@trentenmarschel chain vaping any single battery mod with a low ohm build is going to heat it up. This is part of the reason why I have multiple single and triple battery mods with the same flavors on my desk.
Do you think it will hurt the device much? I'm not sure how durable these things are. My lavatube was a giant metal pipe, So I could throw it in a fire and it might still work.

I can't say but if it starts feeling too warm to me I put it down and grab another if I am at home. If I am out of the house and it's my only mod I put it down and take a break. My hana modz one mods are my go to travelers these days as they give a much better TCSS vape IMO.

Trent, get yourself a DNA200, you'll spend more time vaping then worrying about these little problems you seem to have on a daily basis. I think you DESERVE one! The Pico is a $25 mod, I own 4, just enjoy them for what they are, no it's not going to last forever, maybe a year in the best of conditions. Since I bought 4, mine will last 4 years, see the math there? Can't afford a DNA200, see all my posts on the DNA75's, a BIG step up from the Pico.

Okay, Thanks. I think the tank would probably suffer the most, but almost all the parts in it are metal. No matter what setting I put it on in TC mode, it never seems to reach that temperature when I am vaping on it.

Ps I just sent the FDA a nice little email. It probably won't matter, but it still makes me feel better. lol.

I might try the DNA75. It looks like some places have it for under $100. It would take me several months to be able to be comfortable with that purchase, as I still have to front several hundred bucks for college expenses.

Showing now as out of stock. But it was $45.

SMY SDNA 75w TC Box Mod | Ecig.com

I would not recommend buying anything from overseas, but at least you know you can hopefully buy one for much less then $100. The HCigar VT75 Nano is about $85 at MVS, and you'll have it in a few days. Or better yet, save your money for school! In the end, that's the best investment you will ever make!

Not sure you can swing it, but e cig city has the VT75 for $49.99 in stock in black only HCigar VT 75 | 75w Temperature Control Mod. Add a $1 battery holder to the order and you get free shipping over $50. Probably the best buy on a DNA 75 in stock right now. The SMY at Ecig is also a great deal, but as Mactavish pointed out, it's out of stock, which is common with Ecig sales, they sell out quickly.

High watts is the culprit in these cases, not low resistance. The amp draw does not increase with lower resistance per se.

Mine is only set on 20W with a titanium coil on it. The ohms are 0.44Ω. In TC mode, even set at 20 it never goes above 16w before it hits protection.
I am thinking of buying a laser thermometer gun to see what temperature the coil is actually reaching in TC mode.

There are of course other factors to consider when discussing HEAT. As of this moment, I have two identical mods, running two DIFFERENT tanks and coils. Both mods are in TC mode, both set to 470f, at 35 watts. Both attys show .5 ohm coil resistance. The only differences are one tank is a Cubis Pro with SS316 coil, the other is a Melo 3 Mini with a titanium coil. The Melo coil heats up the whole mod, while the Cubis does not. There are many design differences between tanks that can influence the overall HEAT you may feel when using them, besides the volts, watts, ohms, etc.

The "temp protect"? That's not an error or something you'll want to avoid. It means that you've reached the temperature that you've set and the device won't restricts the watts so you won't exceed that temperature. The device is functioning as it should.

well, in my defense if I have a low resistance coil I am going to be pushing high watts. I thought he was building lower than 0.44. I run my JT BF 0.5 coils on the pico/hana mods at ~27.5w usually.

edit: I have not run Ti coils yet though I do have a couple 5 packs of 0.2ohm Ti coils for my Cubis and Cubis pro tanks to try some day.

A decent thermometer will cost more then a DNA75! I own one.

Do you think if I were to put a compressed titanium coil in that it might actually make the vapor hotter? Right now the spacing on the coil is very wide, so I don't think it has a chance to heat the liquid up that much.

Sure, that may be the case, but focusing on the resistance is giving the wrong information/advice.

My problem as it is now is that I have the temp set to 530F and When I take long draws on it, the vape is nowhere near that hot. I have had kanthal coils in there on lower watts and it get nice and warm. I know I am like cold vaping. I have to restrict the airflow a lot to even get the vape warm. But the TC kicks in and says it is at the temp I set, but I doubt it is anywhere near 530F.

Then your resistance reading might be wrong, or the device is faulty.

If you doubt your mod, then you should learn how to test it, search on cotton burn test. There is also a water boil test I've never bothered with. I'm sure someone can chime in on that topic.
