it would ask again later. Finally a little while ago I just clicked new coil and it hasn't asked me since.

Do you ever notice yourself changing the temp a lot. Last night I had it set to like 420 (no pun intended) and it was working good, a nice warm vape. Then it got to hot so I set it down to like 380. Then that isn't enough so I adjust it back up.
This was my wife's vape so I don't really use it much. I did turn the temp up from 400F to 440F because it was still hitting the protection pretty fast after the new coil reset. I have a Pico, but haven't received my TC coils yet, so I haven't had a chance to use it in TC.

There's nothing wrong with reaching "temperature protected". That's actually what TC is supposed to do. Once it reaches the temp, it will not continue heating it even further, but supply just enough power to maintain the temp point rather than heating it above your temperature preference. I would just set it to whatever gives you a vape that feels right and let TC do it's job.

That's what I've read, but it seems to flutter and the vapor production goes way down. I guess I need to play around with it a bit more.

If it continues to not ask... cool. Odd problem, but maybe just a passing one.

If it keeps happening, the first thing I'd check for is a loose connection in the atty causing a res spike or drop. If not, I'd have to consider one *gack* in the Pico. :(

Or it's a glitch in the Matrix software.
Luckily... there's finally an update, so you could reflash the firmware if it comes to that.

I guess it's a matter of the coil and how the mod is set up to "interpret" the resistance change and respond to it. You might want to see if you can look up the TCR for the metal the coil is built from and see if entering that (if the mod will allow it) improves performance.

I find the same thing. Mine is on 25w at 420F. Sometimes it works great, but sometimes it hits temp protection almost instantly and I have to keep increasing the temp. Maybe there is something that needs to be done with the resistance and room temperature settings. Does the resistance change almost hand in hand with the temperature?

I run my temp way higher than that as I prefer a warm vape, akin to smoking. My pico is set to 550f/27w with the 0.5ohm SS316L BF head in my Cubis. When I run one of the 0.25ohm coils in these tanks I have turn the temp way down to the low/mid 400's though.

Mine still gets pretty warm at that temp. I have the same 0.19ohm notch coil I put in a week or so ago. But if I go too high it really drains the heck out of my old batteries. I don't have a working bank card to buy any new batteries right now. I'm not sure how long that notch coil will last. It seems to last longer than my hand wrapped kanthal wire coils.

I think it might, but to be honest, I'm not sure. It's my wife's so I don't really use it much. When you have problems with it going into protection to fast have you tried doing the new coil thing? This seemed to work for me, but not sure why.

Only when it ask me. Sometimes it will do it very fast, but not ask about the coil. Not sure how to force it to do that.
