I think maybe you are getting your wires crossed a little, figuratively.

When I plug those numbers into steam-engine, I get a 0.8 ohm outcome, not 0.08. To get the latter figure, it would essentially be... 1 wrap.

0.8ohms is far more acceptable on the Pico, and a SS coil can be used in wattage or TC.

If it is definitely reading .08, something is wrong somewhere. Maybe you can include a photo?

Truth is I can't remember if it was .8 .008 or.08
I through it away ,I will try over
Thanks for your help

No problem. I honestly think that is your best bet at this point, just to be sure.

I would personally recommend staying above .1-.12 in TC mode on the Pico... even a tiny bit higher. TC mode works quite well but obviously can't fire any higher than 75W, so if you go too low the ramp up takes forever or simply never reaches protection. I usually keep above .25 for Wattage on the Pico just for vape satisfaction, but of course that's all personal preference. I have used some coils below .25 on the Pico in wattage and they were fine... but I personally typically like the option to fire at a full 4.2V if I want to.

By the way, having a small issue with my Pico but I know there's a simple solution and I know I've read about this before but I just can't find it. I have a SS coil on there but it's dropping out of SS mode as it's firing and reverting to wattage. Anyone remember the fix to this? It's something to do with putting your topper on while the mod is off, or vice versa, something...

ed: There's a chance I'm trying to use non-TC wire in TC. I have some unlabeled wire in a box someone sent me and some is nichrome and some is SS. I may have mixed them up. It's going out of TC on a bunch of my devices that use similar boards, including the Pico and a Cuboid 150W. Would the device knock out of TC if it read the coil as not changing, and possibly not TC-appropriate wire? I HAVE heard of people having these issues with SS even when they're sure they're using SS, but that is definitely a variable here and now I'm suspcious since it's not just the Pico.

Still, assuming I am using SS (and I may not be), the above question stands because I'm pretty sure there's a simple fix.

sounds like your build is almost 1.0Ω so I'd guess it's a bad wrap coil
like ya said, throw it out and try again... ;)

I'd presume the opposite. I think you've got the NiCr in there.

Almost all TC mods will kick out when the expected res rise is absent.
It's how they work and it's "a good thing".

The one exception I own is the D2. And in that case... it's also a good thing.
No buck circuit in power mode so it's the only way to fire below battery voltage.
Handy for most everyone who tried to use even a moderately high res coil.

I've no idea is that's consistent across some, many, all or even any other P4Y mods, but it's the way the D2 works.

Every other TC mod I have gets cranky at that and kicks out. As you've shown on yours.

The other "test"... if you have one with a "live res" readout (Cuboid maybe)... fire it and see if the res rises. If not... it's the NiCr.

@Jim_ MDP I'm sorry, I did not phrase my last question correctly. I meant more "even though I am probably not, let's just say I was using stainless for the sake of that question," because I know some people had trouble when actually using stainless in mods with a similar board. (Although I suppose there's always a chance, if not likely, that some people made the same mistake and weren't actually using stainless wire.) I realized after it bounced out of TC mode on multiple mods that it was unlikely I was using SS, but I'm 99% sure some people had a similar issue when actually using stainless and were able to fix it by simply turning off the mod while the atomizer was attached, something like that.

You are correct, though, it was the NiCr. I took it out and rebuilt with what I know to be SS and it's working just fine. Since I am not getting kicked out I obviously don't need any "fix" for it, but I'm still curious.

I have a Hohmwrecker G2 coming which I am rather excited about...

@TrollDragon I can't wait! I am almost literally buzzing with excitement. It's been a while since I've been able to afford such a high end device (not that I'm knocking my less-expensive ones, which have mostly served me very well, but this is another level). I got it for such a great price that if I love it as much as I think I will, I might just get another.

I have a soft spot for black devices, so I scored the full black. I actually got the full black Pico coming, too.

I don't want to derail the thread too much but do you mind a PM sometime if I need help with settings on the G2? Your set-up looks awesome...

On topic, does anyone know if the Lemo 3 will fit the Pico? NBD if it doesn't, but I guess I don't really see why not. I feel like I've seen people fit 23mm tanks on the Pico and the Lemo 3 has a 22mm base with that kind of bubbled-out glass to 23mm.

That's what I was thinking/hoping. I have plenty of other devices that will absolutely fit that tank, but I'm almost thinking they did the 22mm base and 23mm bubble at least partially for the Pico. I'm totally guessing, of course, but it makes a certain amount of sense considering how many tanks are >22mm these days and the the Pico and Lemo are both made by eLeaf.

I wish there were more 23mm tanks... Merlin is on my list though.

I'll find out soon enough but can't anticipate any problems. Thanks!

A little OT is fine as long as it doesn't carry on for pages. :D

All the colors are really great, I am pondering a Slice too. There are some great videos on YT from HOHM Tech and others on setting up the G2. I'm a new owner myself and am still learning. ;)

Here is an good starting video.

If you are a member of the "other place" there is a big G2 thread full of great people and info!

@Dieseler thank you, I will definitely post back when I get it. It should be here Monday or Tuesday, along with tons of other goodies. Have to use some restraint, though... not my strong suit! I'll be trying everything out to make sure it's working, though, so all the mods and tanks and RDAs (including the Lemo 3) will get at least a pass. I will certainly try it out on the Pico. Thank you for the input.

@TrollDragon Thanks for the video and ideas. I have a good friend at that Other Forum who has a G2 and basically convinced me to get it so I'm sure he'll be of some help too. I'll find some thread and watch some videos but I am really very excited. I couldn't afford a DNA200 and I know some people really prefer the Hohmwrecker which costs slightly more than a mid-priced DNA device for two of them. I mean, that is just a bonus. I know plenty of people who can afford to get what they want and have at least one G2.

Speaking of, though, and not just as an excuse to be back on topic :D, I have honestly been pretty impressed by the TC capabilities of some of my inexpensive devices like the Cuboid and the Pico. I do tend to find TC to work better with a higher set wattage than the Pico can give but even if they're not spot on (and I don't have the testing capabilities), I have really been thoroughly satisfied with most of my TC-capable mods once I found a suitable setting.

Do I think the likes of the G2 and DNA200 give a more accurate, and probably more satisfying vape? Sure.

Do I think it matters much when you actually have a Pico in your mouth instead? No.

Sorry for the ramble, I just think it's super great that there are a number of affordable mods today that do passable temp-control. The stagnation of these types of devices, more affordable and more well-known to the masses, is one of the biggest casualties of the current FDA-induced climate IMO.

I want to try a slightly higher resistance TC coil on the Pico, has anyone done that? I forget the upper limit of resistance in TC mode but I'll go check.

If I don't already have a Pico, would you guys suggest getting the mega over the original? I kinda liked the smaller size and I know the mega is a bit larger but I'm not sure by how much. It is slightly improved so for the same price, seems like getting the newer version should be the obvious choice but I'm not sure if the prices are different?
